Chapter 1: Lost in the Forest

I zipped my duffel bag, satisfied that I had packed everything I needed. I used my eye liner today, I needed to look less nerdy, I heard Mrs Thompson press her horn, this time longer.

I grabbed my jacket and switched off the lights, running out the front door. I hopped into the bus of three happy girls and four grumpy boys, we were finally able to drag them along.

" Good morning Mrs Thompson" I greeted, pecking her cheek.

" Hi there little fella" she said in santa's voice and I laughed.

" Hey girls' ' I hugged my three best friends one by one and fist bumped the boys.

I slipped into the free seat next to Hael, Hilda's twin brother. I have been friends with the twins for a very long time, we went to the same highschool and then they had to move to Florida, luckily I got into college here in Florida and we reunited. Mrs Thompson is their mom and she's driving us to go camping, we wanted to do something fun, take a break from school, it's our first break after a year in college.

" Hey " I nudged Hael with my elbow, noticing his usual depressed self.

" Hi Kim" he growled, removing his hood from his head.

" Are you ok?" I asked, tilting my head towards him.

" Nobody wants to go camping with four annoying girls" he grumbled and smacked his arm.

" C'mon it would be fun I promise" I said, running my hand through his messy hair making it messier.

I locked my hand in his and placed my head on his shoulders, shoving my duffel bag under my legs.

Haven: ( document) I sent some money to you, love you.

I smiled, putting away my phone. I love my sister so much.

" We are here, Kimberly!!!" Charlotte blurted, yanking my hand, waking me up from my short sleep.

I grabbed my duffel bag and my Jacket and ran out of the bus, Charlotte dragging my hand.

We stopped in front of a bushy path, the bus could no longer go. A sign post stabbed into the ground Camp Dilbert this way with an arrow pointing into the forest. Hilda urged her mom to go back because we weren't kids any more, she already did enough by dropping us here.

" Ok, I love you guys, be careful." She yelled before hopping into the bus.

" We love you too," the girl screamed before she drove away.

The boy's were grumpy, tired , they had to lift our tent and sleeping bags around. That's why they are boys Right. Charlotte clung onto her ginger haired boyfriend, Israel, I became friends with them because of Hilda. They were her friends before I came to Florida, Layla and Austin too, they didn't start dating until a few weeks ago so they still have the new couple burning love.

Then there's the rest of us, single, Hilda and her twin brother Hael, Jace and me. I spread out the map as we walk through the path,

" I can't read this, someone take this from me" I give up after twirling the map several times.

" Ughhhh…. Who knows how to read maps here?" Layla said, grabbing the map from me and they all grumble, the guys complaining about coming with us.

" Hey, " I said to Hael as he grabbed my bag carrying it with the two other bags he was carrying. He is carrying his sister's bag with him, he always takes care of her no matter how much they fight. " No, don't do that, you are already carrying so much, '' I said, dragging my bag from his hands.

" It's ok, the bags are not so heavy anyways" he said, swinging my duffel bag over his free shoulder and placing his arm across my neck.

We kept walking and walking, none of us understood the maps, it was clear before we got here but now it seems like the map was switched.

" Where the fuck are we going?" Jace asked, angrily throwing the tent bag he was holding on the floor.

" We have been walking for hours," Austin said, sitting on the grass below him.

We all stood and stared at Hilda like she was the leader of the group or something.

" No, you guys shouldn't put this on me again" she snapped, scanning the forest around us like she was looking for something. Yeah, we blamed her for being late to our last exams because she threw a party and had the right of us drunk and we slept past time.

" I'm tired" I said, sitting on the grass and they all did the same.

" You knew how to read the map before we got here?" Charlotte asked me.

" Yen yen yen…. Like it's my fault"

" Hilda is to be blamed for getting us lost again " Hael taunted.

" How!!" She yelled, grabbing a stone and throwing it at him. He groans and grabs his forehead, blood dripping down from the top of his eyebrow. " Omg, I'm sorry Hael, " she said, running towards him.

" Just go," he yelled, pushing her to the ground. I ran to help her up, helping her clean the dirt off her cargo pants.

" Can you all stop fighting and shifting blame like kids?" Israel yelled loud enough to wake up the sleeping bears. To be honest we aren't kids and we should handle this maturely, I, Hilda, Hael , Layla and Jace are nineteen the rest of them are twenty.

" I have an idea," Layla said and we all turned to look at her. " We can just build our tent somewhere around here and wait till we get reception to call an actual adult that can get us out of here.

" The only safe place in this forest is Camp Dilbert, " Hael said.

" Well we haven't seen anything dangerous since we have been roaming this forest aimlessly" Austin chimed in.

" Great Idea guys, now follow me" she said, striding towards a plain grass space.

" Here" Hael said to me with his bleeding forehead, bending over for me to climb.

"I'd walk" thank you Hael, I Said, not wanting to stress him more than I already have.

" c'mon, you are obviously weak" he stated, he isn't completely wrong.

I hopp on his back and he lifts me, our bags and himself towards the rest.

" Ouuu" I screamed, noticing a sting on my leg.
