CHAPTER TWELVE
"Yeah, sidekick. Im paying you." I said, rushing out the door. "Wait for me! Where are we even going?!" Levi asked, exasperated, and I dashed down the street again, but this time with shoes. No time to wait - I needed to prove the fact that I had divine power to get selected. And to do that, I needed to awaken my divine power. Check, that was done. By accident, but still. "Now I need to find the town hall," I said, stopping to survey the middle of the street while standing in the middle of the street. "It's the other way," Levi said, jabbing a thumb backward. As I spun around, I patted him on the head. "Thanks, you're like a tour guide! Let's goo!" I said, dashing off again,
"Still the wrong direction." Levi sighed.
After twenty minutes, the Tour guide/Extra/Swordsman/loyal best friend and the pushover/priestess/gambling addict/8-year-old had reached the town hall.
As usual, I wasted no time in slamming open the door. Noble, my foot - but it was fine. The poor people inside jumped at the loud noise, and I dramatically held up my index finger.
nothing happened. Everyone was staring now. "Hey, wait for it-" I said, and suddenly, a spark erupted out of my finger, and then, like twenty more. Oooh, like fireworks. They danced around my entire arm and eventually condensed into one solid, glowing blob - like a gauntlet. Instead of just staring, everyone was now gaping. "Here. Sorry, it took a while. I have the strongest divine power on the planet, so can I be first blood this year?" I said, opening and closing my hand. If I tried to touch the glowing stuff, my hand started burning. Cordelia could bring people alive at age 10 - she was strong enough to heal a small town when she could Zal. Levi was also staring at the blob, fascinated.
Ooooh, I could become an arsonist with this. Wait, no! I was going to become a priestess according to the book, so thoughts like that were probably why Bog abandoned Cordelia in the first place. Now that my power was awakened and working well, there was something else I had to worry about.
Cordelia could hear Bog, the creator of the universe, in her head all the time. that's just how strong her divine power was. But when she hesitated while healing people, Bog noticed she was a pushover and took away her divine power, which is why she had no defenses against the plague and died. Woohooo, three cheers for my trashy storyline!
"Of course. The food festival starts in 3 hours - plenty of time. But answer some questions first." The priests led me over to a dark room, and I peered down it cautiously. Since Cordelia hadn't revealed her powers until late, and by then she had already been busy traveling to heal people and never got to be first blood, I had never written this part in either. I was now heavily regretting making the church system set against good people and easier for the corrupt. There was no telling whether these priests were good or bad - but I suppose that's why I had gotten Levi.
"Cor-?" Levi tried, but I fearlessly jumped in. "It's fine. We can team up to beat them up if anything goes wrong. I do regret making the church system biased, though. No wonder the Ruthim empire had no problems burning this place to the ground." I mused, and Levi stopped in his tracks. "what?" he said, but the priests just shot me glances. No doubt they had figured out by now who I really was - or at least as much as I wasn't from this world. "...So it's really you." One of them said and I nodded. At least I had done well making the priests sly - they caught on quickly.
"Bog's Apostle."
