Xiao Xiao's Surgery

Tang Chen was unable to forget his conversation with his little sister after leaving the hospital.

The little boy would sit still while wondering what he should do next.

It might be easier for him to convince his little sister that they should not be looking after their father if only Xiao Xiao had never met that man.

But things happened. Xiao Xiao had met the man and was convinced that he was a nice person.

Right now, Tang Chen could only pretend as if he was going to help Xiao Xiao look for their father.

Fortunately for him, Xiao Xiao only met the man briefly and did not know when she was going to see that man again.

"Chen Chen, what's wrong?" 

A warm palm was touching his head. Tang Chen looked up and saw his mother looking at him with the usual smile on his face. 

"You seemed to be deep in your thoughts." Tang Shi Yi observed her son briefly. Then, the smile on her face stretched wide. "Chen Chen, what sort of secret did you and Xiao Xiao discuss earlier?"

"Mommy, I can't tell you. It's a secret between me and Xiao Xiao." He looked at his mother with a serious look on his face. "Mommy, didn't you teach us to hold on to a promise we made? I made a promise to Xiao Xiao. Mommy, I cannot tell you."

Tang Shi Yi laughed. She thought that her son looked quite adorable with the serious look on his face. She could not help but pinch him on the cheek.

A faint sigh escaped her.

Tang Shi Yi thought that she managed to forget about Ye Heng and put what they shared a few years ago in the back of her mind. However, it seemed that forgetting Ye Heng would be difficult with Chen Chen around.

Recently, Tang Shi Yi realized that her son began to resemble a certain someone. In the future, perhaps Chen Chen would have his father's handsome look.

Moreover... recently, she had run into that man again.

Tang Shi Yi recalled that Ye Heng had asked her to contact him just so the two of them could catch up.

She knew that she should contact that man. He had helped her the other night and Quan Lian was hoping that she could get acquainted with the young masters who were with Ye Heng that night.

As A-Link Group partner, Tang Shi Yi knew that this was a great opportunity for the company. She still owed Ye Heng an explanation for her sudden disappearance. 

However, each time that she picked up the phone, Tang Shi Yi found that she was unable to press the call button. She continued to hesitate until a few days had passed.

Tang Shi Yi knew that she was being a coward.

"Mommy."

The cute voice snapped her out of her trance. 

Tang Shi Yi smiled gently when she found that her son was looking at her. "Hmm?"

"How much longer will Xiao Xiao stay at the hospital?" Tang Chen asked. "She seemed quite healthy to me. Can't we bring her home?"

Tang Shi Yi brushed her finger on her son's cheek. "Chen Chen, did you miss your little sister?"

The little boy nodded. 

"Well, Xiao Xiao might look healthier now, but before her surgery, she should have stayed at the hospital where they could monitor her condition."

"Then, when will she have her surgery?"

"I'm not sure." Tang Shi Yi heaved a sigh. "They haven't decided on the date yet. But looking at Xiao Xiao's condition, I'm sure that it would be soon." She tried to smile so that her son would not worry.

However, Tang Shi Yi had talked to the doctor.

Xiao Xiao's condition was not urgent and the hospital was prioritizing those who would need surgery the most.

As a mother, Tang Shi Yi wanted her daughter to have surgery faster so that she could bring her daughter home. However, to push forward Xiao Xiao's surgery, she will need a lot of money and a connection to someone in the hospital.

The mother and son sat in silence for a long time, both were minding their thoughts until the ringing from Tang Shi Yi's phone broke the silence.

Seeing the name on the caller ID, Tang Shi Yi quickly picked up the phone call. "Quan Lian?" Tang Shi Yi spoke as she pressed the phone to her ear.

Quan Lian spoke something that made Tang Shi Yi glance at her son. Then, she looked away before he continued to talk to the man.

Tang Chen watched his mother in puzzlement.

He did not know what his mother spoke to Uncle Quan about, but the way his mother was looking at him was a little strange.

Fortunately, it did not take too long for the conversation to end.

Tang Shi Yi walked into the living room again and looked at her son hesitantly. "Chen Chen, something happened at the company and Mommy will have to go and take a look."

"Oh." Tang Chen lowered his head to hide his disappointment. He thought that he was going to spend his time with his mother. The little boy already guessed that his mother would want him to stay at home with Uncle Yin.

"Chen Chen."

The boy looked up again upon hearing his mother call his name. 

"I was wondering..." Tang Shi Yi flashed a smile. "Would you like to come with me to the office?"

Tang Chen looked at his mother in disbelief. 

"Uncle Yin won't be able to come over and look after you," Tang Shi Yi said. "I can't leave you at home alone. Then, Chen Chen, do you want to come with me?"

"Mommy, I can come with you?"

"Un." Tang Shi Yi nodded. "But you have to promise that you won't run around. You have to sit still in my office and you cannot disturb anyone at work, alright?"

Tang Chen nodded quickly. "Mommy, I know. Chen Chen is very obedient."
