In an effort to salvage the last remnants of the species, a United Nations effort to advance and finalize the science of Whole Brain Emulation (WBE) is initiated. The technology scans the physical structure of the brain and copies it to digital form. Just over a year after the attack, the virus has killed off 90% of the entire world population. Deadlock, is an AU based on the universe of Chainsaw Man where none of the original characters existed. In Deadlock we follow the two main characters, Koryu Hyoga and Ryuki Suoh and at first have their lives fully separated, one is an 18-year-old high school student while the other is a 36-year-old lawyer.
