Far But Close

Madeline's POV

"I wish you could come with us" My friend Adrina whined as we walked through the school corridors

Me and Adrina grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, we met at our playschool and since then we have been stuck together, she has nice brown curly shoulder length hair with green eyes which are always hidden behind her glasses with average height of 5'3

"I wish that too but you know my parents won't allow me to go alone with you even if your older brother is there as a guardian" I said, with a dejected tone

"Should I talk to them?"She asks while removing her remaining books from her locker

"No it's fine" I said

Our summer is starting from tomorrow, so Adrina is going with her brother to spend her summers in Italy, her parents are out on a business trip so they can't join and its only her and her older brother who's in college

I have to spend my summers in the town because my parents are busy with their work and they can't let me go alone to another country, having parents who both are famous doctors comes with a disadvantage, they still promised me we will take a vacation for spring break during my senior year so thats fine

Adrina was still removing her books from the locker when someone jumped on me from behind

"Oh my God I would've broken my back" I pushed her away from my back and turned to glare at her

"Stop being dramatic" Sanya said while putting her hands around my shoulder

Sanya was a tranfer from India in 4th grade, when she entered the class our teacher told her to sit besides me since Adrina was out of town that day, and when she came back me and Sanya had already become good friends and later I introduced them to each other, and now we are a trio

Sanya has a nice dusky skin which compliments her black shiny wavy hair and brown eyes she's the tallest among the three of us at 5'5 while I'm 5'4

"I'm so excited to go back I can't wait" Sanya said while jumping excitedly, everyone in the hallway started giving her weird looks

"Stop jumping everyone is looking" Adrina said while pulling her towards the exit, I followed them both while shaking my head

Sanya is going to India to spend her summers and she's been gushing about it since months now, how she will get to enjoy the rain and celebrate the holy festival and eating Indian cuisine and spending time with her cousins

We three get into my car and drove towards my house, we will be seeing each other only after summer gets over so we thought of spending some quality time

We blasted music on full volume and started vibing on it, we reached my home in 15 minutes. I parked my car in the garage and went towards the main door where Sanya and Adrina were waiting for me to open the door

I removed the keys from my bag and opened the lock and we three entered my house and went straight to my room on the first floor

My house is a basic two story house, painted grey with a swimming pool and a lawn in the front, it's not exactly basic it looks cool from outside

"Okay so let's make a list of what we will do during summer and then pass it to each other so that we can add few for all of us to do"

All three of us sprawled on my bed since ita big enough and started making plans for summer

I added a few things which I wanted to do since a long time like pottery, gardening and few habits I wanted to develop like eating less junk, being consistent at the gym and other normal teenage stuff

Soon enough we all finished making our lists and passed to each other I took Sanya's first, all she had in her list was what type of food she's going to eat, where is she going to shop and what type of jewellery she's going to wear everyday. I added two things in her list like eating at least two healthy products each day and exploring more about herself

Adrina's list had how she's going to make a Pinterest board for Italy, capturing aesthetic pictures and buying cute things for her boyfriend, and so on. I added painting a view from her window and taking Polaroid pictures on her list

I got my list back with few things added like dress cute and go to a cafe, learn to do makeup buy new clothes for next year of school and so on

We later decided to go in the pool and have fun and then watch some movies

"Guys which swim suit you both want?" I asked since we didn't originally didn't plan to take a swim they didn't bring their swimsuits

"I'll take the peach one" Sanya said while putting her hair in a bun

"I'll take the black" Adrina said while she was removing her makeup

I went to my small wardrobe and took out bikinis for all three of us, I chose the turquoise one which I got on Christmas and we moved towards the pool

We played in the pool for a few hours and then decided to go and rest on the lounge chair

"Sanya get some snacks from the kitchen please" Adrina requested while lying on the lounge chair

"Fine" Sanya heaved a breath and went to the kitchen to get some snacks. A few minutes later she came with glass of juices and some chips and gummy worms

"Thank you so much" We both said as she kept the plate on the the table in front of us

We started gossiping about school while munching on our snacks.

Soon they left since they had their flight tomorrow for their destination. While I just sat in my room watching web series

After about an hour or so I heard voices from downstairs indicating my parents were home. I shut my laptop down and went down to greet them

"Hey mom and dad" I wished them as I reached the last stair of the staircase

"Hi sweetheart" My mom said as she smiled tiredly at me

My dad just kept mum indicating he was not in a mood to speak. I went to the kitchen and got them both glass of water and gave them and sat besides my dad

"Thank you mads" Dad said while softly patting my head

"How was your last day? Did you have fun" Mom asked me when she kept her glass down

"It was good, adrina and sanya came over, they just went an hour back" I said while keeping my head on my dad's shoulder

"We are sorry Mads you can't enjoy summer because of us" Mom said

"It's fine mom besides we are going on spring vacation so it's all good" I reassured them, I didn't want them to feel bad because of something they can't control

"Come on let's eat dinner we brought Chinese" Dad said, we don't really have outdoor food it's once in a blue moon occurrence

We went towards the dining hall to have our dinner while we talked about what we did the whole day. Soon we wished each other good night and went towards our respective rooms

I changed into comfortable clothes and got into bed to resume the series I was watching earlier. After few hours when the series finished I went to bed
