*Unique Reward Generated: Monster Pieces.

Monster Pieces: Pieces represent pieces of a chessboard, you the king will have access to all mutagens you have collected from your kills. Other pieces will be granted mutagens depending on the piece, for example, a queen will be an all-around monster like Disufiroa while rooks will gain physically boosting mutagens like Nergi.

The pieces are absorbed into the bodies of the chosen, making their lives bound to yours.

"I see"

I mutter as a solid oak box appears in my hand, opening the box with a satisfying creak, I took the King's piece and rammed it into my chest.

The pain was unbearable but due to the damage I had taken in my previous world, I did not scream, pain was a constant for me back then, fighting monsters that could crush you like the bug you are changes you. Pain, I feel it, I can feel my nerves screaming at me however that is all, I feel it but it doesn't control me, it's scary.

*Sigh*

A large sigh escapes my lips as I glance around my bedroom, the exact same way I left it 10 years ago, my stuffed monkey still hanging on the headboard of my bed, Jimmy. My only real friend growing up, was a stuffed monkey, depressing right?

I mean it was, a typical Loner type, I had made some acquaintances as I went to school, Issei seemed like a nice kid, I remember a brown-haired girl too, she transferred out of school just before I left I think.

You must be thinking, he has just returned home, why isn't he speaking about his family? My family life was a mixed bag, my mother and I fought all of the time, she was the main reason I accepted the 'Proxies' mission to another world. She worked as some sort of shrine maiden for some Japanese God or something, trained me as her heir until I told her no, from that moment on our relationship ended.

We barely spoke to one another, my father gave up on the two of us, like me, focusing on the welfare of my brother, a scrawny kid, black hair, deep green eyes. Perfect Micheal, the new heir of my mother, I made sure he survived the torture that was her training, I tried so hard to drive him away from that path.

He never budged and the night I left we had a massive fight, I beat the shit out of him if I remember correctly, showing him the world he was eagerly trying to enter, the supernatural world is ruled by might alone as was the world of monsters, I conquered that world and this one will fall to me too.

I made my way downstairs, as I entered the living room, I noticed a smell that I hadn't smelt before, it was an unholy stench, it flowed from the basement of our house, I took a second to check my inventory. I still had my equipment, the downside is I only had two spare inventory spots before I left the world of monsters, meaning I subconsciously filled them with two important items from that world.

Damascus, an Anjanath egg, I had managed to steal from a nest, I have been keeping the egg in optimal conditions before I left, it was close to hatching, if I'm lucky, the beast will imprint on me and I will gain a pet Trex-dragon hybrid. I will use the Anjanath Mutagen when it is close to hatching so it recognises my features as its parents.

The second item was Raj, I had no idea how well his transformation into this world would go but if I needed to fight, I would rather do it with him by my side. Selecting his icon, made it flash before I confirmed that I wanted to summon my cat companion, his small black form appeared at my side, he looked around in confusion before I placed his weapons and armour down, telling him to equip them.

I decided for the potential clash in my basement, dual blades would be best, dragging them and a standard bone armour set out of my inventory, I auto equipped them before slowly approaching the door to the basement. Opening the door, I gently took a tranq bomb off of my armour's belt and threw it at the bottom of the stairs.

*Thud*

Hearing something or someone fall over, I made my way down, my Palico by my side, my blades ready to plunge into whatever awaited me. My mind ran at speeds that I used when fighting elder dragons, my senses went into overdrive, my eyes diluting, my nose slightly expanding.

*Snore*

What awaited me at the bottom of the stairs made me freeze in confusion.

"What the fuck is this?"

I say as I look at the woman asleep on the floor in front of me, a pack of blood had spilt to the side of her, my mind flashed back to to my Mother's torture, this is a vampire, they hide within normal Human families, using them as thralls for blood and pleasure...
