However, it is not for scientific achievements per se, but rather for personal contributions to the field of scientific research, and could almost be understood as a "Lifetime Achievement Award."
The "Lifetime Achievement Award" is an affirmation of a scientist's lifelong work. Recipients of the Highest Science and Technology Award are always over seventy years old. To this day, among the sixteen Highest Science and Technology Awards that have been given out, there hasn't been a single instance of someone under seventy receiving the honor.
