Chapter ten: Newest record

Emma's POV

I think this must be my newest record, first day in PE at a new school and 10 minutes into the match, got me into the nurse's office with a bleeding nose, how beautiful.

I stared at Jace who seemed to be lost in thoughts as he sat quietly staring at nothing in particular. "If I didn't know better, I'd think I won the dare" I said with a smile when he looked up at me, his annoying smirk returning to his face "Maybe I'm trying to make you like the person" he said but it seemed he regretted it immediately as he had a slight frown on his face and he looked away.

I was about saying something else when the popular hotties along with Ana walked into the room. The quiet room soon became loud and noisy.

Jake's arm around Ana's shoulder caught my attention, the girl was turning red. "So we saw this cutie trying to escape PE and thought to help her" Jake said with a smirk identical to his brother's.

Ana escaped his hold and rushed over to the bed where I was seated, "Are you okay though?" she asked while I smiled and nodded at her.

"But seeing the way you're all gathered here, someone would think I broke a bone or something" I joked

"Well I'm simply here for the drama and you fascinate me of course" Felix replied smiling

"So you mean, you don't even care if I got hurt?"

"Not that I don't care persay, but I'm not worried"

"Why?"

"Because Jace's with you obviously" he replied and chuckled.

Matty walked closer to where I was, though his all black biker's outfit made him seem kinda cold and emotionless but he had this very innocent look "Did it hurt though? It looked like it must have hurt a lot" he asked in the softest voice, was the outfit and his usual cold vibes just a facade to cover up his softness?

"Of course it did, I was hit on the nose" I said rather dramatically in an attempt to tease him "Ouch, mannn, your ex's scary" he said turning to Jace who just sighed.

"I never really liked Erika, she seems too perfect, it makes me want to puke" Cindy chipped in as she walked over and sat next to me, turning my face to look at her "But you Hun, I found you cute right from the onset so I'm really pissed at Erika right now" She continued staring at me.

"But why do you think she came back?" Matty asked no one in particular

"The girl irks me but she brings free drama and I'm willing to watch" Felix replied with a groan.

"That's not a very nice thing to say considering the situation" Cindy argued.

Jace looked from his friends to his brother, signalling for help I guess while Jake chuckled. Then came to urge his bickering children to leave me to rest, Felix and Matty groaned like two little children whose been forced to leave their late night cartoons and go to bed.

"See you around cutie" Cindy said and winked at me as she left the room while Felix and Matty waved me off with a smile. Once Jake successfully pushed Felix, Matty and Cindy out, he stopped by the door turned around and said "it's a good thing nothing was raptured, see you around" then he turned to look at Ana, stared shorty at her then smiled and waved her as he left too.

Jace was already on his feet and heading for the door, "I'm sorry for this, I think you were a target for Erika all because of me, but I'll make sure to protect you" he said a little bit too seriously then left the room, leaving just Ana and I.

The room which had come alive with talks here and there quietened again. As much as I didn't want to admit this, I was starting to enjoy this, the drama? no, definitely not the drama. But their company? Now that was a yes.

I never really made friends at all my other schools cause I knew I'd move again after a while but I think I'd give it a try this time, it can't be that bad, right??!....

      Ana's POV

It's been a whole new experience with Emma, there wasn't a boring moment, it's either tensed, shocking, funny and mystifying, you just don't know what would happen next.

I was used to being by myself, well not many people liked being friends with a nerd, they kinda assumed us to be weirdos and I still don't get how they got to that theory.

When Emma first came to school and sat next to me, I thought to try and get myself a friend since I was quite sure she hadn't made any yet, and she did seem nice and pretty as well.

Never in my wildest dream would I have thought my path would have to cross with the popular group of hotties even if my cousin Cindy was one of them.

Though Cindy wanted me to be one of them, she'd always try to change my dress sense and other habits but gave up when she saw that I'll never change. Our paths never did cross until Emma came into the picture.

It's been drama after drama, now Erika's back too, I don't think the drama would ever end. After Emma got hit on the nose and was carried out by Jace, I tried to go after them immediately but of course, nerds weren't very recognized in my school and you'd think it would be different with teachers but it was in fact the worse.

I was literally begging Mr Gean to be excused so I could check up on Emma, not because I wanted to dodge PE, I fancied it but I was worried about Emma.

While I begged, a set of students walked by heading out and they weren't stopped, of course they wouldn't be stopped, they were the popular group of hotties "PGH". There was no such thing as equality, urrrrg.

I was almost giving up when Jake came up behind me, taking me by my hand, "She's with us Mr Gean" he said with a sweet smile and Mr Gean's reaction changed immediately. "Ohhh, I didn't realize, why didn't you tell me that Ana, you may go" He said while I rolled my eyes.

Jake pulled me along with him as we left the gym, "Hi cutie" he said sweetly looking down at me while I stared wordlessly. He didn't let go of my hand even when we met with Felix, Matty and Cindy who looked at us, shared a look between themselves, smiled but said nothing about it.

"Anabelle, seems you'll be the first nerd hottie" Cindy teased "Don't call me Anabelle in public" I groaned while they all laughed, "I think it's cute though" Jake said softly looking at me while I blushed.  Who wouldn't, I mean Jake complimented me, omg.

We got to the nurse's office, Jake left my hand and just before I could miss the warmth of his hand, he threw his hand over my shoulder, pulling me closer to him before we walked into the room, I stared at him but he didn't seem like it was anything serious while I was freaking out internally, goosebumps on my body and butterflies in my stomach.

I pulled away from him after a short while and went to Emma making sure she was okay. During their stay in the room, Jake was rather quiet unlike his chatty friends, so from time to time, I looked up at him but would always catch him staring intently at me like nothing else matters.

Unable to hold eye contact, I'd look away, there probably isn't any meaning to it, there's no need to overthink things, why would Jake like me? It just wasn't possible.

After all the chatter and laughter, the PGH were leaving, after Felix, Matty and Cindy left, Jake stood by the door bade Emma good bye then stared at me shortly, smiled and left the room. Did this guy know what he was doing to me?

Emma was discharged shortly after and thankfully our classes went by peacefully, quietly and free from drama. At the end of school, Emma and I walked hand in hand to the school park.

Emma had offered to give me a ride home with her brother which I accepted. I opened the back door, ready to hop in when Jake drove and stopped just in front of me, "Hey cutie, how about I give you a ride home" He said sweetly like usual.

What was going on right now?
