Chapter 43: An ambush [I]

My fight against the Fire minautor attracted so much attention, especially when I brought back it's mana core to the adventurers guild it made a fuss in the whole kingdoom about the youngest AA rank adventurer in the history also the youngest to kill an A rank monster and alone on top of that.

Topping it with the announcement of the king, it spread like wildfire through the country and even outside the country.

Everyone in and outside the kingdoom knew about the blond kid with a white snake wrapped around his body and a dragon tattoo on his left bicep, the name Melidoas and title The Dragon Sin of Wrath spread everywhere.

I received my gold adventurers card meaning that I officialy am a AA rank, and my title was officialy annouced next to my name.

Ash and Lucy being the ones who supported the Dragon Sin during the minotor fight and being part of the party also became a sort of known names, ever since we started our adventures they both has grown in strengh at a very fast pace.

Ash is now a B rank adventurer while Lucy is a C rank, they dont seem satisfied with these ranks and always want to be better. This is what I like about these guys

I support mainly Lucy because she wasnt very good and didn't know basics contrary to Ash who already had a decent level. But she proved to be a talented person just like I expected the first day I saw her.

Acquiring power, she grew to become bold, agressive and... Angry if I might say. But only with other people. I think she was marked by the behavior her previous master, the balcksmith used to treat her which left its trace.

Another year has passed by which makes it two years as an adventurer, Ash is now in solid orange stage and lucy is at dark orange stage, while I am at dark yellow stage, this was thanks to our training and experince in the dungeons and beasts fighting, also the mana core of some of the strong mana beasts we hunted helped us a lot.

One thing I noticed during my evolution is that the higher my mana core stage was getting, the more easier and longer I could maintain and control my demon form.

"Meliodas, this last year we kept fighting mana beasts to the point where even A rank dungeons are no longer difficult for us" Said Ash while walking out of an A rank dungeon with a yellow mana core in his hand.

"Indeed, we have progressed a lot during this period, now you can even beat B rank monsters by yourself." I commented with my hands behind my head.

"Haha yea" Ash chuckled and continued "But are you sure you don't want this mana core, we can easily make tons of money and share it between us if we can sell it in an auction or something."

"Nah dont worry, I advise you not to sell it but keep it since it has a beast will with thunder afinitie inside it, if you manage to absob it you're strengh will grow many folds." I explained.

"I see, I will keep it in that case. Thanks Melidoas." He replied.

"Shishishi no worries, besides that I really miss Arthur it's been a year and half since I last saw him."

"You mean your brother? Humph! I dont care or like him, he didn't even come to visit you when you were injured. Imma beat his ass if I see him." She folded her arms under her under developped chest, looking the other side with an angry expression, her eyes closed.

"Well, I know my brother has his reasons for not visiting me, as for beating his ass, I don't know about that..." I told her, not wanting to expose that he is Note.

"Meliodas I've been meaning to ask you. The other day you said that the king wanted my necklace, do you know what is the reason for that?" Lucy asked, holding the blue gem of tge necklace in her hand and eyeing it.

"I dont know about that but I'll gather some informations about it later..." While I was speaking, a strong killing intent bombarded my senses at once, the problem is that it wasn't aimed at me but at...

"Ash watch out" I stopped a katana that was aimed at Ash using playful cloud that I got out of Amaya in less than a second.

The impact of the collision of my weapon and his sword created a huge swirl of wind that pushed back Ash and Lucy many meters away, seeing that his ambush didn't work the hooded guy jumped back.

"Who are you?" I asked with a serious expression

Taking off his hood, a man in his fourties with grey long hair with no beard and a face with some wrinkles was revealed, he had a very disturbing smile on his face, a cold and calculating look in his eyes and a scar on his left cheek passing through his lips, and another one on his right eyebrow and eye.

"Dragon Sin Of wrath, I have heard a lot about you these days, I have to say that rumors weren't just rumors after all." He smiled weirdly at me.

"And I guess you are Ghost, the famous serial killer with wanted posters everywhere at the city." I got into a fighting stance, tightly grabbing my weapon.

'This guys has became very famous these days, he has killed over 13 of the strongest adventurers of Xyrus city and was never caught. He must be very dangerous if that is the case.' I thought to myself.

"Hahahaha, I guess I have became quite popular being reconised by the famous Dragon Sin, anyways since you know who I am, I think you also understand why I am here, so let's just get started already."

I can feel the tension in the air as I prepare myself for the battle. There's no room for hesitation or I will be killed immedietly. With a burst of incredible speed, I charge towards him, my muscles surging with power.

The katana wielding killer's strikes are swift and precise, a dance of death in the middle of beast glades. I evade, duck, and weave, relying on my immense strength and agility to dodge his razor sharp strikes. The clang of his katana meeting the unyielding force of my three section staff creates a symphony of battle.

With a powerful sweep of my weapon, I attempt to disarm him, but he counters with a swift parry, his blade dancing with an almost hypnotic grace. It's a deadly waltz, and we are the dancers.

We exchange blows, each strike echoing with a thunderous impact. My strikes are like sledgehammers, while his katana moves like an extension of his very being. The surface becomes a battleground, our battle cries filling the empty place.

Despite my raw power, the serial killer's mastery of the sword is undeniable. I can feel the weight of his strikes and the precision of his cuts. 'Damn it! He's so good at using the sword! I cant keep up with him.' I thought to myself.

Holding the handle of his katana, Ghost went into a weird stance not moving a single muscle, I dashed towards him but when I got close to him I couldn't see him anymore, and I finally realised.

'A trap...?'

[VERTICAL SLASH!]

He cuted through my right arm that had the weapon. *Thud* My arm was on the floor now and I was weaponless.

'Fuck! He's so fast!' I thought holding my bloodied shoulder with my left hand in pain.
