chapter 4. is the want to be loved

Miraki was caressing Orion's hair when she heard the doorbell ring. She gently tiptoed her way to the door and peeped through the peep hole.

'That's not Liam' her heart beat accelerated. Her mind ran through all the possibilities of thieves or people more dangerous than thieves.

As that man backed off slightly his face seemed familiar, "Maybe he is someone from mercury" she muttered and quickly opened the door. Right in front of her laid the piercing gaze of the director.

"Good afternoon Director" she hastily greeted with a 90 degree bow while the sides of her temples began to sweat.

"Afternoon" he replied. His eyes hadn't left her and she too continued to meet his eyes, "May I enter?" He asked his right eyebrow slightly raised and She stepped back and He entered inside.

' Why am I such an idiot?' Miraki cursed herself.

On the first look inside the living room he could see the children sleeping carelessly on the couch.

He shook Orion and took Jackson in his arms "uuuh- is It time to go?" he wiped his eyes

"Yeah, we are going back home. Pack up your bags" he asked him and Orion quickly got everything ready with Miraki helping him. He made sure to pack furin's with him.

Luke observed the apartment. It was lively and all the necessary needs were fulfilled, specifically the security. The bags were packed and Luke was ready to leave when Orion abruptly asked "Aunt Mimi, aren't you going to give cookies to my uncle?" he asked leaving the part 'you always give to Liam so my uncle deserves it as well'

Miraki was speechless. How could she give such a mundane thing to her director!! She wished to pull the little boy's ears but she controlled herself.

"oh- oh of course I have to wait a minute" her eyes narrowed towards the boy.

"Director, these cookies are for you. Please enjoy them" she handed them over. Her ears were red with embarrassment. He took it, seeing no reason why his nephew fussed about it when he could give them thousands of such cookies.

They took the stairs and walked out where his car was parked

"Uncle you should hide those cookies from Jackson, he won't let you have them, '' Orion warned his uncle. Luke gazed at the little Jacky in his hands and his lips curled up.

His nephews both were gluttons.

"Then I shall have to be more careful of you Orion, you are more of a glutton than your brother" he remarked and Orion instinctively says 'but- but I am not now. "

He doubtfully looks at his nephew and Orion whines even more.

Orion had always been most comfortable with his uncle and then with Miraki. It was why his mother worried for him, his introverted personality and his high walls were almost impossible to break. Even in school he barely had friends.

" You enjoyed your time there?" Luke asked his nephew as they were all seated in his car and he drove them to his home.

"Of course I did. I always enjoy Aunt Mimi's place" he said while playing his video game. The rest of the ride was silent.

( At Miraki's residence)

Miraki was in her room on her couch, her feet curled up like a ball while she scrolled through her social media. Her school friends and university friends had posted their pictures. ' ho ho, Amyra is so unrecognisable!' She was taken by surprise by her friends' posts.

Over the years they all had taken their own path in life,some married and became housewives while some worked in the army and some became full time artists.

It was disheartening to learn that one could only reminisce about the past and move on. Those were her friends with whom she had dream her dreams.

"ring ring" her phone rang. Miraki swiped green and picked it up.

"Hey mom!" she said. She took a bite of the cupcake next to her when her mother replied "Hello. How are you?"

"Sweet as a cupcake" she said and giggled. "Oh come on, you more of a bitter gourd. Anyways, when will you return home?"

The phone went silent and only chewing could be heard. " Speak you glutton! don't just chew" she scolds.

"Well….. I don't know if I can a vacation this year. Even if I did, it won't last for more than 12 days"

"I see, be sure to come home this year. Everything in my garden has bloomed this year. We have plenty of apples, persimmons, avocado and ground apples this year. "

"Sure, I shall try" she said as she gazed far off at the city, feeling lonely.

"Oh and your granny and I will go on a short trip. So I might not be available for a few days' ' Miraki could predict her mothers glistening eyes for she loved to travel.

"Alright, enjoy your trip and be careful" and the call ended.

A small smile crept on her face. She could now afford short vacations fro her family.

( at the Luke's mansion)

"I'm home!" Esther entered the mansion. Her sons were on the couch watching some cartoons on TV. Luke had just got out of the bath, his wet hair still dripped water droplets. He wore a simple Grey tee shirt and shorts.

Luke was a man in his late twenties, age 27. He had straight brown hair which went until his ears. His eyes were like turquoise blue sea and he wore a green stone ear ring on his left ear. He was what anyone would describe as " Cold beauty"

" mom!" Jackson ran into her arms. She cuddled her little baby while Orion simply said "Hey mom!" and went back to watching.

"Get refreshed. I will ask the chef to reheat the dinner." Luke said to his sister as he walked down the stairs and sat down next to Orion and they began their 'man to kid' talks.

" Alright then" she let her son down and walked upstairs. She giggled as her sons hover over her brother. Luke was never a social person. He loves his own company. Despite his cold aura and scary temperament he had a soft spot for children and he always secretly took care of everyone around him.

By the time Esther had her dinner, her sons were tucked in their beds.

"What are you having Luke?" Esther surprised him from his back when she saw a cute little bundle of cookies on his hands with a small note which read 'work hard'.

"No way you are having it alone" she smirked and snatched it from Luke. As she took a bite she swore she could go to heaven. It was banana flavoured which she absolutely loved.

"Sister in law is already trying to take over our hearts I see" she smirked and took another cookie.

Luke was surprised, but he said in a poker face " it's made by your friend dummy".

Esther was more astonished. Since when did her friend become so daring to give her director.

Luke's phone starts to ring. He swiped to red and blocked the number. He made sure to not get calls from the person who had just called,unless they changed their identity.

"Who called you Luke?" Esther asked while her eyes were glued to the TV. She was watching a cute drama.

"Your husband's sister." he replied and switched his phone off.

"Tsk, she never learns . Luke, I think its better if you at least get engaged with someone. It will save you from such troubles' ' she said in concern.

"Um, I should," he said. He did have someone I mind but he wasn't sure if she would agree.
