Chapter 1Prologue: Losing Control
*index card 1: Once Benji has full control of his Obscuras he is more than capable of holding off Voldemort and his Death Eaters in a One v One*Normal POVBenjiman Cole or just Benji for short sat in the corner of his cramped apartment knees pulled to his chest staring at the cracks in the wall as if they might split open at any moment. His wand lay on the floor in front of him, untouched, gathering dust. He hadn't used the thing in years not since Hogwarts not since
that day.The building groaned and creaked occasionally mostly due to how old and shitty it was. His fists clenched trying to steady his breath but the silence seemed to only amplify the memories he could never escape.Lupin's voice echoed in his mind, calm even in chaos
"Benjiman stay low keep your focus," he remembered the feel of the cold stone under his hands as they'd braced against the top floor of the castle sniping down the approaching Death Eaters. Then there was Tonks always the optimist, even when they were losing giving him a grim smile before jumping into the fray.
And then they were gone them and the other students he was fighting alongside.Benjiman squeezed his eyes shut willing the images to stop. The blast of green light the bodies hitting the floor. Dolohov's sneer as he left their lifeless forms behind along with the faint cackling of Bellatrix Lestrange ringing out in the background. Benjiman had been too far too slow if he'd just fired his shielding spell a second earlier... if he'd been quicker with his wand... he could've saved them all.He pressed his palms into his eyes trying to blot out the tears that threatened to fall survivors didn't get to cry they didn't have the right. The guilt weighed on him constantly it was there when he woke up in a sweat clawing at his sheets convinced, he could still hear the screams. It was there when he walked the streets of London eyes always darting to the shadows waiting for Death Eaters to find him again and it was there again in the crushing silence of his apartment where magic felt like both a curse and a death sentence.Benjiman had tried to suppress it he'd thrown his wand in the cupboard, buried his old Hogwarts robes, and told himself he was done with that world. His chest suddenly ached a familiar pressure building beneath his ribs. He gasped clutching the fabric of his shirt as the room seemed to spin. Gold, gray, and black shadows rippled at the edges of his vision swirling together in a dark fog. The Obscurus It was never far always lurking always waiting to break free it wasn't just anger or fear it was the unbearable weight of guilt and the desperation to erase what he had seen, to undo what had been done. But there was no erasing it the past was set in stone and Benji was condemned to live with the aftermath of his failures. He took a deep shuddering breath Benji willed the Obscurus back below the surface of his body he could barely control it when his emotions ran wild one of these day's he may just end up losing himself to the creature beneath. He had read up on dark creatures and by that extension on Obscurus he knew there was almost no chance of every surviving if he were to ever lose control...it was his own fault that the Obscurus formed if he hadn't tried to suppress his own magic so much then he wouldn't have become like this then again it's not like it mattered not when the world was in hell right now.Britain itself was suffering under Voldemort's tyrannical rule the Death Eaters had won and the once-familiar world was now a landscape of fear and despair. Benji's thoughts were interrupted by a sudden, heavy knocking at the door. His heart lurched every muscle in his body went rigid.
They've found me.His mind immediately raced to the worst possibility Death Eaters he didn't know how they had tracked him down, but he had always feared when this day would come.Cautiously he stood his mind rapidly trying to figure out what to do before he darted to the kitchen and grabbed a pair of kitchen knives he then quickly, hid in the laundry room right behind the door where he could see between the slits.Benjiman's heart pounded in his chest as he crouched in the laundry room the sound of relentless knocking growing more frantic, he could feel the obscurus stirring restlessly within him sensing his heightened state of panic.Suddenly a loud deafening explosion rocked the building the door to his apartment was blasted open with a powerful Bombarda spell, sending debris flying into the room. The force of the explosion shook the walls and rattled Benji's bones nearly knocking him off his feet. The sound of shattering wood and metal was followed by harsh voices and footsteps pounding through the hallway."Search every inch, nick, and croom of this room the little mudblood can't be too far," came a familiar voice that he never wanted to hear again...Bellatrix Lestrange her face twisted up into a cruel sneer while her voice was filled with the same sadistic pleasure that had haunted his nightmares.Benji's breath caught in his throat the terror of hearing her voice was eclipsed only by the raw visceral fear that came with knowing he was about to face the very woman whose laughter had echoed in his ears during the final moments at Hogwarts. He crouched in the laundry room his heart pounding as the Death Eaters' boots stomped through his apartment their voices muffled but their intent clear. They were methodical, tearing through his belongings with ruthless efficiency searching for any sign of him.Desperation clawed at Benji as he clutched the kitchen knives his knuckles white with the effort. He could hear the sound of his own ragged breaths over the din of the intruders. The Obscurus inside him roiled, reacting to his fear and the sense of imminent danger. The pressure in his chest grew unbearable the dark energy stirring and pushing at the edges of his control."I know you're in here mudblood come out, come out and play," when he heard Bellatrix's cold mocking voice approaching the laundry room his resolve hardened. He couldn't let her or her followers capture him If they did he knew that it would be his end.The moment Bellatrix's shadow fell over the doorframe, Benji sprang into action. He burst out of the laundry room his movements driven by a primal instinct for survival. His eyes were wild focused only on the immediate threat as he lunged at the nearest Death Eater his knives flashing in the dim light. The Death Eaters taken by surprise barely had time to react. Benji's knives cut through the air with swift precision, taking down one of them before he was forced to dodge a jet of green light aimed at him. He dodged around and ducked under every curse and hex they sent at him while striking down at any of the Death Eater's he could get closer to.The Obscurus within him was suddenly growing increasingly uncontrollable. The guilt and rage that had been simmering just below the surface slowly began to rise up. A barely visible appearance of gold, gray, and black mist began to rise up from his body his vision was beginning to blur and his breath ragged as if though he had run a huge marathon.Bellatrix unaware of the incoming danger that was about to burst forth happily giggled "oh if it isn't the same icckle little gryffindor boy...I never imagined that we would meet again after we killed the blood traitor and her pet wolf," her voice dripped with sadistic pleasure.Benji's rage flared at the mention of both Tonks and Lupin the Obscurus within him roared in response. He could feel the dark energy bubbling to the surface, a force he was struggling to contain. The swirling mist around him grew denser, the energy crackling with an ominous power that threatened to break free."Oh, is the little mudblood scared hahahaha," Bellatrix and the remaining Death Eaters laughed at what she thought was Benji trembling in fear but in actuality it was pain. His brown eyes turned into a swirl of gold until finally he collapsed onto his knees screaming then like a dam the obscuras within surged outwardin full force its gold, gray, and black hues swirling violently around him.The Obscurus's energy was like a chaotic storm, and its effects were devastating to those close by . The Death Eaters in the apartment were caught in the full brunt of this unleashed power. They were thrown around like ragdolls their bodies flung against walls, furniture, and each other with bone-crushing force. The air is filled with the sound of shattering glass, splintering wood, and the pained cries of the Death Eaters as they are battered by the relentless onslaught. One by one the Death Eaters succumb to the fury of the Obscurus their protective spells are overwhelmed, their attempts to shield themselves futile against the raw primal energy. Their bodies soon disintegrate into a mix of ash and debris their screams swallowed by the roaring creature that had practically covered the entire room. The Obscurus's power is indiscriminate annihilating everything in its path, reducing the once-threatening enemies to nothing but dust.As the power of the Obscurus continues to build the room itself begins to warp and crumble. The walls collapse, the floor fractures, and the very foundation of the apartment seems to groan under the strain. The air is thick with dust, debris, and the once-familiar space is now a nightmarish landscape of destruction.Bellatrix Lestrange initially stunned by the eruption of power tries to regain her composure. Her eyes narrow with fury as she begins to cast protective spells desperately trying to shield herself from the overwhelming force. The Obscurus is both relentless and unforgiving though its dark energy finds its way through her defenses ripping through the magical barriers she has erected like butter.Bellatrix's last moments are filled with a mix of fear and defiance she attempts to counter the Obscurus with curses and hexes but her spells are swallowed by the darkness her voice drowned out by the deafening roar. The energy of the Obscurus converges on her, and with a final, blinding burst of power she is consumed by the very force she sought to confront. In an instant Bellatrix Lestrange is obliterated her body disintegrating into dust like her fellow death eaters. The darkness that envelops her is so intense that it seems to swallow the very light around her leaving behind only the echo of her last terrified scream. As the storm of the Obscurus finally begins to wane the apartment now left in ruins. The oppressive energy that had filled the space began to dissipate, the multi colored mist slowly receding reforming Benji's body back to normal. His body ached from the Obscurial's unleash and his eyes started seeing dark spots until he collapsed into blissful unconsciousness.-end of prologue-next chapter features Benji being found by the golden trio and leaders of the resistance then afterwards we shall do a time skip to the ministry of magic and the veil of death.
