Code of Shadow

Twenty-third of July, year 2008. Fifteen year-old Desdemona Von Genesis stood atop a certain skyscraper. The night was soaring in silence, and the wind blows cold. However, Desdemona was unfazed. She felt no fear of the height, nor the dread of the night, not even the coldness of the wind.

Her blue petticoat fluttered gently, as the ribbon on the back of her maid uniform swayed. Standing on the edge of the skyscraper, she looked down upon the busy city; where lights flashing like small dots in the distance below.

Desdemona probably has one of the most beautiful set of eyes. Her right eye was crystal blue, while her left eye was golden. Yes, she's heterochromatic.

She closed the crystal blue shut, and kept her golden eye fixed upon a certain building twenty blocks away.

Gently, she raised her right hand which was holding a Glock equipped with a silencer. Her movements were steady, and her aim was beyond precise. It was perfect.

What does Desdemona see, you ask? Well, she sees the city; She sees the cars passing through, here and there, on the streets; she sees the pedestrians, even their faces; the buildings, their windows and doors; she sees it even from far away. Like the one located twenty blocks from her.

She sees it clearly; the area around that specific building, the door which just opened, or even the bald beefy middle aged man who just came out of its door. She even watched as the man was about to enter his limousine. Then suddenly, there was that quick sound of a silenced bullet being fired that slightly interrupted the quietude for a split second. Like a single tug on the sixth string of a guitar.

The scene was silent, and in silence did it continued. The beefy bald man was shot down before he could even enter his car.

Desdemona opened her other eye again. She raised the gun; which was now emitting smoke from its muzzle, and stared at it with no remorse.

'Desdemona.' uttered an elderly voice from the earpiece she's wearing. 'You have done well for your first mission. Come back now, my child."

The transmission stopped immediately.

Desdemona turned around and walked back inside.

Till this day, they have yet to catch her, no, not even. Till to-day, they have yet to catch a glimpse of her face. Living under the shadows of this world, Desdemona and her other Seven siblings were the world's finest assassins. They enter no stage, but they kill whoever had their Master's spotlight.
