A New Beginning

"*Cough!* Haha! So this is how I die...huh." A young man appearing to be in his early twenties muttered while lying in a pool of blood. He appears to be a handsome young man with brown hair and blue colored eyes.

His body full of bullet holes was illuminated by light. His body was soaked in blood, and his vision blurred as seconds passed.

"*Cough!*" The young man lying in the pool of blood coughed off blood then said with a cold tone of voice. "Sigh...I guess I'll die soon. Well...you succeeded on your plan in getting rid of me..."

"Hahaha, that's right! With you gone, I'll get all your assets! I'll become more powerful and wealthy...!" Just at the side of the dying young man, a voice replied to him while laughing victoriously.

"To think that I trusted you all these years and treated you as my best friend...*Cough!* *Cough!*" The dying young man coughed off blood once again.

"Hah! I only befriended you for your money! Did you really think I would've approached you if not for the benefits I'll get from you?! I've waited and planned for this for 5 years...hehe finally!" The voice sneered disdainfully,

"Well...I really am foolish but did you really think after I die, you'll get my assets?! *Cough!* I already arranged everything just in case something happens to me. After I die all my assets will go to orphanages and help many orphaned children....." The dying young man's voice slowly became weaker and trailed off towards the end but before his consciousness fully become blank, he heard the voice earlier having a phone call.

"What?! You mean you can't get his assets to be transferred to me?!"

{Yes boss...that bastard already did some preparations, were too late. We can't take his assets now...} The person on the other side of the phone replied.

The dying young man heard the conversation over the phone and knew his preparations worked. With that, he was relieved and a smile appeared on his face before his consciousness left his body.

The young man with bullet holes in his body, one of the richest men on the planet...died at this time due to the greed of a person he called his best friend for years. A testament to human's endless greed.

Unknown Location~

Meanwhile, in another location, a powerful being watched the whole thing happening.

"Interesting! That young man has the highest good karma in the last 10 billion years!" A voice said in this place which is a dark expanse of darkness with no light.

"Very well...I should reward him for his achievement of getting the highest good karma." Once again the mysterious voice said, "Hm...Oh? So he loved those anime, manga, novels and stuff? I see...then for his achievement, I'll grant him a rebirth with some perks from me. And it seems he particularly liked that one series, then I'll center one of my perks for him in that series. Let's me watch how you'll grow with the things I give you, young man. Hahaha, it's been eons since I've become this excited! Don't disappoint me..."

After the voice finished what it said, 3 light orbs of different colors varying from black, silver and gold. Each represents the three perks the mysterious voice mentioned.

"Black for the system I'll give him, Silver for a random bloodline he will get which depends on his luck but I think I'll make it evolvable with an appropriate price. I'll lock it first so he needs to unlock it. And lastly the gold light orb for limitless growth potential. If he persists, someday he can reach my level. It's been quite lonely in the void after all. Well, that's it, now will be the start of his new journey!"

The 3 light orbs then vanished from the void and silence returned once again. The voice had gone silent too.

Located inside the demon slayer corps was a large estate that is often used as a recovery base for injured Demon Slayers. This estate is better known as the Butterfly Mansion.

And inside a particular room of the estate were three people.

"Nee-san! You've already brought one kid, and now another?! The butterfly mansion isn't an orphanage, you know?" Said by a petite girl with a pale complexion and large, compound-like eyes that lack pupils, only a haze of gradient purple.

She has black wavy hair that fades to dark purple, styled at the back of her head into a flat yakai-maki bun, fastened with a white, turquoise and light purple butterfly ornament.

Her chin-length strands of hair in front of her ears were tucked in. She wears a uniform consisting of silver buttons and cloth a darker shade of purple. She also sported a plain white haori over it.

"Now, now, don't be like that Shinobu-chan, can't you see how cute Kanao and this boy are? Do you want to see this boy gets eaten by demons if I hadn't brought him here?" Replied the other girl towards Shinobu.

A tick mark appeared on Shinobu's forehead, "But who will take care of them here? We are busy with our demon slaying work and the kakushi are also busy."

Kocho Kanae just smiled at her little sister.

Kocho Kanae, was a girl of a slender build, much like her younger sister, who was rather tall for her age and had notably red lips in contrast to her pale complexion.

She had long, straight, black hair that reached just below her waist, worn down with two shorter clumps over her shoulders, and arched, ear-length bangs on either side of her face.

Her eyes were a pale violet and slanted towards the sides of her face, bright and bug-like, with many notable white sparkles reflecting light off of them.

Kanae wore a purple-tinted version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, as well as a piece of black fabric around her calves and zōri with pale straps. She also sported a pair of green and pink butterfly hairpins that she wore adorned either side of her head.

"But, just where did you find this boy? His hair looks peculiar, is it natural?" Shinobu glanced at the kid laying on a futon.

The kid appears to be about 10 to 12 years old based on his physical features. He has a silver hair reacher his shoulder with excellent facial features.

"I found him unconscious inside a forest, I passed by. His clothes were ragged, and some dirt was on him," Kanae replied

"Ugh..."

The two heard a groan and turned towards the boy who slowly opened his eyes, showing beautiful amber-coloured eyes.

The boy sat up and looked around in confusion before his gaze landed on the two sisters, "Who are you?! Wait, where am I?! No, how am I still here?" he exclaimed in confusion.

"Please calm down now. You are currently in the butterfly mansion, and I was the one who found you in a forest, unconscious." Kanae smiled at the boy, still confused about his situation.

While Shinobu just stared at the boy, staying silent.

"Butterfly Mansion of the demon slayer corps?" The boy muttered yet the two sisters heard it due to their enhanced senses.

"How do you know the demon slayer corps?!" Shinobu asked swiftly,

The boy was startled at Shinobu's sudden question. After a second, he frowned and stayed silent.

'What is happening here? I know I died due to that bastard.' The boy thought, 'Did I get reborn in another world? Huh?!'

"Hey, answer the question," Shinobu said

"Now now, don't push him further, Shinobu-chan." Kanae lightly reprimanded her sister.

"But nee-san...!" Shinobu retorted but shut her mouth after seeing the ominous smile of her sister.

"Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Kocho Kanae, what's your name?" Kanae smiled at the boy.

The boy stared back at her and after some time, he replied, "...Osamu Yozora"

"Wow, what a wonderful name. Osamu Yozora, ruler of the night sky, huh." Kanae praised

Yozora ignored her and turned his head away. He then lay back down in the futon and closed his eyes to think of the situation.

"You...!" Shinobu frowned at the disrespect of the boy.

Kanae just waved her hand at her and shook her head.

"Let's go first, Shinobu." Kanae signalled for her sister for them to leave. The two then left the room, leaving Yozora alone.

[System activation, complete! Hello, host, I am your system companion]

This sudden voice inside his head startled Yozora. But after a few moments, he calmed down.

'So, do you know why I'm here?'

[Yes, host. You are here due to your achievement of accumulating the highest good karma from the last 10 billion years.]

'I see... then tell me your functions.'

[The system's current functions are: Status Board, Inventory, Quest, and System Shop.

-The status board is as its name says, it shows the host's current status including name, race, bloodline, skills and abilities.

-Inventory is a space where the host can store items, it has an infinite amount of space and time is stopped inside so any food or things the host put inside will stay the same after you took it out. The only exception is that the host cannot put live things inside.

-Quest, the system will randomly generate a quest for the host, based on his current world and ability. But there may be times when a difficult quest will appear which is above the host's current abilities.

-System shop, is where the host can buy various things at an appropriate price. The system shops' products will depend on which world the host is in currently or the world he already visited. But there will be exceptions where the system shop will have some items from a different world from which the host currently resides with time duration and it will refresh after the time duration ends.

That's all of the system's current functions, host!]

'Hmm...'

[The currency of the shop is called Fear Points or FP for short. There are two ways the host can get FP, either by getting it through completing quests or by getting 'fear' from any beings. The more powerful the being which the host gets 'fear', the higher FP amount you can get.]

''Fear' huh, then based on my current circumstances, the best way on gaining FP is to become a known demon slayer that even demons and humans fear me.' Yozora thought so, 'System, is there any starter pack for me?'

[Yes host, there is a Beginner's Pack in your inventory. Would you like to open it?]

Yozora nodded, 'Alright open it.'

[Affirmative! Opening Beginner's Pack...the host got 1k FP, Some Clothes, and 1x Weapon Ticket (Normal)]

After getting the starter pack, Yozora browsed the shop for things he can buy and was surprised.

'Looks like becoming a demon slayer just became slightly easier.' he smiled
