Come Home With Me

Xu Jingchen did not continue to speak right away. He was aware that Lin Meixing was scared of him taking his son away from her, and while he had no interest in fighting her for custody, he still wanted to have a relationship with his son.

He was not going to take his son home with him, as he too was aware that his mother was a ticking time bomb after seeing her behavior earlier, but he was not willing to not have anything to do with his child, and the mother of his child, just because of that.

"He is my son," Lin Meixing finally squeezed out the words through her clenched teeth. Although she was aware that Lin Jingli was the son of both of them, she would not acknowledge him. He had never cared about them before, but now he suddenly had such interest in her son. She was disappointed and sad.

Xu Jingchen was feeling guilty. The more he looked at Lin Meixing, the more he just wanted to wrap her up in his embrace and explain his reasons, but he knew that no matter what he did, it could not erase her experience of being abandoned.

Knowing that this woman was once his lover, and being aware that she had given birth to a son for him, Xu Jingchen had every intention of marrying her. He had never been interested in women before, but this time he truly was attracted to her.

He was not willing to let her go, but he was not willing to force her either. The best would be to convince her that their son needed a complete family, and from then on try to slowly warm her frozen heart, and open the locks she had put on her emotions.

Usually, Xu Jingchen would live in the Xu Manor alongside the other Xu family members, but he suddenly changed his mind. He wanted to bring Lin Meixing and Lin Jingli back to his own residence and settle them in.

Since his son was studying here, their home could not be too secure either.

It was not that Xu Jingchen was looking down on the area where Lin Meixing lived, but he was aware of his mother's personality. If she had targeted Lin Meixing, it was natural that she would never let her go.

If the two, mother and son, lived in a typical residential area, they would be easy targets for her.

Xu Jingchen did not think that his mother would go to extremes, such as killing Lin Meixing and Lin Jingli, but she would likely have them beaten up or threatened often. She might even do something even worse to Lin Meixing, and Xu Jingchen would never allow anyone to put them in harm's way.

"Although he is your son, half of his genes come from me," Xu Jingchen said gently as he looked at Lin Meixing with eyes that overflowed with tenderness.

"I understand that you do not want him to return to the Xu family, and I can agree to that for now; however, come to live in my personal residence. I fear for your safety in your own flat."

Lin Meixing's face turned pale. She was unwilling to live alongside Xu Jingchen, but she was also aware that his mother was unreasonable. She was not one to fear the law, as she thought that her status could give her extra privileges, and Lin Meixing was slightly worried after meeting her earlier.

Seeing that she actually considered it, a slight hope began rising in Xu Jingchen's heart. He had thought that she would instantly decline, but he had underestimated how Lin Meixing feared his mother. The cruelty of Madam Xu was not something that Lin Meixing would forget anytime soon.

Seeing her troubled expression, Xu Jingchen did feel like he was abducting a young and innocent woman, but he convinced himself that he was not abducting her but protecting her.

The two were looking at one another in silence. There were conflicting emotions in Lin Meixing's eyes, but eventually, she heaved a heavy sigh, and nodded her head.

"Your mother is ruthless," she said with a wry smile on her face. "But, you are not much better."

Xu Jingchen felt his heart stop, and pain spread through his entire body as he heard her sad and mocking words.

She was not wrong, though; he was as ruthless as his mother. When he found out that Lin Meixing was back, he could not let her go, even though he knew that his appearance had caused her immense pain.

Xu Jingchen had to admit that he was selfish. He knew that he was not acting with her best interest in mind, but he could not control himself.

He was not willing to let her go. Although he had lost his memory from the time they were together, his entire being was screaming to him that this woman belonged to him, that she could only be his, and that she was the only person he would love, pamper, and spoil in this world. If he missed her, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

Knowing full well that she was trying to get over him, he was using his mother as a tool to make her move into his home. While he was indeed worried about his mother's acts against them, he could not confidently say that he had no ulterior motives.

"Let us take our son home." Xu Jingchen did not comment on her words. He knew that if he said anything, it would just make him seem hypocritical, so instead, he changed the topic.

Lin Meixing glanced at Xu Jingchen with some sadness in her eyes, but she quickly retracted her gaze. Even if they were going to live at the same house, she would not budge on her principles. Lin Jingli was her son, and she was not going to give away the custody.

Sorry for the delay in releases. I was at the hospital and have a few health issues that were quite pressing. I will try to continue to write steadily, but being sick makes everything much harder.
