Vampire shopping in a human world 2

I looked at Nick, who simply shrugged, his eyes carrying a hint of amusement. I started to move away, before I felt the knife sink into my side.

I laughed as the knife tickled, but I suddenly fell to the floor, groaning.

"Oh..." I groaned. I could see Nick's feet stop in a place just as people around the mall started to scream, and I heard someone start saying they should call the police.

"Sire?" He said, kneeling down close to me. I raised my head, flicked his nose and teleported out of the mall. By the time Nick joined me, a police car was pulling up into the drive way.

"Man, that was wild." I said, laughing.

Nick seemed to share it amd felt a lot less stiff and more relaxed that he always was.

"Well, I guess that's what brightness does to you," Nick looked at me intently, then turned away.

"What are you trying to say?" I was pulling out of the driveway now, my eyes focused on the road. Not like I cared about the accident, but I just love this car.

"Do you think samantha will love you with all the darkness you've brought to her life?"

I swallowed, my heart jumping at the mention of Samantha's name. "What exactly are you getting at, Nick?"

He shrugged. "You know, we vampires are creatures of the darkness. That's what feeds and amplifies the darker, vampire part of us. The human, however, craves peace, love and light. The whole idea of humanity is not having to make them love you by bringing them into the darkness. All you will accomplish by doing this is making her part of the darkness too."

He leaned back and stretched his hand, then laughed. "She is human, part and parcel of the light. You should let her bring light to us, not force her to stay in the darkness. She may or may not love you, but how will she maintain your humanity if she can't manifest the light?"

I thought about it,  my head spinning.

"Do you really think I'm blocking her light?"

He sighed. "Right now, not exactly, but with time, gradually, eventually, you will."

I stopped the car by the side of the road and leaned back, my head facing up.

"What do you think I should do, Nick? Bring her back home to the light where she belongs?"

Nick shook his head. "No, that not what I meant. What you should do, is let her manifest the light within her. Let her figure out all the darkness around her and dissipate it. Let her heart shine boldly. Let her be who she truly is."

"Will that be fine?" I was skeptical. Letting her out, to mingle with vampires, to do things, the thought scared me.

"I will always keep an eye on her for you, Sire. I won't let any harm come to her."

I looked at him, a grateful smile parting my lips. "What will I do without you, Nick?"

He shrugged and lay back, and I expected the usual answer.

"Nothing," he said.

I rolled my eyes, remembering his new found priciledge. "Yeah, right."
