Chapter 2

*Two weeks later*

"Asami! How long are you going to hide here, school started a week ago, you have to move on!" her grandmothers nagged at a figure of a thin girl wrapped in her comforter. Her voice drained of energy, her beautiful appearance hollowed out due to grief.

"Mhm..." she muttered half-heartedly in response.

"God this girl..." her grandmother sighed in annoyance, worried for the girl who seemed to have lost all mental stability.

She knew her grandma was trying hard to be strong for both of our sakes but it wasn't that easy for her. It's only been so long since my mother's death and every day I think, why? Why would she commit suicide and leave me? Did she not love me enough? I blame myself then for not stopping her, for leaving without noticing that she wasn't well.

I knew she was pushing herself too far and yet I still told her to work harder. I guess I didn't know just how hard she was working. Maybe since the day we left dad she was having those thoughts but I was to busy wallowing in self-pity to notice that.

"Asami, you have a guest!" Her grandma called her out.

"A guest, who could it be? I don't even know anyone in this town.' As I was fixed myself up a knock on my door was heard.

"Come in." I replied still sitting in bed but a semi-presentavle appearance.

As the door slid open, chestnut-colored hair appeared before me with a familiar face.

The boy who had been my sole comfort on the day of my mother's funeral stood before me in a school uniform smiling at me.

"Hello, Yukino-san it's nice to see you again." His grin made the heart that she had thought died with her mother beat again. It was a strange feeling for the antisocial girl who was afraid of befriending people. She had been betrayed and hurt far to many times to give into this feeling.

"A-ah, hello, Kitamura-san." She tried to snap out of it and but her guard up against the boy that was surround with a warm glow. He grinned noticing her nervousness and awkward appearance.

"Hey Kitamura-san is too formal, you can just call me Fuji okay."

"Ahh yes, then you can call me Asami to if you'd like." The two sat near eachother in an unusual comfort. It was strange it felt so normal to be with him for Asami. Like they had known eachother for years. As the silence started to stretch Fuji recalled the purpose of his visit.

"Okay Asami, oh wait I almost forgot my reason for coming. I have a signed letter from our classmates to you. Did you know we are in the same class!"

"Eh a letter, we're in the same class?"

"Yep! We are all waiting for you to come to school Asami-chan, so cheer up okay."

"Fuji-kun... thank you so much!"

I cried tears of happiness as I was so touched by his words to me. For the first time since my mother's death, I smiled. He had once again comforted me.

"Eh, your crying, did I say something?!?"

"Fuji-kun! Starting tomorrow I will definitely come to school!"

"Well, that great and all Asami-chan but tomorrow is a weekend you know."

"E-eh, uh right."

"Hahaha, oh my God, Asami-chan your really cute, you know!"

"Stop teasing me Fuji-kun."

I blushed with a small smile covering my face as I looked at him smiling brightly. His laughter was so contagious it, it was like music to my ears. I don't know why my heart beats so fast just by being in his presence. Is this what they call love? Do I love Fuji-kun? I only just met him though and it hasn't even been that long since mom died. Maybe he is only nice to me out of pity. If it's really like that then what will I do?

"Asami-chan, I'll be waiting for you after the weekend okay, combatted!!" His sincere gaze that started at her eyes firmly shook her resolve to stay away. She gave in unknowingly and before she could stop herself her mouth had already uttered the words.

"Hai!"
