Testing Gone Wrong

"This might be the most excited I have ever been," Tristan said as he did some light warm up exercises. He had decided to check on his powers and compare them to the DC hero Shazam and boy was he over the moon. Not even when he had been qualified for his first mission with Seal team Alpha was he this excited. He then checked his Stark issued smartphone that he had propped, camera facing him.

"This is a test to check the preliminaries of my powers. Powered by the living lightning, I know I have the wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury. What I will be testing my my strength, speed both running and flying speed and durability," Tristan said while facing the camera before he looked a wrecked car he had carried here.

"This saloon weighs approximately two tonnes. I carried it for twenty minutes and I can say I barely felt the weight. My starting lifting strength will be the last to test on. For the first test, I will be slamming this car right on top of me," he said before lifting the saloon car with one hand and chucking it into the air.

Gulping nervously, he stood where he approximated it would slam to the ground, clenched his butt and weighted. The saloon reached its terminal velocity at two hundred and thirteen metres in the air before it started falling. It speed up, nose first and slammed into Tristan with a bang. He felt the air knock out of him as he went to his knees. His body had wrecked the car, sinking into its hood and stopping at the driver's seat. Taking a couple breaths in to settle his nerves, he ripped the car off of him then looked at it.

"Damn, that was nerve wrecking," he sighed in relief, feeling no discomfort as he stretched his limbs. "Besides having the wind knocked out of me, I barely felt it. But, that does not conclude my invulnerability test."

He walked to a small heap of cartons, poured gasoline all over it then sent a zap of lightning at it, lighting it up. Reluctantly, he stripped his clothes then walked into the burning cartons and sat down. He expected he would feel some kind of discomfort but he couldn't feel the heat. This made his frown a little before doing a very dumb decision. He got out of the fire and doused himself with gasoline before jumping into the fire. He didn't know it but after the first test, his willpower had strengthened his resolve making him more courageous than he had thought was possible. While before this would be just an intrusive thought, he had really set himself on fire to test his limits!

When he was already on fire, that's when his rationality finally caught up with his actions. He was stunned silent, watching as the fire on his body starting roaring as it spread all over his body. His human instincts wanted him to flail around, trying to douse the fire but his other side convinced him to just adopt a wait and see policy. So, he waited, watched till the fire died.

"That was harrowing," he sighed in relief before touching his skin. He felt the heat but didn't feel any discomfort. "Sure, this might proof I am somehow invulnerable to fire but the experiment is not conclusive enough. But, any more fire and the fire department might be called so I'm gonna shelf any more testing for later, or I decide to go into a burning building." Tristan wore his clothes before looking back at the camera.

"More tests on invulnerability might be only possible in the field. So, I'm going to test my stamina. For a while now, I have not felt the need to eat or drink, I would attribute that to my massive stamina. But, to test more on that, I'm gonna do a breath holding test while I am underwater." He walked to a bath tub that he had plugged its drain and filled to the brim with water. Once again, he took off his clothes and submerged into the water, holding his breath.

Slowly, he started clocking himself, not even aware he was doing that. His intelligence was becoming sharper in an unconscious way that he wasn't even noticing it, the wisdom of Solomon truly was a broken ability.

Slowly, his counting went from seconds to minutes to hours till he just decided to emerge after reaching four and a half hours. He only needed to catch his breath for a second before he was good as rain. He turned to the camera and gave it an okay sign. He got off the bathtub and ran lightning through his body, drying himself off and put on his clothes. He checked his phone's battery and sighed in regret when he saw it was at four percent. So, he switched it off and put it in his pocket.

'Guess flight will not be on the record,' he told himself before pumping himself up.

"Okay, I'm the man, I'm the man, I'm the man!" he hyped himself before willing himself to start flying.

Slowly, he started rising into the air, his subconsciousness making him feel like this was not natural. He was about to start losing focus and balance ending into his fall when his body corrected itself almost as suddenly. All the nervousness rolled out of him and he felt free. Free from all his worries, his doubts and nervousness. All he could feel was the thrill of finally flying. He laughed uproarously before blasting himself into the sky.

Once on the same level as a nimbus cloud, he sped forward, picking his speed as he made laps round the city that never sleeps. He broke through the sound barrier, going to mach three, parting the clouds whenever he went. He had never felt this much freedom in his life. He knew he could go even faster but decided to shelf the idea for a moment. He stopped flying in the middle of Manhattan, floating high above it.

"Power of Zeus. Zeus is a god of lightning and storms. Perhaps I could channel that power and make a storm of my own," he said to himself before nodding resolutely. Yes, this sounded like a plan.

So, he raised his hand into the air before concentrating, picturing a strom gathering around him. For a few seconds, he felt nothing before he felt something click in his brain. Suddenly, he felt a massive wave of energy roll out of him in droves.

Before he could even understand what was going on, dark, heavy clouds started converging all over him, spreading far and wide till they encompassed New York entirely. Lightning flashed followed by window breaking booms of thunder. Flood like rains started falling into the city while monsoon like winds battered the city, causing a power outage all over. The culprit was looking at all of this with a mouth wide open in disbelief.

"Fuck!" he cursed when he saw a massive lightning bolt hit the New York sanctum. He immediately dipped, not willing to face a startled master of magic.
