Trash Bins are Useful [1/2]

Arlan ran through a bridge as he skillfully dodged some attacks from the monsters from the Antimatter Legion.

"Raahh!" Suddenly, three more Antimatter Voidrangers appeared and intercepted Arlan's path.

"Tch," Arlan clicked his tongue. He then quickly set aside the unconscious man on his shoulder and prepared to fight them. "Just how many of them are there?!"

Without a second thought, Arlan charged forward the enemies and fought them head-on.

Meanwhile, the 'unconscious' man slightly opened his eyes and looked at Arlan's figure that was fighting the Voidrangers.

'It really is another human...' He thought with elation. For the first time in five years, he had finally met another human. 'I'm finally... out of that planet...'

He then looked at his uniform which had bloodstains— obviously from himself— and couldn't help but recall what Arlan said previously.

'Me? Locke?' He thought with great curiosity. That was not his name. 'Did I... possess another person's body...?'

He was a person from the 21st century, as such, he naturally knows these kinds of things.

In fact, it wasn't that surprising to him at all. After all, he had already been transported to another world before— possessing another person's body didn't seem all that strange to him now.

'Ah...!' Suddenly, his head throbbed as sharp pain reached the top of his head which caused him to slightly flinch and instinctively closed his eyes.

After a few seconds, he opened his eyes once more— but now with a sense of clarity. 'I... See...'

'I just received the original body's memories.' He thought before adjusting his silver-rimmed glasses. 'Locke Harcane... An orphan from the Epsilon XII galaxy...'

'He only managed to get into the Herta Space Station as a Junior ecology researcher due to his achievements...' He recalled the original body's memories with perfect clarity. 'A quiet individual and seldom interacts with others...'

For a moment, it was as if he had resonated himself with the original Locke. Isolated from everyone else and persevered with only his feat... Yes, it reminded him so much of him.

'Don't worry... Locke.' He thought as he embraced these new memories and absorbed them into his mind. 'I'll make sure... to live the fullest with your body...'

Indeed. From now, he was no longer the Overlord of the Legion. But rather... he was now Locke.

'So now... Rest at ease...' Although he was known as an Overlord, he at least had a sense of honor. As such, he shall embrace the original body's identity and intend to keep his word.

With a small struggle, he slowly lifted his arm and looked at his hand. He then looked at the person that carried him and saw that he was still fighting off the monsters.

'...Habits never change...' He thought before using all of his energy to stand up. He managed to raise himself, but he felt a little dizzy and staggered a bit. He held on to a near trash bin to support himself.

"Haa..." He exhaled deeply as he struggled to keep himself up. He looked at Arlan once more. 'Looks like he's too busy to notice me...'

He then looked at the trash bin near him and suddenly, he received an idea. 'From the way I observed earlier... this seems to be a futuristic space station...'

'That means...' Without a second of thought, he threw his hands into the trash can and scavenged for potential items he could use to 'construct' something. 'Since this place resembles a sci-fi station... I bet there'll be spare parts in here...'

He ran his hand through many garbage such as plastic and some water bottles, but after a while, he managed to grab something that feels metallic.

He grabbed it and pulled it and... got himself a phone with a cracked screen. He looked at it and thought to himself, 'Who would throw a phone into a trash can...? That's not the proper way to dispose of something like this...'

It was common sense and his attachment to technology. Seeing something like this just randomly thrown into a trash bin slightly enraged him.

He shook his head and focus, 'Whatever... this will do...'

He then placed his right hand on the phone and closed his eyes. He then thought of something. 'I hope I can still use this...'

'[Dissect]' He opened his eyes and used one of his abilities from the works he was previously at. He then silently prayed. 'Please work...'

It took a while for it to happen, however, a faint yellow glow soon appeared in his hand. Seeing the familiar glow, his eyes lit up. 'Yes!'

'Dissect, split, and print!' He ordered the ability— and, just as it was told, the yellow glow soon started growing tendrils and began to attach to the phone to disassemble it into different parts.

In less than a few seconds, the phone got completely disassembled. Moreover, they also disappeared as if they had been absorbed by the yellow light in his hand.

Locke closed his eyes and soon, a visual presentation appeared in his mind.

There, the various metals that composed the broke phone were presented. He looked at the materials and was amazed. 'Fascinating... there are all sorts of new materials that I haven't seen before...'

He then pondered something as he inspected them. They were unfamiliar materials and he wondered if the dissect ability could still work on them. 'Let's see... is it possible to form a duo with these...?'

A duo was a common turret in the previous world he was in. It was also the first weapon he utilized and used to defend his base from the fungi.

Shortly after asking this question to himself, a blueprint appeared in his mind!

'It is!' A faint smirk soon appeared on his face. Soon, he commanded his ability to form the blueprint and quickly gave it to his other ability, [Construct]. 'Now... Construct a portable duo... a gun.'

With this thought, he lifted his other hand and a blue glow appeared. Soon, blue lines of grids began to appear on top of his palm and a silhouette of a gun began to appear. 'That's the one. Now, construct!'

Almost instantaneously, after he gave the order, various materials started appearing out of nowhere, and immediately began to construct the gun.

After a few seconds, due to its high efficiency, a new item appeared in Locke's hand.

'It's nice to still have this ability...' He thought as he wielded a gun that resembled a revolver.

Its barrel was amoled-black and a faint blue glow emanated from its cylinder where the bullets are stored.

With a weapon in hand, he finally felt confident in protecting his weakened self. 'Alright... time to help my savior...'

"Haar!" The three Voidrangers who fought with Arlan were especially fierce. It was as if they were aggravated and were lashing out their anger towards the humans on the Space Station.

'Why are they so hard to fight...?!' Arlan thought. He was able to easily fight the other Voidranger from before, but he doesn't know why some of them were particularly sturdier than the others.

Right now, he was injured. A Voidranger managed to scratch his right arm and it was bleeding a lot. Worse of all, he doesn't have time to patch it up.

Nonetheless, he has a duty as the Head of the Security Department.

"Ha...!" He infused more lightning into his sword and charged at one of them. When the sword hit, electricity ran through the Voidranger's body and it soon disintegrated into the void.

'Finally...' Arlan huffed as she exhaled from the force he had to exert. However, he only bit his lip and continued fighting. 'No... there's no time for rest. I need to beat them now!'

However, just as he was about to launch another attack on the remaining two Voidrangers, the former two suddenly swiftly moved and charged at him at once with their ethereal blades!

'Not good!' Arlan thought as he noticed them. He then quickly defended himself and raised his sword to block their attacks.

Bam!*

Their blades— which were about to reach Arlan's body— were suddenly blocked by his sword.

Arlan sweated profusely as he barely managed to defend their attack. If not for his lightning-fast reactions, he would have been a goner by now.

'I need to retreat with that researcher from befor—' While defending their blades, the other Voidranger that was being held back by Arlan's sword suddenly vanished.

In less than a second, it appeared on his sides and was about to charge at him! Seeing this, Arlan's face became grim. 'I need to use my shield...!'

The Voidranger swiftly moved and Arlan's shield was still about to activate. The former knew that the shield would not make it and he would be severely injured— worse is that he'll die!

However... it was at this moment that...

Bang!*

A small projectile that left behind a trail of blue hue suddenly appeared and instantly pierced the Voidranger's head!

Immediately, the Voidranger died, and similar to the previous Voidranger, it too disappeared into the void.

"Headshot..."

Arlan heard a voice and quickly looked at where the source of the sound was. 'Is it backup?'

However, in contrast to his expectations, instead of meeting another member of the security department, he was instead met with a familiar person.

Leaning weakly on a trash bin, a man with blood stains on his head and shirt held a gun on his hand with his two hands that were aimed at the Voidrangers.

The man then adjusted his silver glasses and pointed at the last Voidranger. "I'll assist you... Let's take care of this quickly."

Arlan knew that the man was seriously injured, so he didn't know how he was able to accurately shoot a Voidranger in the head. However, for now, he didn't question it and nodded. "Alright, cover me!"

"Alright..." Just as Arlan said, Locke focused on the last Voidranger and prepared his next shot. However, there was an underlying thought in Locke's mind. 'These creatures... how fascinating...'

'How I wish to dissect them...' He thought with curiosity as coldness appeared in his yellow pupils.
