[MARINA]
Her eyes fluttered open and then shut. A contented sigh escaped her lips as the hand on her dark long hair made her heart flutter. Her body registered the hand, its movement, the way it reached a particular place and rubbed.
It wasn't the first time Marina fell asleep on Cecil's lap and Cecil loved it.
With Marina's head on her lap, Cecil couldn't help but admire her face. Marveled at her beauty, her long eyelashes resembled her father's. She couldn't help it, her finger traced over Marina's bottom lip slowly.
Marina stirred a little bit.
A smile appeared on her face, trying her best not to wake Marina up completely, Cecil moved aside slowly, however, this didn't happen as Marina lifted her left hand and straddled Cecil. Seeing she didn't want her to leave her side, Cecil sat still. A few minutes passed, the eerie silence noticeable.
Once again, Cecil's thumb traced Marina's upper lip. She couldn't help herself, not when Marina lay on the bed with her lips parted a little bit. She wanted nothing but to latch on to her lips and suck on them.
"You are hurting me," Marina mumbled still with her eyes shut.
"Uh?" Cecil asked looking like a deer caught in the headlights.
"Your hands on my hair, Cecil."
"Oh, sorry."
"We have to go home; they are waiting for you. Your father passed away this morning." Cecil ranted.
Raising her head from Cecil's lap, Marina's eyes caught Cecil's legs. With an irritated tone, Marina asked her why she had her dirty feet on her bed. Cecil excused herself mumbling how earlier she asked her not to. Marina ignored her mumbles and went back to sleep. "If I didn't know any better, I would say you are pregnant," Lana stated.
"Fuck off."
**
"Fuck off." Cecil overheard as she exited the room. Thinking the words were meant for her, she peered back into the room, a frown forming on her face when she saw Marina has returned to sleep. She shrugged her shoulders, concluding to herself Marina was acting as she was because of the saddening news.
Since she couldn't dictate how Marina mourned, Cecil decided to remove her shoes, threw them on the patio, and returned so she could clean where she stepped on. Hopefully, when Marina saw she removed her shoes, she would get her ass up, shower and they would be on their way to the Fishers Pack.
Her breath hitched as soon as she spun around, now with no Marina to run after so she could inform her of the bad news, she took in the house's décor.
Even with the bare wall, Marina's house was splendid. It was furnished just the way Cecil knew Marina loved. The house had two bedrooms, a sitting room, a kitchen, and a room full of gym facilities. Cecil admired it from the door. "Every time," Cecil mumbled as she headed to the back door.
Squinting her eyes, Cecil bent to pick the yellow pail that she could swear would turn anyone blind. She strutted to the tap and opened it. Why yellow of all the colors? She wondered as watched the water flow to the pail. Once it was full, she walked around the house, the last thing she wanted was for Marina to wake up and found her walking all over the house with a pail in her hand.
Thirty minutes later, Cecil looked at what she has done. Pure nothing. She thought. The house looked exactly how she found it. But she knew Marina would know she hadn't wiped where she stepped on.
On her way to the bedroom to wake Marina up so they could leave, she heard the door opening. She turned around, and a smile formed on her face when she saw who it was. "Ivy," Cecil called.
"Hey, where is Marie?"
"Asleep."
"Is she okay?"
Unsure, Cecil managed a slight nod.
"Here. Tell her I stopped by but I had to go back to the office." Ivy paused as she handed her the bag she had in her hand. "It is lunch. Don't touch anything inside her kitchen." Ivy warned.
"Okay," Cecil said, a confused look on her face. "You are leaving?"
"Yes," Ivy replied, missing the confusion on Cecil's face.
It was a busy day at the office and Ivy was exhausted. But she had to go back, both she and Marina couldn't miss work on the same day. She promised Cecil she would return once she finished work and left.
**
The slamming of the front door startled her, Marina cussed under her breath. "Now, now, Cecil, why don't you look for a hammer and bang the door?"
Cecil swallowed hard; Marina looked like an angel that has fallen with her hair pulled in a loose messy ponytail. She approached Marina, her eyes staring deeply into Marina's. This made Marina chuckle lowly, "Cecil?"
"Uhm?" Cecil pulled her hand to the kitchen. Recalling Ivy's warnings, Ivy pointed at the plates, as a way of asking Marina for permission. Marina rubbed her nose with her left hand while pointing at the salad plate with the other. Cecil huffed while taking them.
Placing the plate on the counter, Cecil pulled the counter chair for Marina to sit, Marina, grinned. "You are too kind Cecil."
Smiling, she served her the dish Ivy brought for them and then sat opposite her. They ate in silence, once in a while, Cecil stealing glances at Marina.
From the corner of her eyes, Marina saw the way she looked at her. At first, she chose to ignore but when she couldn't take it anymore, she faced her and asked, "why are you staring at me?"
Instantly, Cecil sprang from her seat, accidentally slapping her bowl with her left hand. Her eyes widened, she looked at Marina and could tell it annoyed the shit out of her. She mumbled, "sorry, I will." She trailed off.
Swiftly, Marina's linked her hand to Cecil's waist and prevented her from falling. Marina pulled her back and then slowly removed her hand from Cecil's waist.
"If you need anything."
Marina interjected, "I need you."
Cecil exhaled, "young missy, go shower, we are going home, now!"
"But I thought you said you want me," Marina said, her eyes kept darting from Cecil's face to the food on the floor.
With a warning glare, Cecil stood her ground. "Go, now!" She moved aside and watched as Marina exited the kitchen, once she heard the bedroom door shut, she called her mother.
"How far are you?"
"Mom, she is acting weird, maybe it is because of the news..." Cecil said.
"There is no room for maybes Cecil, get her here, now!" Chief Ayn seethed.
