Do you think she's possessed?

When Heaven went to the kitchen the other day, everyone thought it was a one-time thing. She was probably bored and wanted to try out new things. Thus, when she returned to the kitchen with indescribable fire in her eyes, she spooked everyone!

"Hey… what can you say?" whispered a maid to the other as they watched the young madam monopolize the kitchen again. "Do you think she's possessed?"

"Can you please just shut up?" the other maid scrunched her nose up. "If the young master hears you, he will be very scared."

"The young master isn't here."

"I don't know if that is a good thing." The maid set her eyes back to where Heaven and Miriam were. The rest of the maids were on standby, in case the young madam would need their assistance. Even the head chef was supervising — Heaven's request.

"Mhm."

"Why are you all here… again?" Mrs. Deng trailed off as she appeared behind the maids, only to find out the answer in the kitchen. Mrs. Deng slowly folded her arms under her bust, narrowing her eyes, watching Miriam and the chef assist the young madam.

"Hm! The last time she touched anything in the kitchen, I heard the people who ate it had a stomach ache. Even if she use the excuse of cooking for the young master and the master, I don't think they'd even look at it." Mrs. Deng sneered, chin up. "Moreover, the master's schedule is packed until next week. It's not like he has time to come home to this house." — to come home to a woman like Heaven.

Mrs. Deng laughed as she turned around to leave, letting Heaven do what she wanted. Meanwhile, the servants could only follow the head maid's figure with their eyes and sigh.

"I didn't like the young madam, but the young master and the master were both kind people. If the young madam will make them happy, shouldn't she be happy as well?" a young maid wondered, keeping her eyes on Mrs. Deng's back. "She's being too much sometimes."

"Shh. Whatever you feel, you should keep them to yourself." The other maid beside her hushed. "You know how cruel Mrs. Deng could be."

"Sometimes, I just want to cheer for the young madam, so she can put Mrs. Deng in her place."

The servant who warned her colleague just now could not help but sigh. She snapped her eyes to the direction Mrs. Deng disappeared to, and then to Heaven who was busy in the kitchen.

"Did she truly mean to change?"

Heaven owed these servants no explanation. The only people she had to explain herself to was Dominic and Sebastian. Still, most of the workers in the manor genuinely care for the young master and the master. After all, Dominic might be an aloof man, but he had taken care of them all like a part of his family. Even with the worker's personal problems and needs, he would extend his helping hand to them.

They were all indebted to him and also forever grateful. Hence, they wanted to give Heaven the benefit of the doubt and help her put this house and family in proper order.

"DONE!" Heaven grinned, hands on her hips, eyes on the pot before her.

"Young Madam, it looks and smells really nice." Miriam, who was beside Heaven looked at the dish the young madam cooked on her own.

Miriam and Heaven shifted their eyes when the head chef took a spoonful to take. Heaven held her breath, watching the chef's reaction.

"It tastes…" The chef set his eyes back to Heaven curiously. "Madam, didn't you say it's your first time making this dish? I don't believe you. It tastes authentic — as if made by a local with a secret recipe added on it."

"Ah… haha! I mean, it's my first time making it after a long time." Heaven quickly corrected while waving her hand. "So, isn't it too spicy?"

"No, Madam. It's perfect."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Heaven patted her chest and heaved a sigh of relief. Meanwhile, Miriam was looking at her affectionately. Whatever other people say, Miriam never doubted Heaven's intention since the day she announced she would try to fix her family.

Still, seeing Heaven doing that put a lot of ease in Miriam's heart. 'The master and the young master had been through a lot…'

"Do you think Dom will like it?" Heaven immersed herself in her conversation with the head chef, getting more information on what sort of dishes Dominic liked.

"For sure, Madam." The chef bowed. "Anyway, didn't you have plans to have dinner together? Why don't you leave the rest to me so you can rest and prepare?"

"But…" Heaven frowned, reluctant to only cook one dish for him. But since she didn't have much time, she had to make a critical decision. "Fine. I will help make the main dish later. Please arrange the table as well."

"For sure, Ma'am."

Heaven nodded in satisfaction, facing Miriam. As soon as her eyes landed on her, Heaven's brows rose.

"Miriam, are you alright?"

"Hmm? Yes, Madam." Miriam smiled and nodded weakly.

"Oh… okay. I'll leave the rest to the head chef while I doll up. Tell me when Dom is here, alright?" Heaven offered Miriam a big bright smile while the latter nodded. "If that's all, then I'd go ahead. Head chef, please don't disappoint."

"I'll do my best."

With that being said, Heaven skipped her steps back to her room while humming. One would say she was in a good mood because no one had seen how her expression turned cold the second she closed the bedroom door behind her.

Heaven stood with the door behind her, wearing a sharp look no one had seen yet. She snapped her eyes at her drawer before marching into it to pick up a notebook. On the first page, it says; [ suspect list ]. She then reached for the pen, tracing the last row of the list, and reluctantly wrote a name she hoped to never write.

Miriam.
