Exploring During Wartime: The Unknown

During the Orc-Alliance war, two continental adventurers and best friends head out on their own adventure during war time, trying to find ancient secrets, get pulled into fights and wars they did not want to be in. Joseph and Arimia understand that the only thing is holding them back is themselves and now they board the blimp called the 'Steadfast Dusk' and head for the mainland continent of Azreath from the Isle Kingdoms to look through the ruins that remain. Joseph and Arimia are now joined by an old friend and a new friend and now they strive to collect all the powerful artifacts in Elderen before the orcs can. This book is based in the same universe as The Tale of Our war and is now the main book that carries the story.

In The New City

The walls glowed fabulously as we saw the magical purple dome through the blizzard and alongside the dome was the tower of the Mage's college and the skyscrapers, for what we assumed of the city that was perched on an island from a picture we saw, we never assumed that we'd see an incredible city.

The drive came to the city, and then we got halted by the mage guard who then stated

"Papers."

It was then we fumbled in our dash and then hand them over.

He checked them while asking "Any particular business?"

"I'm hoping to study the legend of Aeryhn Iceborn and maybe hone my magic," I stated while unwrapping my coat from myself in the front passenger seat.

The guard then says "Very rare for a snow elf to come on by."

Ari nods and gives a small laugh "I'm just here for some spellbooks and such."

The guard nods and then motions to the two heavily armoured mages who lifted the grand door force field, and then we entered the city in our truck. The city was fabulous; it was much like a city from the Casarian Union, and it sat on a large island off the coast of Elderia.

We drove through the streets and over the lightly sheening road from the water from melted snow that dripped through the environmental shield above, glowing a warm purple as it shot into the night sky. People walked the street, cafés and bars were open and cars buzzed by as we were in this fabulous metropolis built by mages, witches, druids and magicians alike.

We parked our truck carefully up next to a hotel and then got out, grabbing our things and putting any guns in the truck's cab, covering them with canvas as a cautionary measure, so we don't frighten any of the mages or civilians in this city as it got secured by the mage guard.

We entered the front of the hotel and gave a polite smile. Harry walked up first to the counter and then asked "May we have rooms for two weeks?"

"Two weeks? Anything you wish to add? Meals, service?" The suited human lad asked, sitting behind his desk.

"Breakfast and nothing else with standard rooms with two beds please," Harry said with a smile.

"Yes, sir. That will be 423 Gold of any currency sir."

"Gold of any currency?"

"Yes, our hotel doesn't exactly use local currency and since you have two magical beings amongst you meaning they're free, we will take the rate for two non-magical beings," The lad explains.

"Right, well here we are," Harry says and nods, handing a cheque over, and we got our keys in return as we got our kit and moved upstairs to our respected rooms as we settled in for the night after the heavy blizzard drive.

Ari and I were positioned next door to Harry, and Irene as we checked the rooms which were awfully cosy and spotless, all nicely decorated and lined up and one uncommon luxury... A magically powered radio and TV hybrid.

Of course, hearing on the radio that Isle Kingdom TV has been deactivated a few days ago, and we have only a guidebook on Elderian so, watching Elderian TV won't be entertaining, so we switched on the radio that was below the TV to some radio drama and packing our stuff away.

We laid down on the beds before it wasn't too long Ari asked me "You know the way the lad at the counter said that he'd take two people out of the tab of four... that was me, but apparently someone in our crew is magical. Who was he talking about?"

"Me..." I muttered.

"You?"

I nod and explain, "The night before we headed to the city, I had a dream of seeing Aeryhn, she talked to me in a dream and said that essentially we have to be close to each other for your magic to be amazingly powerful. Without it, you're quite powerless."

"Huh? Really? I mean, if it's true, well we have no problems!" She said with a laugh.

"Yeah, so we have to stick by each other until we gauge how the magical blood works... if Aeryhn's theory is correct," I mention while leaning back.

"Going to talk to me about that nightmare you had after we set up camp a few days ago?"

"No, I don't want to talk about it Ari, it haunts me enough from you mentioning it..." I said firmly and prickly before getting into bed.

"Wow, alright, seems like it really was a bad one. I won't ask until you are comfortable talking about it but no need to be so hostile." She replied, slightly offended as she then used a touch of magic to switch the radio off with the lights as we settled in for the night.

"Night Ari, sorry about that..."

"Night Joe and it ain't a problem."
