CHAPTER FORTY-TWO
Looks like someone had a crush. Bog observed, and I looked around. "Who? Theres no one else in this room."
You, idiot. Bog scoffed, and I scoffed even harder. "Of course I do. Dont you know this person is literally my ideal type? Cordelia 1st was so lucky." I brushed a stray hair away from Zal's forehead. Suddenly, a hand grabbed my wirst and I spun around. Zal, now awake, was eyeing me. His eyes had a strange fire in them. What? Who? Zal? was this even the right person? "Who are you talking to, Cordelia?" He asked, squeezing my wrist. It hurt. I was still looking at Zal's eyes, meserized. Zal flinched and looked away. what??? "You can hear me?" I asked, confused. Since my conversation with Bog were technically prayers to the heavens, no one else could hear them. "No. I can't, even though I can see you mouth moving. I can't even read your lips, which is why I'm only more confused."
"Let go of my wrist first." I said firmly. Zal looked at his hand, then at mine, and then his eyes changed again. Now to regretful, and a bit scared. "Uhm, Zal, are you okay?" I asked, and Zal smiled sadly. Now I was completely dumbfounded. what??? "Oh, but you probably imagined that last part. You just woke up, after all." I said, rubbing my wrist. "Why were you watching me sleep, then?" Zal asked, rubbing his eyes and covering his mouth as he yawned. I froze awkwardly. "u-uhm - I was… reading… the book underneath you!" I said, lying though my teeth. "You can read upside-down?" Zal asked, just as confused as me, and I ended up lying through my teeth again. "Then what does it say? Zal asked, and I opened my mouth. "Uhm. You woke up before I could read anything."
"If you didn't read anything, then why were you watching me-" Zal started, but I had already died of embarrasment 5 times over. Im pretty sure my soul was floating away. If I squinted, I could already see it ascending to the heavens. "Forget I said, anything! Bye!" I said, rushing off. Oh my god.
That was hard to watch, Apostle. I thought you were good at lying. Bog chuckled and I swatted at the air above my head. I Know!
