3 Salvatore House

Sy, Ray and Lucien exited the police precinct. Three white Range Rovers with awakened bodyguards greeted them at the door.

Lucien walked to the second one and opened the door. Ray sighed and walked in. Silas, who had been in a daze since he was freed, could not close his mouth but he trusted Ray with his life and followed.

When Sy was about to enter the car, Lucien stood in front of him.

"Please enter one of the other cars, sir."

Silas did not move and instead looked at Ray.

"Get in a car. We will talk later." Ray offered with a smile.

Silas nodded and gave one look at Lucien before turning around and entering the third car.

Lucien entered the same car as Ray. As if running on the same synchronised watch, the cars started up and drove away.

Inside the second vehicle, Lucien and Ray set in silence.

After five minutes, Ray found it unbearable and turned toward Lucien.

"You are not going to say anything?"

"Master Reign, I serve the Household. I cannot speak."

"Since when?" Reign asked mockingly.

"Since you left six years ago without a word."

"I left a letter." Reign objected.

"I did not receive it."

Reign was shocked. Who could have taken the letter?

"I am sorry you never got to read it."

"Even if I did, I do not think it would have mattered. You left without a care."

"My parents died, Lucien!"

Lucien turned to Reign and burst.

"I know that! I lost them too!" Lucien shouted. "I raised your father. I looked after him, trained him, taught him right from wrong and cared for him.

I taught him to cook, prepared him for his first high school dance, I helped him buy the ring for your mother and loved her too. You are not the only one who lost them that day, Reign. Without you, I felt like an outsider at their funeral.

Six years! Six years you have been gone, six years I prayed you were alive, six years I felt that I had failed and for what? For you to live like a street urchin? For you to play pretend and suffer where I cannot protect you, live your life as Raymond? For you to runaway from who you are? For what, Reign? I need to know!"

Reign was taken aback. Since as far back as he could remember, Lucien had never used his first name without calling him "Master" first.

Reign did not know how to reply.

"Six years, Master Reign. I did not know whether you were alive or dead."

"Lucien, you are over two hundred years old." Reign protested. "Six years is nothing to you!"

"Six years is nothing when you are with those you cherish. Six years without the child you raised, looked after and considered your own son, six years feels like six hundred. You lost your parents that day but I lost them and you." Lucien turned his eyes ahead and did not say anything more.

Reign wanted to state his case but now that he was older he realised how stupid all he had to say was. He had been young back then but he grew up. He would be eighteen in two days. He could have gone home anytime but he did not.

The rest of the ride was ten hours long. The only way Lucien made it to him that quickly was probably because of the travel gate in Salvatore House. All the powerful families in Silver city had one. It was not practical for common day use.

It way expensive to build, maintain and use hence only governments and the top 0.5 percent could utilise them. Unfortunately, travel gates only worked one way unless another travel gate was in the area but to do that, one had to put in the coordinates of which gate they were going to and that was a big hell no for Salvatore House.

The ancestral home of the Salvatores was a closely guarded secret for nearly seven hundred years. It had been that way since World War III and all the nations of the world got into it.

The cars arrived at an airport and went to a hanger. Silas had been trying to get to Reign but the guards did not let him.

They got into a private jet and took off, flying under a commercial airbus till they reached the mediterranean then branched off to an area that was surrounded by storms and underwater volcanoes that could tear any ship, craft or submersible apart if they did not have a way to navigate. Past the storm a cluster of islands that would not appear in any map soon came into sight.

The jet landed on a private strip and the passengers were greeted by three more identical Range Rovers.

This time Silas could not sit still. When the jet went through those storms he had already come to the end of his rope.

He had never left the American Federation before and now he was on a bunch of islands in the middle of no-where.

"Ray! If I do not ride with you this time, I swear I am teleporting off this island!" He shouted but only because the guards would not let him get close.

Reign wanted to respond but Lucien beat him to the punch.

"You cannot teleport here, mister Jenkins." Lucien stated. "The abilities on this island are dampened for anyone who is not authorised."

"He rides in the car with us." Reign stated firmly. Since Reign and Lucien had not spoken for hours, there really was no reason why Sy could not sit in the car with them.

Lucien seemed to give it a moment of thought and waved to the guards to let Silas to come through.

Silas looked at the two guards with a smug smirk on his face and walked past them then ran to Reign's side. They got into the same car this time and drove off.

"Where are we going, Ray?" Silas asked as the cars moved through a jungle.

"Salvatore House. It was my home." Reign responded.

"Salvatore House?" Silas asked. "Ray, are you some super rich kid?"

"Yeah." Reign responded. "My real name is Reign Jason Salvatore and that is all I can tell you for now."

Silas looked at Reign. His eyes showed his confusion and he even opened his mouth a couple times but no words came out.

Silas looked at Lucien but Lucien did not seem to be paying attention. Silas lay back into the leather seats and turned his head away from both of them to look at the jungle.

Even though Reign wanted to talk to Sy, he was thankful for the way Silas reacted. Reign felt too tired and anxious to even know where to begin.

It was thirty minutes before the cars cleared the jungle. Well kept lawns, gardens and paved roads came into view. A large white sunset-style villa came into view. It was massive. Sy looked at Reign. Silas' mouth was open again.

Reign shrugged.

"Master Reign, welcome home." Lucien said, then turned to Silas. "And Mr. Jenkins, welcome to Salvatore House."
