Isekai’d into a world of magic and swords. Fantasy and Wonders.
Not unlike the countless novels I used to binge-read all day and night. A dearest fantasy and wish of mine has been granted. In this new world fraught with wars and attrition, I sincerely believe that I was the one destined to usher in an era of peace and prosperity.
However, reality was different from fiction.
And reality taught me multiple things.
It taught me that the reality of my situation was different from my fantasies.
Being isekai'ed in a world fraught with wars and conflicts, without a special ability, without a cheat power. In a world where strength determines everything, from your worth to your social standing. In such a world, being an ordinary high school graduate whose only act of violence perpetrated happen while in middle school, was a death sentence.
It taught me that I was not special. In fact, I was even a defunct product.
“I mean, it’s not expected for someone of the Warrior class or even the Archer class to be able to use magic. If we could, we wouldn’t be in this class after all. But how the fuck are you unable to use your class abilities, kid? Just dump points in a skill and use one.”
“What? A warrior that doesn’t have a single skill? No. Someone from the warrior class that can’t use a skill. What the fuck! You’re literally trash. Then what good are you for?”
“Typical, I should have guessed it. Africans sure are trash. Your area followed by South America are always the one with the greatest casualties percentage. How the fuck did you even pass the Rite of Passage? Useless fuck.”
It taught me that I was and will amount to nothing.
“Even as a meatshield, you wouldn’t last long enough to be of use…”
“Why haven’t you said anything until now? Why??? Useless fuck, if we live after this, I swear that I’m going to beat the shit out of you, you fucking bastard!”
It taught me that that training, careful work, perseverance and diligence will only be viewed as one person’s talent and genius instead of hard-work.
“Have you heard of this guy?”
“Ian Bosworth, you mean?”
“Yeah, he became a Ranker in… just 4 years… that’s crazy fast. With this kind of talent, there’s a real chance that he made it to High Ranker too.”
“I know a pal of mine that says he team up with him, he swear the guy was apparently trash.”
“Really? A guy that reaches level 5 under a Gen? Bullshit. It’s just guild propaganda to make you believe that if a supposed good-for-nothing can do it, you can too. Just bullshit.”
It taught me that even after reaching the peak of what was possible to reach short of being a god... that because of the path I treading upon, I was destined to be the Protagonist stepping stone.
I took exception to that.
If by virtue of being Isekai'ed doesn't confer me the status of the Protagonist and all that entails, then rewinding time, and starting everything from scratch, thus becoming a Regressor, ought to.
