In Another World as a…Bus Driver?

Third person POV

Benjamin Taklaw might seem to be an ordinary Filipino high school boy living in a provincial town in the Philippines' Bicol region, but he has a strange dream: to be a bus driver like his father. Day after day, he would greet him coming home every 8 or 9 in the evening, often with snacks he bought from his daily trips. He was fond of him. His mother, who was a teacher at his local high school, also taught him to live a simple life with barely any problems because she and her husband didn't want him to get pressured by the demands and expectations of this world.

 It seems that he is living a normal life, and he is working and studying hard to achieve his dream job. But, one Tuesday morning, he and his mother were crossing a street in their town when suddenly, a truck was going towards them. The truck driver tries to step on the brakes, but the brakes fail to do so. Then, seeing that it would hit his mother, he pushed her out of the way, taking the hit instead of her. He is killed, and his mother cries about his death.

 "No…it can't be!" his last words echoed in his mind before breathing his last breath.

 Later, he woke up, only to see was somewhere small. He got up, seeing that he was in a vehicle, and the place he had been sleeping in was a small bed in the back, which could be folded when not being used. But, shockingly, the vehicle he had sleeping in was a bus, which was an ordinary one.

 "What the…? I am… in a bus?" his mind raced before he began to walk through the narrow aisle.

 In the driver's seat, he looks at a small mirror, only to see that his physical appearance has changed: his original black hair and eyes are gone, and they are replaced with dark blue hair and brown eyes. "Woah…" he was amazed. "Am I being reincarnated in another world? Or is this the same world, but I'm in a different body?" Then, he saw his license lying on a small foldable table and picked it up. He then found out that his new name in this life was Russell May.

 "So that's my new name in this life…" he thought.

Also, he found out that his occupation in this life is bus driver, hence the reason why he woke up on that bus.

Shocked, he looked at his clothes, which were, of course, a bus driver's uniform, but it was simple in design and only used 3 colors, white, blue, and dark blue. The set of clothes consisted of an outer blue business suit, a white, buttoned-up shirt with long sleeves, and a dark blue necktie, complete with a pair of blue pants with two pockets, a dark blue bus driver's cap, and a pair of black shoes without any shoelaces and with white socks in it.

 Now overjoyed that he had achieved of getting his dream, but humble job, Benjamin, now known as Russell May, opens the bus door to run in joy. He did so, but he saw that the world he was now in was…different. Unlike his previous world, the world he was in was full of strange monsters. Dragons of different elements and colors can be seen flying in the sky. Other monsters like elves and goblins are also can be seen running around in the woods nearby. Looking around his surroundings, he was amazed and dumbfounded by them. His first thought was right, while his second one was debunked as false.

 "So…this is my new life in this world?" he thought.

He then glanced at the bus, which was now his bus.

 "What would this thing be useful for?" he thought again.

 Then, a screen appeared before him, informing him that he was now reincarnated in this world. It then told him that he will be using the bus for service in providing transportation for everyone.

 "Oh…wow…" Russell responded.

And then, the screen shows him the map of the world, which has black lines indicating the routes and possible routes from one place to another.

According to that map, his location was in a town called Hadrianwood, which was a farming town located in the western region of the Kingdom of the Southern Plains.

"Okay, Southern Plains?" he commented while browsing the map for more places. "Pretty nice name though."
