"Hmph! Why don't you demand Dr Lizard to bring Mary here?" Christopher bellowed in frustration.
"Please, don't be upset. I've already contacted Dr Lizard. He'll be bringing Mary here shortly. But I must clarify, Dr Lizard isn't under my command. He acted independently, so any offense caused to is not on me," the Green Goblin explained courteously, wary of Christopher's ire.
Listening to their exchange, Spider-Man, feeling powerless in the face of their conflict, appealed to Christopher for assistance. "Spider Tyrant, please implore Harry to release these innocent people!"
Believing Christopher's influence could sway the Green Goblin, Spider-Man hoped for a peaceful resolution to the hostage situation.
"I'm no hero. Those hostages aren't my concern. Why should I intervene?" Christopher retorted coldly, indifferent to the plight of the captives.
Frustrated by Christopher's indifference, Spider-Man lamented the loss of potential lives that could have been saved.
Amused by Christopher's demeanor, the Green Goblin proposed reconciliation. "Indeed, Spider Tyrant, you're pragmatic. Let's set aside our enmity. After all, there's no animosity between us."
Christopher merely grunted in response.
Grinning mischievously, the Green Goblin continued, "So, you won't object to me causing trouble for Spider-Man, right?"
"Whatever, but you better keep your hands off Mary," Christopher retorted firmly.
"Sure thing," the Green Goblin agreed readily.
"You—you're despicable!" Spider-Man exclaimed, his anger boiling over, yet he felt utterly powerless against Christopher and the Green Goblin.
With a wicked smirk, the Green Goblin held himself tall, clutching a pumpkin bomb in each hand, and turned to Spider-Man with a coaxing tone: "Peter, how about we make this interesting? I command you to reveal yourself."
"Dream on," Spider-Man growled through gritted teeth.
The Green Goblin triggered one of the bombs with a flick of his thumb, a faint beeping filling the air.
He grinned maliciously and taunted, "...hear that? If I release my thumb, kaboom."
Panicked, the hostages pleaded with Spider-Man, urging him to comply for their safety.
"Spider-Man, please, save us!"
"Unmask, we implore you!"
"Please, Spider-Man, reveal yourself. It's our only chance!"
As the tension mounted, Spider-Man grappled with the weight of his decision, torn between revealing his identity and the lives at stake.
Spider-Man's face contorted with anger, his desire to unleash fury on the Green Goblin evident. However, the hostages' desperate pleas touched his kind-hearted nature, compelling him to consider their plea.
Spider-Man heard the hostages' gratitude and expressions of support.
"Spider-Man, we trust you. Show the world the hero you truly are."
"Tear off that mask, Spider-Man! We believe in you!" Another hostage chimed in, echoing the sentiment.
The Green Goblin, amused, burst into laughter, mocking Spider-Man, "Unmask yourself, Spider-Man. Let the world see the face of its supposed hero…"
Taking advantage of the Green Goblin's distraction, Spider-Man seized the moment. He shot out a dozen spider silks, wrapping around the Green Goblin's hand. Unable to release the pumpkin bomb without risking detonation, the Green Goblin found himself restrained.
Realizing he could no longer threaten Spider-Man, the Green Goblin kicked a hostage towards him and fled. Spider-Man, catching the kicked person, prioritized the safety of the hostages before pursuing the elusive Green Goblin.
Despite Spider-Man's flexible agility, the Green Goblin continued causing chaos. Running from the first floor to the eighth floor, the Green Goblin eventually leaped out of a window.
"Harry!" Spider-Man's voice echoed through the room.
Despite the Green Goblin's descent into villainy, Spider-Man couldn't shake the bond of friendship they shared from their days as classmates.
Even in the midst of conflict, Spider-Man couldn't bear the thought of the Green Goblin meeting a tragic end.
Rushing to the window, Spider-Man leaped out, his webbing shooting out to catch the falling figure of his erstwhile friend.
But as he emerged from the window, Spider-Man was met with a surprising sight: the Green Goblin, not plummeting to his demise, but triumphantly perched on his spare glider.
"Peter, you still care for my safety?" The Green Goblin's voice dripped with sinister amusement.
His mock plunge had been a ruse, sensing Spider-Man's attempt to save him.
Spider-Man's gesture of mercy surprised the Green Goblin, despite their animosity.
But deep-seated hatred still smoldered within the Green Goblin's heart, fueled by the memory of his father's death at Spider-Man's hands.
Hanging upside down, Spider-Man defended his actions. "Harry, we've always been friends. How could I just stand by and watch you fall?"
With a swift motion, the Green Goblin freed himself from Spider-Man's webbing with the scimitar on his elbow, his tone laced with sarcasm.
"Friends, Peter? Do you truly believe that?"
Spider-Man's sincerity was unwavering. "Of course, Harry. Despite everything, you've always been there for me."
In the halls of their school, Spider-Man had been an outcast, bullied and ridiculed. Yet, the Green Goblin's acceptance and friendship had been a beacon of support in those dark times.
Even amidst their current conflict, Spider-Man remained steadfast in his regard for the Green Goblin as a friend, no matter how twisted his path had become.
In Spider-Man's eyes, loyalty trumped all, even amidst betrayal.
But the Green Goblin's bitterness festered. "You killed my father. Do you expect me to forgive that?"
Spider-Man's guilt weighed heavily as he tried to explain. "Your father was consumed by darkness. If I hadn't stopped him, more lives would have been lost. I hoped you'd see that."
"... You think I'd forgive you for killing my father?"
The Green Goblin's voice rose in anger, the bitterness of loss fueling his hatred.
