"I never asked you or forced you to love me back, I never did. I did everything as you liked. I always put your comfort first. I made you and your happiness my priority," I yelled holding back the tears that were threatening to come out.
"You can never be loved, Vera," the whispers came back, "Accept it."
"NO," I shout back at those voices, my knees go weak and I fall down on the cold marble floor.
The pain, it's coming back. My head, my eyes and my entire body is burning and aching.
"No, no, no...,"I keep repeating to myself as I cover my ears with my hands hoping the voices will stop.
"Verena?"
I hear his voice, his sweet voice, but I cannot respond. I see him kneeling down to come to my level. He holds my face and plants a soft kiss on my forehead, this is the first time he did that.
"I know...I...I know you never forced me, Vera."
Is he crying? I look up at his face, even though my sight is blurred because of the pain, it's enough to know that he is crying.
He moves his hands away from my face, "It's...It's just, I...I cannot love you for reasons beyond mentioning," he whispers to me. After that he says a few more things but I don't listen, I cannot.
Everything starts moving and then it turns black as I pass out.
