Grimmjow's eyes widened as he felt the change in the atmosphere. "What the hell is this?" He growled, his fists clenching in frustration.
Kai didn't look at him. His gaze was focused on the mirror-like surface of the barrier that reflected the moonlit sky. He lifted his zanpakuto, pointing it towards the Espada. "This," he said, his voice resonating through the sudden silence, "is your demise."
"You are now trapped in a Mirror World, a dimension where you can hurt no one!" Kai hissed, his voice ringing with a cold anger that none of the girls had ever seen from him before. His eyes were a steady flame, the playful glint replaced with a fierce determination that was impossible to ignore.
Grimmjow's fists tightened, his teeth grinding in frustration. "What are you blabbering about?" He sneered, his voice rippling with hostility. "You think a mere barrier can stop us, you fool?"
Kai didn't answer. His gaze was focused on Grimmjow, and his lips curled into a lazy smile. The silence that followed was pregnant with anticipation, the tension so thick it could be cut with a knife.
In the next moment, Dei Roi lunged towards the barrier, his hand transformed into a sharp, claw-like structure aimed directly at Kai. However, as soon as his hand hit the barrier, he was thrown backward, his attack reflected back at him with a shocking force that sent him crashing into the rooftop.
Grimmjow's eyes widened, his smirk fading into a surprised scowl. He watched as Dei Roi staggered to his feet, confusion etching itself across his face.
Ignoring the scene, Kai turned to Matsumoto, his eyes softening slightly. "Stay close to me," he instructed, his voice low and calm.
Matsumoto nodded, her hand gripping her zanpakuto tightly. "Understood," she replied, her gaze resolute.
Edrad and Yylfordt, having recovered from their initial shock, rushed towards the barrier together, their spiritual pressure increasing as they readied their attacks. However, just as their fists made contact with the barrier, they were repelled back with an immense force, their attacks reflecting back at them.
The rooftop erupted in chaos, the Arrancars caught off guard by the sudden turn of events. Yet, in the midst of all the confusion, Kai remained calm, the playful glint returning to his eyes.
"All this commotion," he sighed, scratching the back of his head. "You guys really don't understand the concept of peace, do you?"
Despite the situation, Matsumoto couldn't help but smile at his words. She had initially been skeptical of Kai's lazy demeanor, but now, seeing him in battle, she couldn't help but respect his ability to maintain his cool under pressure.
But their moment of respite was short-lived. Grimmjow, now visibly angered, leaped towards the barrier, his hand transformed into a massive claw aiming to rip Kai apart.
However, as Grimmjow's claw hit the barrier, it reflected back, the force of his attack pushing him backward and causing him to crash onto the rooftop.
For a moment, there was silence, the Arrancars staring at the barrier in disbelief. Grimmjow, now on his knees, glared at Kai, his eyes seething with a mixture of frustration and anger.
"You… bastard…" Grimmjow growled, slowly pushing himself up. His predatory eyes were now focused on Kai, a dangerous glint flashing across them.
Kai merely raised an eyebrow, a smug smile tugging at his lips. "What's the matter, Grimmjow?" He teased, his voice laced with amusement. "Can't handle your own attacks?"
Grimmjow's face twisted in a snarl, his spiritual pressure surging as he prepared for another attack. But Kai seemed unfazed, his gaze steady and confident. His eyes never left Grimmjow, the playful glint never fading.
Grimmjow, consumed by rage and humiliation, began to transform. The air surrounding him vibrated with energy as his body contorted, bones shifting, muscles bulging. His teeth grew sharper, his eyes a deeper, more sinister shade of blue, his hair lengthening and spiking wildly around him. A low growl rumbled from deep within his chest, echoing ominously across the rooftop. His form was shifting, his human-like appearance now replaced by a sleek, panther-like creature. The transformation was nothing short of terrifying, his now feral eyes focused intently on Kai.
Even in his new form, Grimmjow maintained a level of awareness, his eyes filled with determination and hatred. A growl echoed around them, the raw power of his new form making the rooftop shudder. The Arrancars, now recovering from the previous shock, watched in silent admiration and apprehension. This was their leader, the Sixth Espada, in his released state, Pantera.
"Kai," Matsumoto whispered, her voice heavy with worry. But Kai's gaze remained focused on Grimmjow, a lazy smile tugging at his lips as if amused by the display.
Ignoring the fear-filled whispers and nervous glances around him, Grimmjow gathered his spiritual energy. His hand extended, a massive blue sphere of energy forming at his palm. The Gran Rey Cero, an attack exclusive to the Espada, pulsed with destructive power. A smirk played on Grimmjow's feral face as he thrust the Cero towards Kai, his guttural growl resonating with sheer malice.
Kai's lazy smile never left his face, although his eyes held a "flicker of dread". The rooftop trembled under the force of the impending attack, a huge wave of destructive energy hurtling towards the barrier. But, instead of shattering it, the barrier sucked the Cero in.
There was a moment of eerie silence before the rooftop was engulfed in a massive explosion. The force of the blast sent a shockwave through the area, the echoes of a loud scream rippling through the night air.
Grimmjow's eyes widened in shock, his focus shifting from Kai to the site of the explosion. His attack had detonated in the midst of his companions. He could hardly believe his eyes. His own Gran Rey Cero, one of the most destructive attacks in the Arrancar arsenal, used against his own comrades. The smoke cleared, revealing the injured Arrancars, their bodies seared and clothes tattered.
"What did you do?" Grimmjow's voice echoed through the sudden silence, fury and confusion lacing his tone. He glared at Kai, his eyes glinting with rage.
Kai raised an eyebrow, looking genuinely confused. "Isn't that what a mirror should do? Reflect things?" He asked, as if genuinely questioning Grimmjow's understanding of how a mirror worked.
