Chapter 13: Something is off

Hearing her yell made me stop dead in my movement. I felt my heart stop with a chill running down my spine. I was stiffened with a shocking freight. My whole body was quivering with fear.

"Before you go just please go pick yourself out an outfit and some shoes. If you do not wish him to ride you anywhere. I'll tell my husband you left. He'll be here in about twenty minutes. You have more than enough time to pick something before he arrives." Said Maria trying to ease her freight in a softer tone.

"Thank you." I said more easily. "I am truly grateful for all you did for me."

"Come now, dear." Maria gives her a bright smile. "Let's get you some jeans, a shirt, coat, and shoes." More than happy to help, she showed in her bright eyes.

Maria grabs my hand gently and walked me out front of the clothing displays. I looked around, trying to see what, I needed.

Not wanting to play around, I grabbed a pair of jeans, then looked for a shirt, and a hoodie jacket. Dim light will be cold, I thought. Then the dark will be even colder, I remembered while looking.

Until all of a sudden, I heard the door open and close with a ringing. Making me feel worried this wasn't good. Since Maria closed her store.

A tall broad man walked in with a straight firm posture. He has darker brown hair, and deep roundish grey steel piercing eyes. His face was masculine squarish bold look, and a nicely defined jawline. His nose has a straight bridge and lips appeared to be average. The man is very handsome in his appearance.

As he came further up, I noticed he has three rectangle bar line tattoos on the side of his neck. His right ear is pierced, and he wore snake bite, piercings on his lip side.

Despite his attractive good looks, I found him very terrifying! Nothing like Maria, I thought. She looks so delicate and beautiful. This man looked so dangerously handsome, but his eyes prowled like a killer lurking in the mist.

Without hesitating, Maria walked up to the man and hooked her arms around his nape. Right away, he begins kissing her gently with such compassion.

This is her husband! I was a bit shocked. This man is tough looking with a built body tone. I'd ever would have expected, a sweet lady like her, would be married to such a rough looking hybrid-man. Indeed, he is very handsome. However, he certainly has a daunt appearance.

Sure now I knew he's not average or a commoner Kind. He don't even look like a Businessman. Maybe he's a hunter, Society Kind? I was taking random guesses to myself here.

It hasn't even been five minutes yet and he's here already! Did Maria catch on, I had lied to her? Something about this is making me feel uneasy.

Maria turned her heard my way and was calling me over to them. By waving her hand out to come over. Still holding the jeans in my shaking hands, while I walked slowly over to her. I gulped loudly out from depts of my throat. Trying to calm my shaking before reaching them.

"This is my husband John! It seems he has arrived very early. Maria said excited with her one hand on his pecs and her other arm around his wrist. "I thought you said twenty minutes?" She asked him oddly, raising a brow.

Still kinda holding her with his right arm on her hip. "Since when did it matter what time I come? I was only by the park talking with the guys." John replied çhuckling.

Maria smiled having such adoration for the man. "This is the woman I found. She was just grabbing some clothes and leaving." Maria explained to her husband.

John looks at me with a protuberant kinda stare. Having this crooked, faint grin to him, curling his lips. Like he was studying my every moment, as if to say I was a threat.

I knew hybrid-men are very protective of there families. Especially, with a newborn and small child. Yet, I am only a hybrid-woman, I shouldn't have any threat to his family. Obviously the man was scheming something, I presumed.

From watching his expression with his wife. I could tell he simply adored her and stared at her with such compassion. Maybe that's why she is with someone so fierce looking. Although, towards me he is intimidating, I just wanted to leave more, each time he glanced his menace eyes my way. Looking at both of them.

"Well thank you for everything I need to be going now."

In a strong tone John asked, "Why don't you allow us to help you?"

"I-I'll be f-fine t-thank you." I said stutter in my voice.

"Why are you in such a hurry?" Raising his eyebrow, he asked boldly.

I was stumped by his questions. Not really knowing what to say. For all, I wanted to do was get away. I kept this awkward silence between us. Trying so hard not to look directly into his striking eyes. Surely, he had to be a hunter which wasn't good news for me. Seeing how I am a runaway slave.

He took a huge breath. "Looking like that your not going to get far." Breaking the strange silence, with this abnormal faint smirk. "If you haven't noticed. Your wearing messy torn clothes, you have no shoes, and your hair is a complete disaster. You have open cuts and dried smeared blood, all over your feet, and legs. My wife is right, you need help! Your going to end up attracting unwanted attention to yourself. Just wait and let us help you." John said strongly.

Looking at him I knew he was right but something about him was completely off. I don't like the feeling he gives me. His voice is to assertive. The mischievous smile on his face wasn't right. Then his demand to stay was like a warning to me, that I really needed to leave.

Yes, I needed help but he didn't give me a warm feeling. I just knew he wasn't the one to help me. I'd been around many hybrid-men in my life. He has the same lurking deviant grin to his face. That kinda grin to say something was most certainly wrong.

"No, thank you!" I replied in a directive tone myself. "I need to be going!"

John darken his expressions towards me standing in front of him. My body wanted to quiver, but I kept my firm stands, trying to tame down my fear.

But he took in a breath and said calmly. "Ok, relax. Go ahead, take some clothes and good luck to you. If you fine that you need help. Come back to the store and will help you."
