Dinner

Michael

For someone who had experienced something as humiliating being slapped and getting denied by your partner, I had to admit that Sylvia Mulberry had a lot of willpower. Most ladies would probably not show up to work for a whole week, few might resort to self harm, but not Sylvia Mulberry. For a while I really thought she was driven by her thirst to overcome poverty, but after she rejected being my assistant the first time, I pushed that precognition I had of her aside. While she was in desperate need of money, I was certain she wasn't solely driven by material things.

After her first question, I had decided to tone down my dominance, it didn't seem to be affecting her after all. She was a lot different from the timid lady I saw yesterday, and she had surprised me. And it had been a long time since a woman surprised me.

"Tell me Michael, what sort of women are you into?" That was her first question, and quite frankly it was the last thing I had expected her to ask. It wasn't the first time that particular question have been thrown at me, in fact it was something I got very often. However, coming from someone like Sylvia Mulberry, and at that hour, it was just very random.

"What type of woman do you think I like?" I had returned. She leaned back in her seat and took a minute to study me fully. Her eyes moved from the accessories on my body to my features, and just for a brief moment she made me self conscious and a bit anxious. Most times I wouldn't care about what people like her had to say about me, but this time I was actually looking forward to something interesting.

"A submissive lady. Someone who wouldn't undermine your authority." She had concluded and I scoffed.

"And would you consider yourself a submissive lady? Someone who wouldn't undermine my authority?"

"It depends, I can be any woman you want me to be."

I took a minute to study the lady before me. It was obvious something was going on with her. From what I've read about her she was most likely the timid type. She was twenty five and barely had up to three relationships, including her little fling with Antonio. It was wild how just one experience could change someone's life completely, and witnessing the change in Sylvia had me intrigued and interested in her all of a sudden.

"Let's save this discussion for another time, perhaps over dinner?"

Just for a brief second, I saw her eyes glisten up, but it was quickly overcome by the cold Facade she was putting on at the moment. I understood why she would change her whole personality, but it didn't sit right with me. While I found this side of her entertaining and fun, I wanted to know the real Sylvia. She was obviously one of those ladies that didn't learn until they get hurt several times, and the party last night had been her breaking point.

I could get why she would still have feelings for Antonio even after their breakup. Not only was he a top model, he had the looks of an angel, and being his side all day made things even more difficult for Sylvia. She has probably suffered more than any of Antonio's ex girlfriends, and he had been brutal to keep her as his secretary even when he knew how she felt about him. I definitely would have reprimanded Antonio for his actions, but his personal life was none of my concern.

"Tonight?" She inquired.

"Yes. Seven PM, I'll come pick you up if that's okay?" I offered and Sylvia immediately lost her cool. Her eyes darted around the room anxiously while she struggled to voice out her next words.

"I'm not sure it's a good idea, maybe I should just—"

"You said you wanted to know everything about me right? I feel the same way too. In fact, let's have dinner at your place, and maybe the next time would be at my place, fair?"

She didn't seem satisfied with my offer and I knew exactly why, inferiority complex. Most people assumed that members of the higher society wanted nothing to do with the lesser masses, and while most of it was true, I was one of the few exceptions. I didn't judge people based off of what I see, I always did my best to find out more before I conclude. And so far, the people who were on the same level as I was were the worst kind of people. Seventy percent of them were obsessed with riches and would trample over friendship just to get what they wanted.

I understood that the world of business was filled with monsters and not friends. But sometimes, it was good to take a break from the competition and just relax. For six years straight I've not had the chance to really live life the way I wanted, but perhaps things might change with this my little assistant. I admired her previous lifestyle, a life where the only thing you had to worry about was rent and not about other companies trying to run you out of business. A life where your life wasn't constantly being threatened by your rivals. It was a good life, one that most lesser members of the society have failed to appreciate.

"Fine." She finally accepted. "Thank you." She whispered and I arched a brow at her words. She didn't repeat her words even after understanding that I wanted to hear her say those words a second time. Instead, she lowered her face shyly before quickly turning away from my inquisitive eyes.

"I think you should go back home. Get some rest, and get on to preparing for our dinner tonight. It would be disappointing to not impress your boss on his first visit, wouldn't it?"

She smiled before standing from where she sat, her face still lowered, and her eyes still worked hard to avoid mine. Without saying a word she walked out of the room and I smiled. Sylvia Mulberry, she was definitely an interesting lady.
