AFTER FORTY DAYS, BACK IN ANNA'S OFFICE

DREW POV

Finally, my training with the others has ended and I am supposed to separate from them today, move to my own room, and have my separate schedule today. So here I am in front of my mentor's office ready to report.

I knocked on the door several times, but I didn't get an answer, which is weird, they affirmed that she is back in her office, yes, she wasn't here most of the previous time. This situation just got me worried so I moved to the window to check if there is someone inside.

The moment I saw Anna on the floor, my heart jumped in fear, why the h**k I'm afraid if something happened to her, I'm supposed to kill her if anything, but here I am panicked hurrying to the door then to her.

After I checked her pulse and if she got herself hurt from the fall, I moved her to the sofa.

Yes, this was supposed to be also her room but there is no trace of any bed or a convertible sofa.

After a while, while I was putting my hand on her forehead to check her temperature, I was surprised that she fixed my palm on her forehead with her right hand.

ANNA POV

It took me a whole minute before I realized what I did. I immediately jerked sitting in my place.

'I'm sorry it's the first...' I finally opened my eyes and realized that it was Andrew. I could see it that he noticed me panicking. I tried to calm myself but let's say I'm doing a bad job at that right now.

'Andrew?.. do you need something?'

'I came to report that I was given a room and I'm moving to it today' he answered calmly 'how are you feeling?'

I looked at him surprised 'you know you are not supposed to worry or look after me' Arghhh my vison is blurry and why the h**k I fired back at him? I rubbed my hands on my face and breathed before talking to him again 'sorry and thank you! As for the room, I got it fixed and prepared two weeks ago. I didn't let you use it because I saw you bounding with the others so I gave you more time with them'

He sounded curious 'Prepared?'

'Yes! You can use the bathroom as a safe place to call, no one will be able to know what's going on inside there, just don't store or hide anything in the room so you won't rise suspicions' While talking I took my time examining him, it was a bit hard to concentrate but I managed to. He looked beat up, it was expected but this is beyond normal, as if they neglected him on purpose, knowing Garen I bet it was his doing.

DREW POV

She was clearly not ok and despite that, she made the time to do that for me, I really didn't know what to say except 'Thank you!' and I meant it.

'Can you come closer?' Why is she asking me this!

I asked surprised 'what!'

'Come and sit closer to my reach, I'm dizzy so I can't go to you' she insisted so I moved my chair and sat in front of her.

'Is this, ok?'

'Bend a little!' come again?

Despite My confusion I did as she asked, my face was in the middle of the distance between us but still, it made me feel hot to the point I felt my cheeks burning. A sensation I am experiencing for the first time in my life. Am I blushing? It only became weirder when Anna reached for my face and put her hand on my jaw and cheek. At that moment, my feelings became all jumbled, but I knew I didn't hate what I was experiencing. And this scent Oh GOD this scent is hypnotizing.

'It's done!' She said and drew back, so I did the same 'Remember! I know having scars is nothing for you since you are used to it, but your looks are one of your assets now, so don't hesitate to use the medical team here the moment you get hurt. This one was a thank you and an apology for earlier' what is she talking about? The moment it hit me I passed my hand on where was supposed to be a wound but I felt nothing, I immediately stood and went to the window, yes, she didn't even have a freaking mirror like other girls do, and again there was nothing, no trace of my wound. I turned toward Anna astonished. Before I could filter or measure what I said next I blurted what was going on in my mind

'Who...what are you?'

She just smiled at me wryly as it was the silliest question ever 'Something you shouldn't be close to?'

At that moment, Garen entered the room! Breaking any chance for me to correct the huge mistake I just did.

She smiled looking at Garen 'Maybe I should revoke your access to this room!'

He smiled back at her after eying me 'come on! I just figured it's time you come back, so I came to check on you! Should I go back?'

'No, it's Ok! Andrew take tomorrow to rest, see you after tomorrow at sunrise in front of the first Gate!'

I just nodded then went out, what could I even do or say after what I said?

ANNA POV

After the door closed and while Garen was approaching to sit, I stood and went in direction of the bathroom.

'What did you do to him?'

I didn't answer him until I got out of the bathroom after washing my face.

'I should be the one asking questions! Weren't you supposed to monitor him while I was away?'

The malice in his grin was impossible to miss 'If I do that without fault, you won't have a reason to be here often!'

'Come on! You can't play those games with me now! He lost weight and you didn't even push him to use the medical care!

'He is still healthy, isn't he?' I knew it would be hard to get him to cooperate but this cunning man.. Arghhh

'Ok, let's put an end to this so listen! If you try to use him again, I'm out. Someone else can train him and I won't be part of the training anymore, is that clear old man?'

Oh, he definitely didn't see this coming.

'Ok! don't get irritated! I still need to talk to you!'

'Is it the headmaster?'

He looked surprised that I could tell 'yes!'

'What does he want again?'

He shrugged 'I have no idea! He just asked for you!'

'Ok! I will freshen up and go see him!'

IN THE HEADMASTER OFFICE

ANNA POV

I leaned forward 'Listen, Edward, you know too well this isn't the first time, so even if you try, my answer won't change. I won't take the position of headmaster as in ever, so stop bugging me and start looking for a good heir. Garen, is a good choice!'

'Garen is my only choice, that's why I'm trying with you, he is too free- spirited to be the head!'

I smiled 'At least a new wind might blow!'

'You know I'm worried but you are making jokes?'

'Come on! Give the man a chance! Do you know that Jimen didn't want you to succeed him for another stupid reason? Just because you are way too strict!'

He laughed 'I heard you mocked him by his predecessor, like you are doing to me now!'

'I did! And it's still entertaining to see you all trying to ditch the responsibility on me'

Looked serious 'You are the obvious choice! You were here since the beginning! So, it's only natural that we choose you and keep trying!'

'Ok! Since we closed this subject what's the other one you wanted to talk to me about?'

'Your disciple! From your request, it seemed to me like you want him out more than anything!'

'I do! But I also know the rules! Even if I get you to spare him, the others won't'

'I might have a solution for that, and it must be done before I hand over my position'

'What is it?'

'Do you trust him?'

IN DREW'S ROOM

DREW POV

What happened in ANNA's office threw me of balance I knew that even running at this hour won't do me any good so I did the next best thing, and here I am sitting on the edge of the sink in the bathroom talking to Ethan.

I run my hand through my hair 'I don't know man! I really don't know what's happening to me!'

'So again, what did happen? You didn't give me any details!'

'I told you, my heart was racing, the same happened in the hospital, and I kept looking at her lips! Have I become crazy? Or maybe a pervert?'

He started laughing 'A bit late but I would vote for the later!' well this just got me irritated.

'Come on man, I'm serious!'

He smiled at me 'Drew! You are a late bloomer apparently, we call what you are experiencing, having a crush on someone it's totally normal, so stop panicking, you are not a pervert! (He laughed) but you will be if you lose control of yourself, and with your drive, I can't exclude this possibility'

'You are screwing with me, right?'

'As ironic as it seems that's the situation you are in now!'

I put my hand on my face, I mean, I knew it was something like this, I even tried to stop it, but it's just getting out of control 'I can't believe this! How can I stop it?'

He laughed 'You don't!' He stopped laughing and sounded serious 'and in your case don't ever try. Your feelings have finally moved for someone, if you try to restrict them, it's either you will really turn cold or it will backfire on you, and you will commit an idiocy that you will regret for the rest of your life, well with her I don't think you will have any life left to regret. So just live the experience and try to enjoy it...'

I snapped at him 'Are you freaking serious? What would I enjoy if I'm going to kill her?'

It came out of me as a whisper I didn't know repeating it would hurt this way 'She doesn't even consider herself human!'

'Man! that's the sweetest thing I have ever heard you say about anyone!' was it? Ethan isn't the kind to play with me on such a thing. He knows too well how fucked up this situation is 'Drew?'

'Yeah! I'm still listening!'

'Don't get afraid of your own feelings, not this kind of feelings! Maybe it's a bit late but it's time you have some balance in your life! You said you have tomorrow free, so get some sleep and rest. Let things flow naturally and don't overthink it!'

'I will try!'

Later that night I didn't realize what I was doing until

I was in front of her room, with a tray in hand and knocking on the door.

IN ANNA'S ROOM AT TWO AM

Before I could turn back, she told me to come in

I entered and headed toward the table. Since she was laying on the sofa with her arm on her face.

'Sorry for intruding this late!'

She didn't move to look at who came in and was beside her which is in this case me 'aren't you supposed to be asleep?' I guess she didn't need to.

'I couldn't while I know you are still running a height fever!'

I put the tray on the table and sat on its edge.

'How are you feeling?'

Anna moved her arm and sat, but when she looked at me it was clear she is still dizzy.

'Really what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to hate me and want to kill me or something?' she looked annoyed.

I took a long breath then answered her 'That didn't change. But I still didn't pay you back for saving me, and now I'm indebted even more, so consider it paying back little by little' I pointed toward the tray.

Only after I pointed it out that she noticed the try.

'It appears your fever got the best of you, not only you are dizzy and can't see clearly but you can't hear clearly too'

I carried a cup with a solution I prepared for her fever and gave it to her 'I made do with what I found in the kitchen, hope it works'

She took the cup 'You will lose your mind if you keep contradicting yourself' surprisingly enough she drank it in one go without questions.

'Didn't you suspect I did poison it?'

'Don't think I trust you. It's just that after all this time, my body became immune to most of the poison you can find or concoct' She tried to put the cup on the table but I took it from her hand and put it myself, I knew with her condition it will end on the floor.

After a long silence, I looked at her eyes 'I'm sorry!'

'About?'

'What happened earlier! I shouldn't have said what I said!'

She just dismissed the subject like it was nothing

'Don't beat yourself for that, I'm used to this!'

'Doesn't make it any more right!'

She looked at my eyes 'Apology accepted!'

'Since you don't have a bed, do you want to use the one in my room? This sofa won't do you any good!'

'Go rest and take care of yourself, as for me, I will go to my room as soon as I'm able to'

This is surprising because her words meant only one thing, that this wasn't her actual room, and I didn't hear about any other room that she occupies in the temple 'You are in no shape to go anywhere far!'

She smiled at me 'I like that you have used your time here wisely! What else did you hear?'

'That you are one of the founders which means you are over two hundred years and that you created most of the combat and infiltration styles taught here'

'Is that it?'

'The others, I assumed they are exaggerations'

'They are, indeed!'

I stood 'My offer still stands about the bed'

She leaned back smiling a smile full of mischief while keeping my gaze 'Will we share it if I accept?'

What the H.. I swear I felt my body heating, I bet I'm blushing again, what's worse I didn't hate the idea which is more confusing.

'It's not what I meant..'

The mischief disappeared from her eyes but she kept the smile 'Calm down soldier, it's not what you assumed either! I need you on that bed tonight and tomorrow because I need your physical charts before we start. It appears you didn't pay attention that it's full of sensors' what the? I didn't see that coming, if what she is saying is right than it must be one hell of a tech.

'No, I didn't!'

'Good! it only means they didn't do a sloppy work'

'Is there a reason why you didn't just ask me to do a full check up here?'

'I know you can fake it! you have multiple bruises on your right side' I was shocked to hear this since it was true how did she know? 'If you do the checkup the normal way you will just pretend it doesn't hurt but you can't fake that when you are asleep. If you don't change positions while sleeping just to avoid this, the bed will make you. If you don't sleep on it, you will be punished...now, what about I make you call me master?

I was stunned by her suggestion but I collected myself in a record time 'After all, you are my mentor! If you ask me to call you 'master I will!

Her smile returned 'I figured! It won't work'

'Were you testing me?'

'Yes! So, keep going before I come up with something else!'

I smiled while heading toward the door 'Have a good night!'

I stopped at the door, hesitated for a moment but turned toward Anna 'Do you ever lie?'

She looked surprised by my question 'Do I?'

I smiled 'Guess you don't need to!'

Am I imagining things or she just showed me a genuine smile? Hell, it cut some strings in my heart, so before I lose it, I just nodded and went out.

IN DREW'S ROOM

I tried to sleep I couldn't. I went to run I even trained for an hour but nothing worked to calm me. So, I called Ethan again, I knew he was sleeping now but I have no other choice. I needed to calm down, or I will go back to her. Yes, I think I'm that crazy for right now.

ETHAN POV

I was sleeping peacefully, until I was woken up by the incoming call from my dear Friend, Drew, a person who would never call unless it's an emergency or I made him promise to call, and here he is calling for the second time in a matter for hours.

I knew he was screwed up the moment I saw how he treated her in the hospital.

I didn't push it much at the time in hope he would figure it out in his own.

He is intelligent, yes even a genius but he is a virgin.

For someone with a full package, he sure attracts girls and women deadly gorgeous one more than the other, but no, he had to treat them like dust, and the one who lit his heart finally, is but an assassin, who might burn him even if she wasn't linked to the assassination of his brother. I'm not saying she is not beautiful; she is beyond gorgeous but her life is way too complicated, and her age is a big obstacle, I mean would she even see him as a man?

For a moment I contemplated not answering him and just sending a message telling him to go to sleep, but I knew he was on edge or else he wouldn't call. So, I did what any bro would do I activated the call and gave him a piece of my mind, even if he is cornered.

'Man, it's after two am there, weren't you supposed to go to sleep?'

'For a moment I didn't dislike the idea of sleeping with her!' He said with a low voice, he was clearly squatting down in the bathroom.

Hearing that, got me full awake in a record time shocked 'Wooooow wow hold your reins! What happened again? Did you go see her this late?' this is going way too fast. Did he lose all his filters or what?

'Yes! I couldn't sleep so I had to check on her!' so he became attached to her and he is aware of this now.

'And?'

'We just talked and somehow she teased me about sleeping together, of course, it wasn't anything inappropriate but I didn't dislike the idea! I even imagined us just lying down!' no this isn't right! I can't imagine her the kind who teases someone like Drew, Unless.. she saw past him! In this short period? How can that be possible?

'Wait! She teased you? What happened exactly?'

'I proposed to her to sleep on my bed since she doesn't have one, her fever is still high and the sofa isn't comfortable, so she said if I wanted us to sleep together since I have to sleep on my bed to get my physical chart, apparently, it's equipped with sensors'

I went silent for a while then 'I see! She didn't turn you back when you showed in her room?' This girl will drive him crazy if this is her way of talking, he will keep misunderstanding her since he is attracted to her.

He run his hand through his hair 'She said I should stop confusing myself, if I hate her and want to kill her, I should concentrate on that and stop trying to help her' what the.. Correction she definitely can read him like an open book.

'That was before the bed thing?' I said trying to put everything into order

'Yes!'

'And she didn't ask you to leave?'

'Her attitude was clear that I was welcome to leave anytime. it's like she is always careful not to be extreme with me as not to hurt me' I bet she is an idiot, she saved your life, and didn't hesitate to put her life on the line to leave the hospital for your safety and now she is cleaning after your mess. 'I'm losing my mind here!' he said clearly frustrated by the whole situation.

I smiled, it was definitely a good sign for my friend at least, I would hate it if he had a one-sided love, but it's still love 'If you dream about her tonight don't try to wake up just enjoy the ride. I know he will try to resist his feelings; I understand where this is coming from, but why can't he see that if she wanted, she could just get rid of him in place of going to the trouble of shielding him!

'Did you talk to Siera?' That's why I like and hate him, even in the middle of his torments he is still thinking about my love problems, which is nothing new. In our circle he is our center.

I laughed 'putting her in a bad position? isn't that what you are supposed to want? (He exhaled heavily) Go to sleep Drew and stop thinking, I want you in a good mood tomorrow to help me with my breakup and that is in a few hours!'

I smiled; he indeed knows me too well 'You know the routine!'

I laughed 'If I die this time, you are responsible since you are not here to defend me, you know me! I can't break my own rules'

'Do you want me to call Tristan?' Hell no, he is way too attractive for his own good.

'Are you serious? With him around I have no chance!'

I smiled 'Maybe I just miss the thrill?'

'No! I don't even have the luxury of showing to save your ass!

(He said irritated) God! Sometimes, I really don't see how I ended up with you as my friends!'

Well wonder about that myself, except for your dark side you are a goody two shoes and we are a bunch of delinquents hhhh 'I'm glad that you do realize that you are the oddball in the group.'

'I will arrange for Griffin to accompany you!' No way.

'Your assistant? No way, he is a fun killer and to top it, he is married'

'When did you become my girlfriend?' I said irritated, I do understand he is worried about me, and yes, I get myself in some shitty situations, but he is overreacting, or maybe not. whim of yours! (I went silent for a while) Ethan?

'Ok!'

'Ok, for Grifin?'

'Ok for: no thank you I won't go anywhere since you are not here to protect my back'

He looked surprised 'Are you serious?'

'Yes! Maybe it's time I delete this rule!'

'I'm sorry! I didn't want...'

I interrupted him 'This is the first time we talk about this! You are my bro I absolutely don't want to add another scar to your heart because of some random hookup'

'I..'

I smiled 'You will make it up for me when you are back! We will party all night at least for three days'

He smiled back at me 'Babysitting you for three consecutive days! I will take that! But you know, I don't have a high tolerance for alcohol so I'm telling you now, no drinking for me!'

'Pussy!'

'You know it won't work on me!'

I smiled 'What if your favorite assassin asks you for a drink?'

'I heard she doesn't!'

I said surprised 'Oh!' that's way too good for a coincidence, and wow! he even asked about this.

He said aggravated 'Oh? what's that supposed to mean? You know what? I don't want to know; I'm going to sleep! And you! Keep your word!'

I smiled 'I will! Have a good night!'

AT SUNRISE IN THE BACKYARD OF THE TEMPLE

DREW POV

Before dawn, I did go for my morning run and came back after sunrise. Passing by my spot in the backyard, yes, I dare say my spot since I didn't see anyone get past this place, I'm sure since the window in my room is open on this side. I saw someone hands. If it was mixed with a thousand other hand, I bet I would recognize it, before even inhaling the scent I'm smelling right now, undoubtedly it was Anna, my mind body and heart were racing to go see what was she doing on the ground, it just didn't feel right especially that I know she isn't doing that good.

Before I make another step, I just stepped away repeating to myself, like a mantra, that, she doesn't mean anything to me, that this is none of my business and that I have no obligation to check on her, but who am I kidding.

I was trying to convince myself but with each step I take away from her, it felt like a stab to my heart.

To make sure I won't go back on my decision I quickened my steps toward the stairs leading to my room.

After I showered and put on my clothes and while I was talking to Ethan I took a look at the backyard from the window of my bathroom, and there she was, sill in the same spot clearly unconscious. Why the heck no one checks on this place? Will she stay like this till when? Drew gets yourself together you are still on the phone.

'You sure you are good?' I said to Ethan checking on him for the last time, I really don't want him to get into trouble especially that I'm not beside him.

'Why do I feel like you want to end the call? Your eyes are already fixated elsewhere' he said amused, this F***er always finds a way to decipher my voice tone.

'Because I have? I don't know man' I said knowing I can't get away with it.

He smiled 'Is it Anna?'

'Yeah!'

'Go! I'm good and promise, you don't have to check on me, I'm staying in my apartment tonight' Is he for real? Why does he keep pushing me toward her while he should do the opposite? But on the other hand, I know he is right. My mind heart and consciousness will just keep bugging at me.

Without notice, I just ended the call and hurried down to the backyard under the tree where she was laying. I crouched and checked her pulse, her head was leaning on the tree trunk, it was as if she just passed out there in this bizarre position.

I sat beside her and inclined her head until it was on my lap. I arranged her left arm on her stomach then put my hand gently on her forehead while pulling back her hair.

We stayed like that until she started to regain her consciousness. The moment she did, she tried instantly to sit but I held my hand firmly on her forehead and fixed her in her place.

This is the second time she does this; doesn't she know how to wake properly or at least like normal people do?

'Will you just stay put for a while? Each time you regain your

consciousness you snap sitting like a robot, and that's not good for you'

She looked surprised when she opened her eyes, she surely didn't expect me 'Andrew?'

'Yes! can you just breath and take your time before anything else?' she really just closed her eyes again and relaxed. I won't lie, this whole situation was relaxing to me too, and strangely enough I enjoyed it.

After a while.

She started talking while her eyes remained closed, I stil didn't pull away my hand since she didn't say anything, which means she didn't mind, and I didn't want to pull it either, those little tingles I feel at our skin contact are kind of enjoyable, am I a perv? Am I even supposed to feel this? 'I suppose this is one of your secret places, that's how you found me!'

'It is!'

'Beside me and Juan who is long dead you are the third person to choose this spot as a hideout' hearing that made me smile, it only means that we might be twisted the same way, and yes, she still didn't ask me to move my hand can she just forget that it's still on her forehead?

'I assumed it wasn't used a lot that's why it grew wild which made it a perfect spot to hide for some quiet time. (After some silence) Did you forget to breathe again? Or is it that you did it deliberately?' I asked not sure if she would want to answer me, but I felt the need to know if she was self-harming.

'Again?' she asked sounding surprised not by the fact that I know but the fact that I cared enough to pay attention.

She opened her eyes and looked directly at mine 'Your eyes are becoming softer while you look at me!'

I smiled 'You shifted the subject to me, again!'

She closed her eyes again, which made me happy in a way, for a moment there I tough she would leave 'I don't want to hear that speech from someone who almost ruined his life by tracking me down!' Ouch that hurt, and again she just brought me back to the harsh reality of our situation.

'You could have gotten rid of me!' I said knowing it's the truth and in the same time I need to know why she didn't.

'I have nothing against you, besides tracking me. If I held a grudge against all, who did it, it will be just exhausting' does she have that many enemies? Well, she is an assassin after all.

'You didn't have to deal with it yourself, that family of yours is more than capable of that!' and it's true, The HAROLDS are more than enough to get rid of any obstacle for her.

'I didn't always have them!' she deadpanned and it made me speechless, she is basically saying that even with having someone she could count on to do her bidding she won't let them.

Before I could think of saying anything, Garen popped out of nowhere and he stood stunned while looking at us.

GAREN POV

After looking for ANNA in some of her spots since she wasn't in her room, I went to the backyard knowing that she is used to go there sometime. Once there I was greeted by the most unbelievable sight in my life, Anna the phoenix, the untouchable woman was laying on the ground her head on the lap of that kid.

Anna was never close to anyone, never mention this close and here she is.

Is that why she is shielding him? Because he can touch her without being burned? Or, is there more to it? What's there relation exactly?

I smiled 'I was sure I would find you here! The old man needs you! (I approached them) Do you need a hand?'

She smiled 'You can always try your luck old man and make your life shorter' she said amusingly while she tapped on Andrew's hand.

Andrew moved his Hand and she stood immediately.

She looked at the kid as if she remembered something 'Did you eat all the food I sent you?' Uh Hoooh this is promising.

'It was a bit too much for me so some is left!'

'I correct myself! You must eat whatever I send to you, all of it!' she said sternly like a mother.

He smiled while standing 'Are you trying to bulk me or something?'

I smiled at him preferring to warn him of what's to come, if he is intelligent enough as I predicted, he will get the hint

'Kid! If she tells you to eat, then do believe me, you will need every bite of it, since you only have today before your hell descends!'

He looked at Anna confused 'Is he serious?'

'You better do what I tell you without questions! Let's go Garen, Edward must be losing his patience by now!' She said while leading the way. Unbelievable, she is worrying about him because he became older.

I laughed 'Oh! Weren't you the one giving him hell just a few years back?'

She smiled 'He doesn't have the heart for that anymore'

IN THEIR WAY TO THE HEAD MASTER OFFICE

'So!'

'So?' She answered with a question as if she didn't understand what I meant but I'm too curious to let it go.

'That's a first!' I exclaimed in hope she will give me more info, any actually will be good, well she is that kind of Well.

'I know' she said simply as a matter of fact!

'You really didn't feel like killing him?' because yeah that's her normal reaction.

'Yes! Keep this to yourself! I already have a team working on it!'

'This isn't the first time he touches you?' I said surprised, the guy really moves fast, I must applaud him for that. I don't know what's their real relation but I'm sur he likes her by the way he looks at her either from distance or when close to her, he even sometimes looks like he wants to devour her! Well, who wouldn't? Normally they are intimidated to even voice the tough, but this kid acts on it. Either he is too courageous, too enamored or too stupid.

'I know that you are curious especially that I shared with you this part of my life, but you are not supposed to have all the details!'

'What if they don't give you an explanation?'

'Then I will need to take one of two options either kill him or keep him close, since I hope he will choose the third option'

'Which is?' I asked surprised, but when she didn't answer I smiled 'you don't really want to kill him!'

'And I don't want to keep him close either!' I don't think she is afraid of what might happen, then why does she want him away from her?

I smiled 'You saw how he is looking at you!'

I laughed; she is so heartless when it comes to this subject. I still don't know till this day the reason behind such behavior 'And like me! What if he doesn't?'

'Why should I care? It's his problem!' she deadpanned, and she is right, it has always been the other party's problem not hers.

I smiled 'indeed!

ONCE IN EDWARD'S OFFICE GAREN STAYED OUT

ANNA POV

The moment I stepped in Edward's office, I went to the chair and sat. It was clear I was irritated; how can I not be? I just was F***ing sleeping again, whith him as a direct cause, I don't even understand anymore when it turns from unconscious to sleep, this whole situation with him is going to drive me crazy. What is worse is that his touch makes me calmer, it's like it chases away all my demons at once

'Ok, old man! shoot it all at once!' I said to Edward trying to get it done with quickly.

He was surprised, as it seems by my reaction 'Is there something bothering you?' really? Even if I do, you won't be able to help.

'I have things to take care of! So, what is it about?'

'It's about Garen's leg!'

'You know I can't do anything about it! It's too old for me to heal!'

'Is there no other way?'

'We may have a way in the facility! It's been five years now since I proposed to him the possibility but he refused saying it would be too much painful! Especially that it won't recover one hundred percent!'

'Can you force him?'

'No' I deadpanned.

'I don't want him to have problems after I'm gone, and you are not here all the time to support him!'

I just called out loud the person in question which surprised the old man 'Garen!'

Garen opened the door and entered. When he saw me signaling him to approach, he did, and finally, he sat on the chair beside me.

'Edward wants me to drag you to one of my facilities to heal your leg!'

He laughed 'are you serious?'

Since I don't have time to play, I deadpanned 'You want me to drag you there, or you are going on your own? Because apparently he won't let go of this matter until it's done!'

Garen looked at Edward as if checking if that's what's going to happen 'don't I have a say in this?'

'If it's up to me, No! But unfortunately, she is against it and says you have to make your own choice'

Garen asked confused 'So! Is it my choice or not?'

'I can't force her to force you, so it's your choice!'

Garen looked at me pleading 'The same procedure?'

Edward intervened 'Don't start acting like a pussy at your age! (He pointed at me) Look at her! She gets broken all the time, do you think she doesn't feel or she is stronger than you?' Why is he talking about me as if I'm not here?

'She is stronge..r'

Edward interrupted his disciple again 'Wrong! That's where you got it all wrong about her! Even if she does have all those strange powers, she is still human, she just doesn't whine about it! It took me a lifetime to realize that. So better you forge it into your head now!' yeah, he really is ignoring my presence to give him a lesson.

'Old man! This isn't about me! So don't use me to put pressure on him!' I said trying to get him to stop.

'Just stop it, Edward, I'm doing it!' Garen said finally.

Edward smiled at me a triumphant smile 'Good! So, he is in your hands now'

I stood while talking to Garen 'Your ride will be here in an hour, don't pack anything'

He smiled at me and I knew he wasn't going anywhere today 'Can't you make it for after your return? I don't want to miss when you go and when you come back!'

I answered mockingly 'Are you serious?'

He pleaded 'Of course, I'm serious! If it wasn't for the fact that you wanted to protect him you wouldn't take him as a disciple and I wouldn't have been able to see it again'

'One week from now! And don't come up with something else to delay it!'

The look on both their faces was pure surprise 'One week? Is that all the training he will get?' Garen said trying to affirm what I already announced.

'Even less, I already have a good idea of what he is capable of so all he need is learning a few techniques that I'm sure he will pick in no time'

'Is that why you are shielding him? Because he is that kind of a monster?'

I just ignored his question waved my hand at them and quitted the office.

IN ANNA'S OFFICE AFTER A FEW HOURS

ANNA POV

I was sitting in my office wishing I could just break Douglass's head at the moment, sometimes he is just so irritating.

'No is a no!'

'Why? Everyone on the board thinks that's the perfect timing to take MILAN corporate over!' Douglass said trying to change my mind, this old fox.

'We' had this conversation five years ago!'

'And you didn't give me an explanation then and now! But now, is different, now I can't just accept that while I see this as the perfect chance. If there is something that you know and you are against, why don't you just share it with me?'

'MILAN is on my hit list! Besides we just don't do meta-human experiments, I was clear about that from the start, you can invest as you want but don't touch my bottom line. Are you satisfied with this answer?'

I interrupted 'Don't test my patience; and Douglass, I saw that you tried to access to Maberel team to see what I assigned them. don't! Because that's none of your fucking business. Are we clear?' I spat my patience hitting the edge.

IN DOUGLASS OFFICE

SAMUEL POV

After my grandpa and Anna's call ended, I was really stunned.

How can he do the very thing that will set her off? Especially that he knows it won't go unnoticed.

'You really tried to spy on her?' I still needed an affirmation.

'It totally slipped my mind that she is the one who put the system in place!' what the .. you are the head of the family how can you forget such thing? She is the freaking creator of this whole empire!

'It's not like you were waiting for a miracle and she would change her mind, but with this, you really pissed her off!'

'Watch your language!' he said getting angry at me.

'What I'm saying is, you saw her latest charts, she is in a bad shape. What if she cuts contact with us?'

IN THE MEANTIME, IN ANNA'S OFFICE

ANNA POV

In the middle of my annoyance because of the call I just ended with Douglass, Andrew entered my office without waiting for my permission.

I'm seriously starting to wonder what he is playing at. Or, is he even playing? He is supposed to think about ways to kill me, but he have zero intent to do so; how I know that? Well, I don't need any mind reading I have been killing for more centuries than I could remember.

'Maybe I should really revoke your access to this office too' I said trying to warn him of my fool mood. To my surprise, he didn't flinch and just approached my office smiling, while holding two cups.

'Sorry I figured that you are not the type to change clothes in here and I saw you on your desk working (He put one cup on my desk) How are you holding?

I pointed to the cup 'What is this?'

'I know your fever is still high so I thought this might make you feel good' Ok so he is officially an idiot, shouldn't he think how he could poison me? Instead, he is thinking about my fever! Even if it's for a little while'

I held the cup, it was cold 'You put ice in it!' this might just be what I needed right now.

'Yes! Try it!'

He started drinking his drink.

'What if I don't like it?' well I know already it's most welcome since it's cold, but I'm wondering what might his answer be.

He smiled 'You can do any prank on me!'

I smiled surprised since I didn't see this one coming 'A prank! That's a new one!' I tried the drink, then I drank it all at once, it was really refreshing, and as I expected it somehow diminished my anger, I might even cook something, I'm famished.

He looked surprised that I drank it in one go. Little does he know that I'm burning, physically and mentally.

'I didn't see this coming! How was it?'

'Thank you, it was refreshing! The mint touch wasn't bad either!'

'Do you want more?'

'No, thank you! So can you tell me why aren't you resting?'

'After what you made me eat for launch? Impossible! I'm going for another run first!'

'It's not like you are going to gain any weight, so go take a nap, and rest as much as you can for the coming hours!

I know you are tough, but what you will experience is hard even on the toughest out there!'

He drank the remaining of his juice 'Ok! I will do as you said!'

Andrew stood and was ready to go. When I started talking, he halted.

'I received a notification that you are needed for work! I can't let you go now, but I can arrange for it in a week, you will accompany Garen in his ride!'

He looked at me surprised 'Ethan didn't tell me anything!'

I answered truthfully 'I don't have the details since I just asked them to keep an eye for you!'

He smiled at me; his eyes full of mischief 'You don't know what kind of work I'm needed for?'

'Should I?'

Still smiling 'No! But I find it strange, since the old man surely did a thorough background check on me, and you didn't look at it'

'Beside that you are an excellent fighter and doctor, I'm not interested in anything else in your life' he looked disappointed but he nodded.

'Fair enough!'

'Andrew, don't come back and get some rest!' I said, but I knew, he would do what he wants in the end. By now, I know that he is not the kind to stay still. Expect for this morning, strangely enough he sat with me and waited until I woke.

He smiled 'Ok!'

DREW POV

I just returned from my run, when while on my way to my room a delicious smell drew me like an absent-minded idiot. I didn't realize what I was really doing until I found myself in front of Anna's office. I really tried to convince myself to go back but this smell is too tempting to ignore. All my senses were telling me that I'm a mess and at least I should take a shower before showing her my face but my treacherous body moved on its own, and in an instant, I was already in the room.

Anna looked at me surprised while she was behind the stove, which clearly was part of a temporary kitchen, because it wasn't here before. I could feel the heat slip to my face, I was really ashamed of what I'm doing, but heck the smell made me hungry. My last resort was to muster my courage and smile.

'Sorry to interrupt'

Seeing through my predicament, she smiled back 'hungry?'

I approached the kitchen 'This smell made me realize I'm famished'

She looked at me amused 'Those weren't your words an hour ago'

'I..' how can I respond to that! She is right!

She interrupted 'I'm kidding' she tapped some kind of a command and a little room appeared at the end of the room 'Go ahead' she mentioned to the new room 'Take a shower and come back, you will find new clothes at the top shelf when you finish'

Oh God this is humiliating, did I smell that much. As if she was reading my mind 'No you are not smelling, (she smiled) this is just one of my table rules' I nodded and went to the room.

I didn't need to change any settings the moment I stepped inside the water just poured like heaven, after a few seconds I realized this wasn't just some normal water, I became too relaxed for it to be just water.

I finished my shower in seven minutes. The moment I went out with a towel on my head the room just disappeared.

I went directly to the stool in front of the Kitchen Island since I saw Anna putting some plates in place.

I smiled 'Now I understand why you don't eat with the others'

'And why is that?'

I looked at her eyes 'This looks and smells delicious'

She smiled and sat on the opposite stool 'Well you can always be disappointed after tasting it'

Without waiting for her invitation, I started eating, and God it was delicious. Don't judge me, and absolutely don't try to warn me, I don't know how but I just know she won't poison me.

Like a kid, I finished my plate and held it asking for another serving which made her laugh. Strangely it didn't offend me, it made me happy especially that despite she was laughing she took my plate and started filling it.

I pouted trying to look hurt, but she knew I was faking 'don't judge'

Smiling 'It's hard to not compare your behavior now and what you said an hour ago'

She gave me my plate but instead of answering her my mind became blank the moment I touched her hand. My whole being was fixated on it, I didn't even realize when I held it. It was too small and delicate, how can such a hand fight? And this feeling! It's different from the time she held my hand on her forehead. When I came back to reality I looked back at her eyes, she was looking at me surprised. I felt the heat go up to my face, did I just blush again? In that moment I saw all amusement fell from her face. I let her hand go.

'Your hand, is cold (I held eye contact) and small!'

When she didn't say anything, I just grabbed my plate and put it in front of me.

'I can't apologize for that'

She resumed eating 'I didn't ask you to. By the way I'm using your data to try and identify why you can touch me'

'Do you have to know? It's not like I'm that big of an exception' I just blurted what was on my mind, but when I saw her reaction 'Does knowing why, means that much to you?'

'Yes', she just stated bluntly.

I nodded 'In that case, if you need something else form me just tell me'

I looked back at my plate avoiding her gaze 'Maybe I'm just imagining things' thankfully she didn't push further. How can I explain this "pull" that I'm feeling toward her! This is just insane.

We continued our meal in silence, I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it, this was one of the most delightful meals I have ever had. The funny thing is that she kept filling my plate before I even finish it completely which I found cute.

I looked at her deciding to fish for some information, hopefully she will keep the conversation going.

'So! Do you have a boyfriend?'

She looked at me surprised 'I didn't hear this line in so long! Are you that direct with girls normally?'

'I don't ask normally' Well that only means she won't answer.

She looked at my eyes amused 'Aren't you supposed to look for my habits to find a way to end me?'

I smiled 'Am I?' well she is f*****g right, at least one of us is still on track. Or not, she is acting like she doesn't care if I'm after her life or not. But the possibility of her being involved in Matt's murder is killing me.

'What's wrong?' she said noticing the torment in my eyes.

I put my fork down 'I know you didn't kill Matt, but I'm still confused about if you were involved somehow or not which is killing me!'

'I should be blind to not recognize someone who doesn't kill blindly, it took me sometime, because you were my only lead, and somehow I just wanted to throw everything on you, but I can't keep ignoring what's already evident'

She smiled 'Too bad for you! This doesn't change my answer! Kill me or let it Go'

'Why are you going to such extent?'

Still smiling 'Maybe because you have the advantage of being able to touch me, this will make the killing way too easy for you', my thoughts were right, her life doesn't mean shit to her! What Shit did she see or live through to become like this!

I just ignored her statement, which I knew was true and continued eating.

'So! Do you have a girlfriend?' hearing this made me almost chock.

Amused by my reaction she gave me a cup of water.

When I finally calmed down, I felt myself grinning unintentionally while gazing at these two abysses that will swallow me whole one day.

'Why? Do you want to meet her?'

She said bored 'So you don't have one, figures' wah that is way too harsh! How the heck could she figure it out? Who Am I kidding? My behavior is selling me out.

'Figures? Am I not boyfriend material?'

She looked at me as if she was ready to give me a lesson.

'Don't kid yourself! You are missing the most essential stuff to make one'

'Which is?' I asked waiting for her answer.

I held my hands in surrender 'True I don't have one (I crossed my arms over my chest) but based on your statement you don't have one either'

I smiled 'Ha, funny. I mean boyfriend, or are you interested in girls?'

She smiled 'Wrong again, I don't fit in that statement because all I do, isn't coming from an obsession or an obligation, it's out of boredom, and I'm not answering the other one' Well this doesn't sit right with me.

She smiled at me 'Add another O'

She smiled again 'No offence taken, and yes I have seen shit, a lot of it! Actually, it's Six and a few centuries as much as I remember, so it's more in the seven thousands'

When she saw I'm still looking at her she laughed.

'What? Did you finally realize that I'm that old?'

I just dismissed it with a wave of my right hand 'Nah, it's just that everything clicks to place now! (I leaned on the island toward her) were you trying to use me to end your life by any chance?'

She smiled at me 'It's not like I hid my intention'

They were right when they said boredom could kill.

'I suppose what I just heard stays between us'

She nodded 'your reaction was one of the most amusing ones'

We continued working on them in silence. When we finished, I leaned toward her and surprised her by a kiss in her cheek.

I smiled while she turned toward me surprised 'Thank you for the delicious meal' she really looks stunned, hell I'm surprised I did it, but man! Can I kiss her again? Oh God this is not Good, am I getting an erection again? Not now, not now please! Who am I kidding, I have to get out of here.

'You are welcome'

'See you tomorrow?'

She smiled one hell of a smile full of mischief 'Sleep early'.

With that, I practically ran out of her room, thanking God and for the first time I'm grateful for this monk clothes, they are doing a great job at concealing what have to be concealed.

ANNA POV

The least I could say about this last forty minutes is "Weird", how the hell could he smell my cooking from outside? He literally barged in like a possessed man in a mission, which was by the way somewhat cute, especially with all the blushing. He knew what he was doing is kind of weird but he couldn't stop himself, which reminds me! Do I really want to perfect his combat style? Well normally, he is in control until it's related to me somehow. Which is again Weird. Should I push him more? He is fun to tease and have around but I can't have him close.

At two am in the morning, I went to Andrew's room without any warnings. He was still asleep but the moment he heard my footsteps he snapped awake. Well, I did tell him to sleep early, didn't I?

I smiled at his sudden move; At least he was alert 'Good! At least you are not too comfortable in here!'

He sat while trying to gain stability. feet on the floor hands on his face scrubbing it, hhhh I got him good 'Anna? I tough someone sneaked into my room!' He said with a sleepy voice.

Still smiling at his misfortune, 'I just did! It's not like it's my room!'

He smiled 'Right!' He looked toward me after he grabbed his shirt and started wearing it, is he not comfortable being shirtless in front of me or is it curtsey? This boy can't stop surprising me.

I tossed some clothes and shoes over his bed 'Wear these! You have two minutes to get down!' I said mockingly, all knowing that he will panic with this constraint. Yeah! Life isn't fair.

He asked shocked 'Two?'

I smiled while exiting the room 'Tik tok!'

Down in the open yard, he found me, Garen and the headmaster waiting for him

I smiled checking him 'One second and you would be late!'

Garen smiled while talking to Andrew 'You could have been discarded that easily because of one second!'

Andrew returned the smile while catching his breath 'Then I'm lucky since I'm not fully awake yet!'

Edward looked at him sternly 'better get yourself together!'

'Yes, Sir!'

I pointed to the backpack on the ground 'This backpack is yours so lift it and let's go!'

While lifting it he noticed there was some kind of chair on the back.

I smiled when I noticed the curious look in his eyes 'That chair is mine! You will be carrying me too!' and instead of being annoyed he looked amused.

Once the backpack in place he smiled 'Hope on!' He leaned until I sat on the chair on his back.

'For now, just follow the trail on the left of the front gate!'

Edward intervened worried 'You sure you want to take him there?'

'You said it yourself we don't have time!' I answered him, but in reality, even if I don't want to keep him close it might be the only way to keep him safe.

'Be safe!' said Edward.

'Andrew took care of her!' Really Garen! And the idiot answered him with a smile.

'I will!'

'That if we are still alive! Come on, move your feet!' I intervened.

That made the two old men laugh but also worried as hell since the place where we are headed, is out of any sort of communication, and known as extremely dangerous even for those who spent their life hiking.

DREW POV

As much as liked the fact that I'm carrying her on my back I was getting paranoid. Why? Well, the moment I took a few steps I felt my load getting heavier. When I realized it's in no way just my imagination, I stopped just a few meters from the others. I just had to know. Sure, her training won't be just to carry her, she is like a feather at the end of the day.

'Am I imagining things or is the backpack getting heavier?'

I swear I felt her smiling 'Not the backpack but me, and I will get heavier more by the time. If you can't handle anymore tell me!'

That caught me of guard but I started moving 'How?'

'It's one of the things I can do. Multiplying the magnetic field around me or around someone or something of my choice, now it's both of us just so I can know if I overdid it!'

As crazy as it might seem, it's Anna we are talking about, I should just stop being surprised 'ok!'

'You took it rather well!'
