Our protagonist is the decendant of a great line of individuals that is now on the cusp of extinction. Watch, as he embarks on a journey of repeated failure and disappointment, as he gets made fun of and ostracized for his disabilities. Will he become strong? Will he die a laughable death? Who knows! Depends on what I'm feeling that particular day.

The day the acolipse started could only be described as one thing.
"AHHH?!"
"Woah!"
"Quick, quick! Get a picture!"

"Look, Grammy, LOOK! The sky is a RAINBOW!"
The most beautiful day in existence.
Little did the people know, those that felt the world tremor in excitment, the winds blowing in all directions as if to trumpeter the momebt to all corners of the globe, and became mesmerized by the beauty of the sky, like an endless everchanging flow of rivers containing all the most beautiful and amazing colors of the world, that soon,
everything would end.
"Cough, cough, splat"
"Thud,"
"Cough."
"cough, kaheg"
"Thud, Thud,"

Although nobody at the time had any idea what had happened, other than it seemed to scientific instruments all over the world that physics seemed to have simply stopped working for a brief period of time, before resuming as if nothing happened, the events' effect became obvious within 3 days.

'Nine-one-one, what's your emergency?'
"Uh- umm, it, it's my mother. She just came home from her afternoon walk and said she was feeling sick, but when she sat down, she s-started coughing up blood and-and-and."
'Calm down ma'am. Can you tell me your address?'
"Ye- yes, it's 84436, Elmwood drive, Michigan."
'Zip-code?'
"6- um 65824"
'Got it. I've sent an ambulance to your home ma'am, they'll be there any minute. Tell me, is your mother conscious?'
"n- No, she passed out before I called."
'Okay, do you have any experince with cpr?'
"No."
'Okay, then I want you to listen very carefully to what I'm about to say, and follow along with my instructions. Do you understand maam?'
"Yes."
'Tell me, do you think you could move your mother out onto the floor with her back down?'
"Yes."
'Then please move her out of the chair and out flat on her back.'
Scoot, ssss- plo.
"Okay, I did it."
'Good. First, check if she's breathing by putting your ear up to her mouth or nose.'
"She's breathing."
'Good. That's very good. Now, check her heart beat either by placing your index fingers on her wrist or on the left side of her neck.'
"Okay. Her heart beat is really fast and sparatic."
'Okay, just a reminder that the paramedics are on their way, and everything is going to be okay, ma'am. Are you listening to me?'
"Yes."
'Okay, now what you're going to do is-

"SLAM, DAMIT! What the HELL is going on?! HALF our members of Congress and the president HIMSELF are all DEAD, and we have no idea WHY!"
"Sir, please calm down."
"How can I be calm, Sierra? At this rate, the entire government will collapse. We don't even have the vice-president to turn to, or the speaker of the house! They're already DEAD!"
"I know, sir. But in times like these, we must remain calm and not insight panic."
Haaaa, I know, I know. It's just... our country was already in such a state of disarray before this happened. If it continues, I fear..."
Bam!
"SIR! There's a mob outside protesting the governments lack of response to the recent unexplained event 3 days ago. They're saying it's a sign from God that he will punish 'those who have abused their powers for evil.' and are chanting 'down with the government, away with death!' They have amassed a following of at least 10,000. What should we do?"
"ssSHIT!!"

Within that first week, there was nothing but chaos everywhere. People rioting, people stealing, people dying.
After the 22nd day, it seemed the world as people knew it was doomed to collapse.
After the 38th day, people no longer rioted, but prayed to God that he would spare them, cursed God for damning them to a slow and painful death, or flailed their minds around like a fish trying to find a way to the water.
But no matter what they did, it was all pointless.
By the 5th day, every person above the age of 71 was dead.
By the 11th day, it was 57.
By the 23rd, 48.
The 41st marked the day there were more corpses than people left from the time it had all started. The age at which people died was 42.
A lot happened after that, but to make a very long story short within 2 and a half months time, less than a third of earth's population, only those who were age 20 and below, were left alive.
At that time, when people thought it might be over, that the death and the sorrow was finally at its end,
they came.
... the monsters.

Pant.. pant.. pant.. pant
Trip, (aghhhh)
The boy in a white button-up long sleeve shirt tucked into a black pair of slant pants running like his life depended on it, triped over a crack on the pavement, and fell into some dirt. While falling, he scraped his arms and wanted to cry out from the pain but held himself back as much as possible, resulting in a silent scream.
He had to take a second to clean his now dirty glasses, which he tried to do as quietly and quickly as possible, taking a second to look around while cleaning them.
Within a few moments, he was up and off, running at break neck speeds for as long as he could with no clear direction, when out from an alleyway emerged a thick, viscious, and yet solid mass.
Faster than one could comprehend, it snatched up the man without so much as a sound. In fact, once the man was gone, there was no sound, only the rustling of the wind as it blew through the now desolate town, picking up the occasional scrap of paper or fallen leaf.
The remnants of society.
...
But, from the remnants,
thoom
From the darkest of the pits which we fall into,
THOOOM
Makes even the faintest of lights,
THWA-BAM
Shine brighter than the sun.
BAMBAMBAMABAMABAM
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
BOO--BAAM!!!
...
Huff, Huff, Huff, Huff, Hufffff
collapse.
That day, the first hero was born. The first one to ever defeat a monster and live to tell the tale was named Sutenka Yamamoto. A Japanese high-school student who learned how to wield the power to end the world itself,
Mana.
Before then, humanity had Fallen down to its lowest point, where barely anyone had the ability to breathe, and from then on picked itself up, peice by peice, person by person.
Some developed traps, others crafted weapons, and others trained techniques. People, for the first time since modern history, realized the true importance of knowledge, how it helped one to run a true society, and so dedicated themselves to the continuation of it in every way, shape, and form.
Because people now had a purpose, common enemy, and worked along side eachother with a common goal, it was only natural for people to become much more interpersonally invested than before. Not only that, but because pissing off the wrong person could mean a massacre through simply leading a common group of monsters to their camp, people really didnt feel like pissing eachother off. When people did, they didn't last long.
This lead to an increase in the virtues of people on the basis of, 'we don't stupid, we don't die.' With a version of this saying appearing all over the world around this time.
Not to say there wasn't any drama, of course. This is teenagers we are talking about after all, but it was important to note this shift in how people thought and how they valued being kind and generous to each other. This was through things like gifts, but also through the everyday usage of their skills to support each other. People who couldn't do this were viewed as selfish trash, less than human, because pulling others down meant virtually murdering them.
And after all that, three years had passed after the day the monsters came. Now, at this point, humanity was truly at its best in raw mana power that it ever was before or since.
Humanity was well fed by mana rich monster meat. They were more moral than in any age prior. They were both physically and mentally capable of things which few would think either possible, or even necessary in such an enviroment.
To top it all off, they had all personally experienced that day, the first mana wave, which had the highest mana penatration of any mana wave that came after it.
They lived in a time of the greatest mana concentration, had the greatest experience with monsters, and possessed the greatest collective ambitions of any generation. By all accounts, it was an age of greatness.
Yes, the age of hope and redemption after that awful, hopeless, horrible season of death and destruction. But it isn't until the aperance of Sosna Nowak, three years after the fall, that this meger light became a raging blaze.
He cleared all the plains of Poland, once thought to be nothing but a death trap of ogres, goblins, and great wolves; by himself. He amassed a small following while clearing these places of monsters, but it was in Germany that he founded his soon to be empire.
He traveled through the Mediterranean, slaughtering every monster the eye could see, and went through the Middle East into Asia. then from Asia to North America. From North America to South America, and finally from South America into Africa and back into Europe. Within three years after his aperance, and six years after the fall, there was not one human being still breathing that had not heard his name.
Three years. During that time, Sosna did not mindlessly battle the monsters but worked to concentrate and solidify humanity into one single place, from which they could accumulate power and take back the rest of the world. The place they chose was Africa, for it's lack of 'industrialized monsters' as they were called. Monsters stronger than average, who tended to group more around industrialized areas. Because of this, all developed regions of the earth became dead zones where no living creature could exist.
It began the day they landed; humanity waged war on the monsters.
Within a month, nearly the entire African continent, aside from the Sahara, had been won back. A testamant to how well planned it was, and how strong humanity had beome. They then expanded their focus to places close to shore, like Madagascar and the Indian Ocean.
After that, they expanded into the underdeveloped regions of the northern world, such as the Middle East, up into the krgydstanian area, then Serbia and Mongolian plains.
After that, they doubled back and focused on taking back the Mediterranean and Europe as a whole.
Once complete, they took a route overseas to northern Canada and worked their way down all the way to the bottom of Chile. From which they sailed to Australia, the rest of Oceania, and then finally the Asian continent along with the last bits of india and the Middle East.
In total, the process took 2 and a half years. A short war all things considered, but having Sosna was like having a nuclear bomb. Everywhere he went, he left nothing but annihilation. With that kind of firepower, it's actually more surprising that it didn't take a shorter amount of time, but not a single one of them wanted to leave a stone unturned.
What they failed to realize, however, is that this was just the start.
As the final monster's head was cut off, a quake began all over the world, and from the sky, a great scar tore open the sky over the place where the last monster was slain.
It was like nothing they had ever seen.
Originally, people had no clue how monsters came to be. They kind of just appeared. But this time, it was far different.
It was a color indescribable and spread out in every direction.
Sosna, the one directly under it, was the first to see what it's aperance entailed.
An endless army.
A vast planet, no, not a planet. A hord of monsters could be seen drifting towards the earth.
So, Sosna did the only thing he could, the only thing he'd ever known. He took up his sword, longer than three baseball bats and wider than a door frame, whose metal was spun in many directions, decorated by mana reminiscent of the nebulas of space, looked to the tear in the sky, and jumped.
Phuwooh
Without being able to tell what happened next, the people looked up and saw that the tear had disappeared, or rather dispersed, and was in the process of reforming itself in a different location near to the place it had appeared.
Sosna, in this moment, realized he could not stop them. But he could withhold their advance.
So, he did what only he could do.

Sosna challenged the movement of a celestial body, inch by inch.

Until, 184 days later, he prevailed triumphant, having reached his destination.
Phuwooh
The Sahara desert.
There he cast a spell on the 'planet,' that only once a month may its troops advance, in hopes that the future generations, as well as his comrades, may grow to one day overcome such an impossible force.
All the while, his comrades could only stare on dumbfoundedly for all 4,416 hours, unable to do anything about the frustration and despair they felt at not being able to aid their leader.
And of course, Sosna himself may have been powerful, but he was no God. After so long of feeding on nothing but his own willpower, as soon as the last of his mana was dried up, he died right there and then, as he was already a husk.
His age, 12.
That's right, 12.
Raised in a place of absolute despair, where he could barely form sentences, he became a hero by the age of 6.
From then on, he lead the people, and under the advise of others organized an army.
He alone was the sole existence capable of this, and he alone was the resounded leader of humanity. A person born to be king.
Now gone. All of humanity lamented.
But the world did not falter with the loss of its champion. Instead, it rose and created a nation of all peoples and all places.
The nation of Sonka.
At first, it was difficult to adjust. People had spent so long without needing to worry about the danger of monsters that they felt it was strange being so weak and helpless against this new threat.
Some even believed that it was all a hoax created by the ones who eradicated the monsters to get the world under their thumb. But when seeing the sight of the Sahara in person, there was no doubt. It was the truth.
And so, all of humanity conspired to eradicate the monsters, and some time passed, and then some more, and some more passed. Until the time which had passed became quite some time indeed. 70 years, to be exact, and this is where our story, truly,
begins.
