Sebastian's smile stretched from eye to eye, his adrenaline pumping as if it were the first time he's felt the rush of battle. He took a sharp, deep breath, relaxing his nerves just a bit before locking on to his target.
"I hope you're ready," he muttered just before he stepped off, his speed having a tremendous increase in comparison to his earlier performance.
Taken back by his sudden boost in speed and presence, Corniellia blinked away from his line of sight, once more positioning herself just over his body with her left leg extended. In a swift movement, she swung her body in a way that would bring the maximum amount of force with her leg, which would be almost a guarantee to stun him upon a direct hit. At least that's how she thought it was going to play out.
At first, it was going according to plan. She was in position and was coming down with enough speed and force that would give him virtually no time to react, but somehow, he was able to grab a hold of her leg, the sinister smile still present on his face as he spun her using the momentum she came down with. After completing a single rotation, he released her, sending her flying toward the arena walls, but then, once again, she was gone.
Rather than flying toward the wall, she now slid on the floor in the opposite direction, but then her sliding, quickly became that of a tumble the farther she travelled before coming to a halt a few meters away from the opposite wall.
"Something's not right," Moe muttered, watching the fight closely. She leaned over in her seat, as anxiety spread across her body resulting in her legs' rapid and constant bounce that Ai would soon calm by resting his hand on her thigh.
"What's the problem?" he asked.
"Even if he became a vampire, that monstrous strength... Isn't natural. To be able to throw her with such force that not even her blink could slow her down that much? No matter how you look at it, I can't wrap my head around it."
"It could be his ability kicking in. I mean, that's exactly what we were waiting for wasn't it?"
"That's the thing... I don't sense any usage of chaos in his current movements... Whatever he's doing now, it has nothing to do with whether or not he has access to chaos..."
"That... is quite the predicament."
Corniellia panted profusely once her tumbling came to a stop, taking the time to look up at Sebastian through the wet strands of hair that stuck to her forehead, who stood in victory, looking right back at her.
"You gonna wave the white flag or you want me to do it for you?" he chuckled, slowly walking over to where Corniellia laid.
"Why am I always the one forced into combat scenarios with a useless skill like this," Corniellia groaned to herself, pushing herself off the ground to stand firmly on her feet once more.
"I don't know what's gotten into you Sebby, but I refuse to go down that easily," she said confidently, stepping off toward him once more before vanishing in thin air.
In the split second she was gone for, Sebastian glanced around his environment, waiting for though less than a second has passed, it felt as if an eternity have already gone by. He glanced over to his left just before Corniellia's body appeared in that direction, his leg already swinging toward her, forcing her to blink away again.
She attempted to use the same strategy over and over again, trying to find an opening she could use and abuse without being caught, but each and every time, somehow, he was always a step ahead of her.
Blinking far away from where Sebastian stood, she bit down on her lower lip with so much force and frustration that it brought blood with it. She curled her hands into a fist and prepared herself to go in once more, but this time, she was going to give it her all rather than treating him like she previously did.
"Is it time to end this?" Sebastian asked as he got bored of enduring the same types of attacks over and over again.
Corniellia groaned once more just before bursting out into laughter.
Her sudden showcase of joy has left the arena confused, all the spectators who were watching the fight now sat forward in their seats, each with a different expression on their face with some being lost, others excited, while the rest remained neutral.
"What rank you think he'd be if he were to actually graduate?" asked a crowd member, excitement in her voice as she peered over to the stage.
"Wasn't he tested to be a low B rank?" responded a companion of theirs.
"Look again! Does that look like a low B rank to you? That has to be A tier... at least."
"I can't tell if the lot of you are blind or just idiots," Lucas groaned upon hearing the girls' conversation, "That thing that he's fighting is nothing more than B rank, and he's a B rank recruit. It would be a disgrace if he couldn't kill a small fry like that."
"But he can't kill her though can he? Isn't she being monitored by most of the higher-ups?"
"Doubt anyone would care if he did or didn't... I just hope that dumbass can use his brain now rather than later. If he kills her now, he might just graduate you know," Lucas chuckled, "Never thought I'd live to see this day come."
"No one's killing anyone Lucas," muttered a weary deep voice that originated behind where Lucas stood.
"Sir Cedric!" he exclaimed, bowing almost immediately upon recognizing the voice.
Cedric left the shadows, his mixture of grey and black hair that moved smoothly toward the back of his head being the first portion of him that met the light. The wrinkles on his face stood out just as much as the scar just under his left eye did as they twinkled their bright green colour the moment it came in contact with the light. His slender figure towered over Lucas, placing him at just about 6 feet and 4 inches tall. He wore a black coat with golden highlights at the edges, the crest on his right upper chest boasting the same shape as Lucas'.
"For some reason the council sees it fit for the girl to stay so we can investigate her and her plea some more. As much as I wouldn't mind for both of them to drop dead at just about any time, the council simply won't allow it. They're too precious... Too unique for them to pass up the opportunity," he groaned, staring over at the fighting grounds of the arena, "Though I understand their thought process... A vampire that wants to be human... And a vampire-human hybrid, those things are simply too rare to pass up on."
Lucas groaned once more in disappointment as he stood by Cedric's side.
"Don't be let down my boy. Just because we can't kill them just yet... That doesn't mean we can't settle for making their lives here a living hell," Cedric smiled.
"My hunter tasks and missions won't allow me to be here as often as I'd like though," Lucas sighed.
"Don't worry about that my boy... This fight may just be the deciding factor of whether they gain the opportunity to graduate or not. and it seems they've kept the counsellors entertained long enough," Cedric said glancing up at the special seated area in the arena that hosted seven people in total, "Those fools don't know of the hell they're about to unleash upon this land."
"You know what, this was fun while it lasted Seb," Corniellia said with a smile as she prepared herself for take off once more, "But, this has dragged on for too long."
"Glad we could agree on something for once," Sebastian smirked.
With a swift movement, Corniellia took off, blinking away from where she stood, and instantaneously reappeared at Sebastian's side, however, it wasn't the only version of her that appeared. In total, eight different Corniellias surrounded Sebastian's location, each rushing toward him at the exact same time, ready to attack.
Sebastian simply smiled, his hands extended as they all rushed toward him, a form of energy rushing through his body. This wasn't energy from excitement or the adrenalin rush of battle. It was something else and he knew that much.
Moe immediately gripped on Ai's arm who in turn looked at her confused.
"What's the matter?" he asked, her concern now brought to his attention.
"This is it... He's tampering with Chaos... I can feel it."
"Can you tell what it is at least?" Ai asked, looking between Moe and the battle.
"It's... changing... I don't know how, but the nature of his chaos is... changing."
