The Child

Maria grew up in Mumbai. She and her sister Lourdes were very close to each other. Their dad was working in the gulf and they lived with their mom who was an attention seeker. Although she loved them , she was too strict. She had a weird sense of punishment. She would make her kids kneel on rock salt , lock them in the bathroom if they couldn't study, beat them with anything in her hands. These two girls took it all and still loved her as they knew nothing else. Once she left them alone at home as she had to go to the market. They were around 8 and 5 years old. She told them that she would be back soon and locked the door from outside and took off. But to the kids, it seemed like ages. They started to panic as she hadn't turned up. They began crying out loud and this attracted the neighbors, who calmed them down. Eventually when she did arrive back, the kids were so excited to see her but in return she spanked both of them for crying out loud and drawing so much of attention.
