Playing a Game (2)

"That's not the answer to my question." Lucy said, shaking her head.

"Big sis, how about we change the rules a bit." Lucas scratched his head and said with an awkward smile.

He had just been reincarnated and it was not possible for him to know many things. Any question Lucy would ask, he probably won't know about it, so it was better to change the rules a bit.

"Nope. The rules won't be changed." Lucy denied it straightaway. She knew what her brother was cooking up. If it went like this, it'll be just him asking her questions till they reached home.

Lucas sighed. His sister sure was smart. He cleared his throat and thought about things for a bit.

When they were children back on Earth, their comfort food for lunch was rice along with chicken and vegetable curry. They really liked it and almost had it everyday. Since they were poor, it was affordable as well and each day, they could change some things and have a different variety of it.

Lucas stopped thinking and answered Lucy with a smile, "rice along with chicken and vegetable curry?"

Lucy was surprised to hear it. "Yes, did you listen to her when she told us about it?"

Lucas nodded his head and Lucy's surprise was gone. Maybe she had missed something and he really did listen to her.

"Alright, onto my next question. Tell me everything you know about this world. Like the current situation, politics, etc., let's see if you're updated or not." Lucas said with a smile.

Lucy nodded and began her explanation and Lucas listened intently to it.

After about ten minutes into her explanation, he got the gist of how the current world was.

Basically, long story short, from what Lucy said, he was able to deduce that he had been reincarnated just a few years before Veldora would disappear.

The Council of the West was ruling, with theirs as well as Freedom Association's headquarters being located in the Kingdom of Ingracia.

The monsters vs humans thing was strong and so was humans vs demons.

Rudra and Guy Crimson were playing their forever war and Rudra was basically awaiting to be devoured by [Justice King Michael].

Now, the most important question that Lucas had and wanted to know about is, what version of the story will this world follow? The completed version or the incomplete version?

Though he had this question, he shoved them all aside. There was no one who could answer him such a thing except for the goddess and there was no way he could meet her again or wanted to meet her again.

Meeting her basically meant he was dead and no thanks, he didn't want such a thing to happen to him.

'Hmm, whatever, whether this follows the completed version of the story or the incomplete one, I am basically going to do things my way and change stuff, so there really is no need for the story to happen.'

Lucas thought to himself as he walked along with Lucy while holding her hand.

"Time for my question. Tell me about Dwarven history." Lucy asked with a smile.

Lucas nodded and said, "the kingdom was founded by the grandfather of the current guy called Gazelle Dwargo. The things that happened there were…"

Lucas began explaining the pointless history of the Dwarven nation to Lucy. He just said the important bits that he knew about and that was it.

"Yes, that's correct." Lucy nodded and said.

Of course it was correct, he had spent all his free time reading and watching this anime. He knew many things about it.

"Alright, now my–"

Lucas stopped midway when he saw a small wooden hut in front of him. This must be their home, he thought and walked along with Lucy towards it.

The hut was situated in the middle of a patch of grass with it being surrounded by trees. It definitely seemed like a haunted house located in the middle of the woods where the main character's family would choose to reside and get killed.

But, here in this world, ghosts weren't a problem because you could eradicate them with the holy stuff from the church. The church was useful a little bit at least.

Lucas walked inside the fence that lay around the house through the door present and walked towards the front door of the house.

Lucy knocked on the door twice and said, "mom, we're home."

"Coming." Their mother shouted from the inside.

Lucas, who was holding his sister's hand, felt nervous as he heard his mother's voice. He was going to have a look at his mother after so many years. She wasn't dead in this life at least.

His hand began trembling and so did his body as he felt nervous. His palm became sweaty and Lucy noticed the strange behaviour of Lucas. She looked at him and asked,

"Are you okay?"

Lucas nodded his head and said, "yes."

He tried his best to hide his nervousness and not show it on his face.

Lucy felt something was fishy but she didn't ask him any further. If he didn't want to talk more about it, then so be it. She quietly waited for their mother to open the door.

Lucas's heart beat faster as he heard the footsteps of his mother closing towards him. How would she appear after all these years? How would she look in this fantasy world? Was he healthy and well?

There were many questions that popped up in his mind but soon, every question of his vanished as he heard the door creak open and a beautiful silver-haired, purple-eyed lady appeared in front of Lucas.

The lady was taller than Lucas and was wearing a black skirt and white top, an outfit similar to Lucy's. Her face was similar to Lucy's and Lucas's both and looking at this familiar face, Lucas's mind blanked.

Previously, when he saw Lucy, he didn't have such an exaggerated reaction because he was kind of expecting to see her when he reincarnated. However, while they were on their way home, Lucas recalled a lot of incidents that happened back on Earth from his mother raising the two children alone to her dying in a car accident.

All of these memories caused Lucas's mind to blank when he saw his mother. Drops of tears started dripping down as he looked at her with a blank and neutral expression.

Lucy and their mother, Leya, panicked as they saw his expression and Leya immediately hugged Lucas and said,

"What happened, baby? What made you cry so suddenly?"

Leya patted Lucas's back and kissed his forehead while hugging him and asked with genuine concern.

Though she knew why such a thing has happened and was ready to comfort him before, when it actually happened and she saw his sad face, she really felt concerned for him, causing her motherly instinct to kick in at this time and making her rush to comfort him.

Lucas, when he felt his mother's warm hug, hugged her back and also as tightly as he could, seemingly afraid that she might be separated from him again.

Leya felt his grip getting tighter on her but it didn't affect her much. She could feel his emotions and so she rubbed his back and said while kissing his head from above,

"It's okay, it's okay. Mama is here now and she won't go anywhere or leave you alone."

Leya comforted Lucas for a few minutes and he stayed hugging her like that all this while. His chaotic emotions calmed down and clarity returned to him.

He was promised by the goddess that his family won't die a tragic death in this life. Whether she was saying the truth and would uphold her promise or not, that was something Lucas didn't dwell on and looked on the positive side of it to have the condition of his mental health be good.

Lucas let go of Leya and wiped his face with his sleeves. He looked at Leya and Lucy and said,

"I am sorry, my emotions were a bit out of control. Let's go inside, I'll give you an explanation regarding the same."
