Chapter 1: Ning Rongrong's Unexpected Encounter
In the Kingdom of Barak, Soto City, the stars sparkled, and the moonlight was beautiful tonight. The bustling streets were lined with brightly lit shops. But amidst such a splendid night, a beautiful girl in a white dress was running down the street, crying.
"Why is everyone better than me?" she sobbed. "Am I really that bad? Why do I have to run twenty laps as an assistant soul master? Why does no one support me, stand by my side?"
Ning Rongrong's tears streamed down her face. Ever since childhood, no one had ever denied her like this. It felt unbearable, as if she really was insignificant. Dean Flender's words at Shrek Academy had cut into her heart like a sharp sword. Every time she recalled them, it was as if a knife twisted in her chest, and she couldn't stop questioning herself.
Earlier, Ning Rongrong had refused to follow Shrek Academy's devilish training, and then Flender had belittled her to nothing. Infuriated and aggrieved, the little princess had run out of the academy, questioning herself the entire way.
Just then, loud shouting from the side caught her attention. A shop was bustling with activity.
"Come and see, everyone! This store is selling a mission card for 10,000 gold soul coins, and someone actually bought it!" a voice exclaimed.
"Who has such deep pockets? That's a fortune!" another person gasped.
"What is this? A scam shop? Let's go in and see if the boss is a fraud!" another added.
"If the boss is lying, we'll block him and beat him up!" someone else threatened.
Groups of people, in threes and fives, poured into the shop, eager to uncover the truth. Was this store really selling mission cards at such outrageous prices?
Ning Rongrong, momentarily distracted from her sadness, found herself intrigued. When she was upset, the little princess liked to shop—a lot. Pushing aside her sorrow for now, she followed the crowd into the shop, hoping to explore its mysteries and lighten her mood.
The store was spacious, accommodating the throng of customers, yet the furnishings were simple. A large sandalwood counter stood in the center, along with a rocking chair—and that was all.
The boss was a young man, likely in his early twenties. He was very tall, standing at a full 1.9 meters, with a dignified and handsome appearance. His eyes, especially, were captivating—deep as a pool of water, capable of drawing one in if stared at for too long.
In front of the counter stood a chubby young man with a round face, flanked by two tall, thin lackeys.
"This is Solio, the eldest son of Soto City's Lord's Mansion!" someone whispered.
"You'd better not be lying, or we'll break your leg, and you'll have to beg for food!" one of the lackeys threatened viciously.
Hearing this, the boss, Li Haiyun, frowned slightly and cast a piercing gaze at them. Instantly, the air in the shop seemed to thicken, a terrifying aura permeating the space. This presence was overwhelmingly powerful, surpassing even the cultivation of a Title Douluo.
The crowd felt a crushing weight on their chests, as if they were being pressed down by a mountain, struggling to breathe.
Thump!
The lackey who had spoken harshly collapsed to his knees, trembling in fear. As soon as he hit the ground, the oppressive aura vanished, releasing everyone from its grip.
"The owner of this shop is a formidable soul master!" someone whispered in awe.
"He's not to be trifled with!" another agreed.
Everyone in the store was shaken, now too afraid to cause any trouble in front of Li Haiyun.
"This handsome boss... his strength is terrifying!" Ning Rongrong's beautiful eyes widened in shock. His aura seemed even more powerful than her Grandpa Jian's. Who was this mysterious figure, and why had he come to Soto City?
Intrigued, Ning Rongrong continued to observe with keen interest.
"You fool! How dare you provoke this senior? You deserve to die!" Solio, the eldest son, cursed as he kicked the lackey aside. Just moments ago, Li Haiyun had demonstrated his power, convincing Solio that the boss was indeed a master, and the items he sold were genuine.
"Senior, here are 10,000 gold soul coins. I'll buy a mission card," Solio said respectfully, placing the gold coins on the counter. The coins piled up like a small mountain, their golden glow mesmerizing everyone present.
Li Haiyun lightly tapped the stack of coins with his slender fingers, and the system automatically counted them. Once confirmed, the coins were stored in his system's storage space. At the same time, with a wave of his hand, Li Haiyun produced a red-gold card out of thin air.
The card gleamed with a golden hue, adorned with intricate and mysterious patterns. It was clearly extraordinary.
"Inject your soul power into the mission card," Li Haiyun instructed calmly. "The mission details will appear on the card. Complete the mission, and you will receive exclusive rewards."
Li Haiyun handed over the scarlet-gold card.
Li Haiyun, originally from Earth, had been transported to the world of Douluo Continent. Bound to a mission card sales system, he now owned his own shop. Whenever someone bought a mission card and completed the task, they could receive rewards up to a hundred times the original value—truly a heaven-defying system!
This was the grand opening of Li Haiyun's store.
Solio, excited, stared at the golden card. His intuition told him that this card was anything but ordinary. The surrounding guests were equally captivated, unable to tear their eyes away.
Turning gold into cards—what a remarkable feat!
"Is this the mission card?" Ning Rongrong murmured curiously, continuing to watch.
"Boss, I'm ready to inject my soul power!" Solio announced, channeling his energy into the scarlet-gold mission card.
In an instant, purple words appeared on the card, revealing the mission details.
