It had been two days of continuous attacks and none of Mathilde's troops dared to send their troops forward again, not a single one. Noah Mathilde was furious, even hanging the captain of Mathilde's cavalry for his failure to finish off Helferich's army.
Noah thought that doing so might encourage his soldiers to fight. However, the result was bad. Mathilde's troops became timid and afraid of making mistakes, their lives were threatened by two deaths: death by Helferich or death by Noah Mathilde.
That afternoon, the three trebuchets continued to perform their duties, throwing stones to hit the north wall of the city. From afar, Quentin could see the severe damage to the one spot that was constantly taking the brunt of the trebuchet attacks, but Quentin marveled at how they were repairing the wall from the inside.
