Chapter 81. A Half-Forgotten Dream

Silva POV

Okay, so Yang just dragged me into a bar when she agreed to a date. Not that I mind but still, I don't think a bar is dating material. It's like telling your date you want them drunk enough to screw with them without them remembering the following day but whatever. Yang ordered herself a Strawberry Sunrise with some wings while I got a non-alcoholic Lime Margarita with some chili fries. Yang then asks me.

Yang: So what brings you to Patch? Because I would remember a silver-eyed Faunus my age.

I told her truthfully.

Silva: While this is not my first time on Patch island, it has been a while, and it left a big impression on me when I was younger. But anyway, to answer your question, I am here to set up a home here, then head back to Vale.

Yang finished off one of her wings then asked me, looking curious.

Yang: When you say set up a home, what do you mean?

I then explained to her.

Silva: Well, I was heading towards the plot of land I bought when I heard the commotion you and your sister were causing and decided to check it out. You know the rest from there, but back on point, I was heading to the plot of land to get started on building my new home away from home.

Yang looked at me incredulously and asked.

Yang: Are you rich or something?

I vaguely answer her.

Silva: I am just good at making money.

My answer stumped Yang. She then decided to change the topic.

Yang: So, since you had that gun of yours, does that mean you plan to become huntsmen?

I told her my plans.

Silva: While I have never attended a combat school, I plan to attend Beacon next year through their entrance exam.

She broke into a smile and said.

Yang: What a coincidence; I am attending Beacon myself next year, but you said you never participated in a combat school, so what did you do before coming to Patch?

I then told some of my travels, leaving out the gory bits but told her about the Grimm I fought against in my travels. She asked a few questions here and there about the places I have been to and the people I have met. Time flowed on, and I am now escorting Yang to her home. Yang then said to me as we stood in front of her house.

Yang: Thanks for the date. It was fun, and I hope you invite me to see the new house you will build.

I gave her a slight smile and replied.

Silva: Sure, it will only take me about a week to build.

She then said, not believing me in my statement.

Yang: Sure, and if you do, I will give you another date as a reward.

I smirked and replied.

Silva: Easiest second date I have ever got.

She rolled her eyes, still not believing me, and went into her house while saying.

Yang: Good night Silva, and see you around.

I shrugged, feeling amused, and got started on building my vacation home here on Patch. I can't wait to see the look on her face when she sees the place I am making finished by the end of this week.

Yang POV

(The following morning)

My alarm went off, and I hit the snooze a couple of times. I groggily get up and rub my eyes. I looked towards the stand in my room that held a katana that the guy who saved my life left behind. I stared at it for a few moments, recalling the dream I just had or rather the memory I vaguely remembered. It was the one where I took Ruby with me to go that place outside of town to find my mom, Raven.

What I found instead were Grimm as they closed in on us, they suddenly felled down, and a 5-year-old boy appeared and cut the creatures of Grimm down. I couldn't help but wonder why I am having this dream now of all times, but I put it aside and went to check up on my adorable little sister. I went to Ruby's room and found her where I expected her—sleeping on top of her workbench with various parts scattered about, probably from Silva's gun.

I couldn't help but wryly smile at my sister's weapon mania. I looked over the parts, and while I may not be as knowledgeable about weapons as Ruby, even I can tell that this gun is highly complicated with all the different machine parts I see. Ruby had a field day going over Silva's gun and taking it apart. Seeing her sleep with a happy smile almost made me feel guilty about waking her up, well, almost.

I cleaned her drooling mouth, then covered it with my hand, then pinched her nose to stop her breathing. A few moments later, she started struggling; then her eyes suddenly opened in panic and forced my hands away, then exclaimed.

Ruby: YANG! DON'T DO THAT!

I laughed at her reaction and told her.

Yang: Ruby, if I didn't do that, I have to spend all morning trying to wake you up. Anyways it looks like you had fun taking apart that guy's gun.

I pointed to Silva's gun, and my dear sister started to gush all over it.

Ruby: Oh, right, Yang, I have a million questions to ask that guy, like how he managed to create such a small battery pack? What sort of alloying are the coils made from? What do those odd symbols mean on the barrel of the gun?

A lot of the tech jargon went over my head. I grabbed my sister's motormouth that only shows up when she talks about weapons, and I told her.

Yang: Ruby, that guy's name is Silva, and he is currently building a house here on Patch. He gave me his address after our date so we can see him later if you want to.

Ruby nodded with excitement sparkling in her silver eyes, and suddenly, the door open with a slam. Dad then bellowed from the door.

Taiyang: YANG XIAO LONG! I TOLD YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO DATE, BOYS, WHEN YOUR THIRTY AND NOT A SECOND BEFORE!

I sighed at my dad's usual reaction when he hears me thinking about going on a date which is why I readily agreed to Silva's suggestion for a date to compensate him for his gun. It is too early in the morning for this nonsense, but it's just another day in my life. Well, at least I can start my day with a YANG.

( Queue crickets chirping)

Silva POV

I stretched my body as I finished laying down the concrete foundation for my home here on Patch Island. It was pretty easy to level the ground with my semblance Echo Tremor then used my summons to dig out the earth. Now I am taking a lunch break while waiting for the concrete to dry, which shouldn't take too long since it is made with my formula with volcanic ash mixed in, making it more durable than usual concrete.

I took out a grill and some hot dogs, plus a few other things for lunch. As I grilled, I heard the familiar voice of Yang.

Yang: Hey Silva, what's up.

I turned towards her and was about to answer her when suddenly my vision was dominated by the color red caused by Ruby asking questions rapidly.

Ruby: How did you create such a compact power source? Where did you study to make such a small rail gun? Can you show me how to make a rail gun? Do you have any other weapons I can look at?

As she continuously asked me questions without waiting for me to answer, Yang grabbed her by her red hood and pulled her back, then said.

Yang: Ruby, give the guy some space. Silva, sorry about Ruby here; she has wanted to hear your thoughts about the gun you made.

I gave her a light shrug, not minding Ruby's enthusiasm, and told the fellow silver-eyed warrior.

Silva: Ruby, if you have questions, ask away, but please one at a time.

I answered Ruby's questions as I grilled and offered both of them some hot dogs, which they took up my offer. As we chatted and ate our food, the concrete finally finished drying. I then summoned my newest custom Summon Worker Drones; it is a cross between an ant and bee that is the size of a house cat individually. They're a single summon that is also a group due to the hive mind I set up for them. I designed them with the expressed intent for construction and demolition work.

Both of their jaws dropped, seeing my summons work together on constructing the outer wall of my new home. Yang commented after seeing the speed of my summons work.

Yang: You weren't kidding when you said you would have your place set up by the end of the week.

I just smirked at her, and Ruby asked.

Ruby: Silva, is that your semblance?

I nodded and gave her my usual lie that my semblance is copying other semblances. Satisfied with my answer, she then asked.

Ruby: So can you copy mine and Yang's semblance?

I answered her briefly.

Silva: If I understand how it works well enough.

Ruby just nodded in understanding and watched my summons work, and Yang asked.

Yang: So when do you want your next date, Silva?

I shrugged then replied.

Silva: Whenever you want to, Yang.

She gave me a crooked smile and then asked.

Yang: So while your guys do the work on your place, want to spar to pass the time?

I smiled while answering her.

Silva: Why not, but we can't be too far from my summons; otherwise, they'll unsummon themselves without my aura supplying them with energy.

We moved a small distance away from the construction site, and Yang pushed her little sister in front of me then said.

Yang: Okay, Ruby, you get the first crack at him because you need the experience more than me. Oh, and no, Crescent Rose and Silva mind making it hand to hand sparing?

I gave her a light smile as I replied.

Silva: Sure.

Ruby groaned at not being allowed to use her weapon, but Yang pressed her into it because Ruby's glaring weakness is that if she does not have her weapon, Crescent Rose, in hand, she is practically defenseless. Ruby stood across from me with her guard lazily put up to protect herself and decided to be a bit rough with her to make her realize how crucial unarmed combat is for Huntsmen and Huntresses. Yang was playing the part of the referee.

Yang: Okay, when my scroll rings start fighting, got it.

Ruby and I both nodded. Moments later, Yang's scroll rang, and I charged at Ruby, which made her panic a little. I gave her a hard punch in the gut, making her lower her guard; I then grabbed her head with both hands pulling her down, then slammed my knee into her face, followed by a front kick knocking her away. Ruby was disoriented but quickly shook her head to shake it off as I waited for her. She glared at me, and I silently taunted her by making a come-at-me gesture.

She came at me and tried to punch me, which I dodged the first few. I grabble her left arm with my right hand, then kneed her solar plexus, followed with a left elbow strike to her temple, and tossed her aside, where she fell to the ground losing balance. I waited for her to get and suddenly used her semblance Petal Burst to send a flying kick my way, but unfortunately for her, I grabbed her ankle then used her momentum to slam her into the ground.

I waited for her to get up again, and as she did, she looked at me with a wary expression. She slowly circled me trying to find an opening she could take a vantage of, and I deliberately left my right side open to bait her. She took the bait and came at me, leaving her guard wide open, which was met with several quick jabs with my right fist, making her lose balance. I then grabbed her arm and pulled her towards me, then headbutted her knocking her down.

Ruby looked at me and said, sounding exasperated and a bit frustrated.

Ruby: I give up!

I extended my hand towards her to help her up, and Yang commented.

Yang: A bit brutal but not a bad match. My turn!

I then told Ruby before I got started with Yang, hoping to advise her a little.

Silva: Ruby, while fighting barehanded, might not be your strong suit. It is necessary for a Huntress because there will be times you will not have your weapon on you. On a side note, I think you should focus on learning kicks because that one kick you try to hit me with was more potent than your punches.

Ruby nodded and thanked me while complaining.

Ruby: Thanks, but was it necessary for you to be so rough?

I told her bluntly.

Silva: Yes, it was, as to drive my point home.

As Ruby grumbled a little, Yang was cracking her knuckles with a cavalier attitude and said.

Yang: Shall we get started.

I smirked at her and said.

Silva: How about we take this a bit more seriously than with Ruby, Yang.

She smiled at me and readied her weapon Ember Celica which gave me my answer, but I did not draw my backup weapons, Crescent Fangs, curved trench knives with a zig-zag pattern in the center of the blades. She raised an eyebrow at me questioningly but then shrugged, not caring about the fact I am taking her lightly. Ruby then started the match while cheering for her sister.

Ruby: BEGIN! Yang, kick his butt!

Yang immediately used her shotgun-gauntlets to launch herself at me and came at me with a right hook. I met her fist with my own; the meeting between our two knuckles last a moment, and I then opened my hand to grab her fist then threw her. As she tried to regain her balance, I charged at her and sent a flurry of punches at her, where she barely guarded against them.

I then sent a low kick to her to knock her off her feet, but she dodged it using Ember Celica to launch herself in the air and flip away from me. She then fired her long-range slug rounds at me, which I batted away bare-handed, making both she and Ruby looked at me with gabbing mouths. I then used my aura-powered Flash Step to close the distance and gave Yang a swift uppercut.

I then gave her an open palm strike to her exposed belly with my full strength, which sent her flying. Yang quickly stabilized herself and fired her buckshot rounds at me while in the air, giving her some additional air time. I focused my aura to better defend against Yang's shots at me. As she landed, I charged at her once more and gave her a front kick, followed by a spinning high kick. She blocked my high kick and punched me while firing a shotgun round, making me stagger a bit.

As she winded up for a hefty punch at me, I gave a quick series of jabs at her face and stomach. This unbalanced her for a moment, and I then gave her another uppercut which knocked her slightly into the air. I took a quick-drawl stance with an open blade hand and then slashed at her with my hand imitating a sword that knocked her back by several feet.

She looked at me while catching her breath, then smirked as her aura blazed from her semblance, Burn. She launched herself at me with Ember Celica. As she winded up for her semblance-enhanced punch, I clenched my fist and used Echo Tremor to clad my fist with vibrations. Our two fists met once more, but this time, a crater formed from the impact beneath our feet. Unfortunately for Yang, I overpowered her pushed her back with my fist, which made her land on her butt as her aura flickered.

This signals the end of our sparring match, and Ruby exclaimed.

Ruby: That... was... AWESOME!

I chuckled at her and went to Yang to offer her a hand. She took it then asked.

Yang: Where did you learn to punch like that!?

I smiled and told her.

Silva: I have a lot of practice.
