Felix - Just breathe
I SNEAK OVER to the group home with nothing more than just a little bag of food for them. A tall guy, taller than me, waves me in. I couldn't make the most of what he looks like, only his outline because it's so dark in here. It smells like a sewer and I can hear rodents frolicking in the echoing tunnels. "Where are we?" I whisper to the shadow.
"In the sewer tunnel underneath the group home. This way." He points to a three-way tunnel entrance and gears me, by tugging my belt, to the tunnel on the farthest right.
"Just breathe," he calmly whispers. "In out, in out."
I ketch myself repeating his words slowly and calmly, "In out, in out, in out." It feels as if I'm in a trance thinking about everything as I clutch on the food bag. He takes the food out of my hands to throw it.
"Why did you do that?" I whisper-shout.
What feels like hours, pass as we make it into the room. My eyes adjust to the thicket darkness as I see Tyreece frantically looking for Busk.
"What's happing--" A big bang sound interrupts me. It sounds like a gunshot.
"Duck and cover!" A man's voice booms in the air as we listen to him as the shooters break the windows. If I was nine, I'd be scared, but I'm not. I'm just asking myself as I hold onto his little brother, where's Busk?
"Where is he?" he chirps in my arms to act as a shield from the bullets. I hear people scream and grunt.
I shrug, "Don't know, but we'll find him, promise."
We crawl on the floor making sure that the shooters don't find us. I hear him panicking and scared. "I-I'm scared," he admits.
"Just breathe," I calmly say as the shadow man told me in the sewers so the rats couldn't see us. "In and out."
A while passes as we are guided to safety by the paramedics. I hide behind a bush as I see the shooters getting hauled in the police car. They have short brown hair, pasty white skin, and they're wearing all black. The police light flash, red white, and blue, on their filthy faces. Just breathe, I say to myself as I run home where I belong; safe with my family.
