Faced with an aggressive group, Xiao Ye remained unfazed, calmly asking, "What benefits are there to joining the student council?"
If Xiao Ye remembered correctly, when Vice-Dean Yunbing of Kunpeng Combat Academy invited him to join, she had offered the perks of being the student council president, which he declined.
Instead, Yunbing gave him a nominal position, something like an assistant to the dean.
In Xiao Ye's mind, the student council was just a bunch of people working tirelessly for the school with little to gain.
But now, it seemed the student council was different.
The student council president, with his dragon tattoo, smiled and said, "The student council has plenty of perks."
His attitude noticeably improved as he boasted to Xiao Ye and his friends:
"In the academy, the student council is the official student body, managing students with many conveniences."
"You also get to frequently interact with the two goddess deans."
Mentioning the goddess deans, his eyes lit up with admiration and infatuation.
The rest of the group, hearing "goddess deans," also showed longing and admiration.
At Kunpeng Combat Academy, the Kunpeng Twins, Dean Yunxi and Vice-Dean Yunbing, were the dream of every male student, noble goddesses to be admired but not touched.
Xiao Ye was surprised, "That's it?"
Just as he moved Yunbing's black scented sachet away from his nose, the overpowering smell of the Flying Lion Noodles hit him, so he quickly placed the sachet back, using its rich fragrance to dispel the odor.
Inhaling the subtle aroma, he felt much better.
The student council president, smug and proud, said, "Of course!"
"Joining the student council is all about those two things."
The student council members echoed, "Exactly! It's about power and getting close to the goddesses!"
Xiao Ye, smelling the fragrance, disdainfully replied:
"I thought the student council was some prestigious organization, but it's just this?"
"A bunch of self-important trash!"
"You really think you're an official part of the academy."
The student council members' faces darkened, almost losing their composure.
The president laughed; those words weren't enough to anger him.
Nangong Siyao and Cheng Bingxi, also disdainful, said, "Kicking people out just to eat, acting like bullies?"
"Staying ten years without graduating, relying on family connections to throw your weight around the academy."
"Send you to hunt beasts, and you'd wet your pants."
"Damn! That bitch has a foul mouth." The president snapped, the ten-year remark hitting a sore spot.
Others in the student council graduated in four years, but he alone, with some family ties to the goddess deans, stayed ten years.
With the president breaking down, the student council members exchanged looks.
Most were sophomores, a few juniors, but none were seniors. Senior members left for the ocean frontlines, battling sea beasts.
Essentially, the president was the only senior.
The president, face dark, was about to say something when Xiao Ye interrupted:
"No need to say more; we won't join such a lousy organization!"
Having finished their Flying Lion Noodles, Xiao Ye led Nangong Siyao and Cheng Bingxi out of the cafeteria to the broad road.
"Damn, so arrogant, even more than I was as a freshman! Let's catch up and teach him a lesson."
The president's words met with objections:
"Boss, that's not a good idea. Beating up top scorers right after school starts, what if we get blamed?"
"Yeah, we have some power to make their lives difficult, but a random beating is too much..."
"Right, kicking people out of the cafeteria is one thing, but they're top scorers."
The president's face turned black as coal, impatiently saying, "What are you afraid of? I'll take responsibility, I said so!"
"Go beat him up, quickly."
But no one moved; they looked at each other.
"You!" The president was furious but helpless.
"Boss, forget it. Let's just make their lives a bit troublesome; they'll join eventually."
"Yeah, one day at a time, they'll cave and join the council!"
The student council members advised.
The president sighed, his expression fierce, "Fine, we'll do it your way."
Once those three joined, he could find excuses to beat them up, and even if someone above noticed, they couldn't say much. In his ten years' experience, internal council matters rarely drew attention from above.
Finished speaking, they resumed eating, and the president's communicator rang. He answered.
President Cheng Yi's face changed; it was his father, Cheng Gang.
His father had always been strict, and Cheng Yi feared him a bit.
"Hey, Xiao Yi, I'm coming to your academy later." A gruff voice came through.
President Cheng Yi's pupils contracted, cautiously asking, "Dad, why are you coming?"
Could he be here to beat him up?
Or to push him to the sea beast battlefield or the examination department?
Cheng Yi didn't want any of that; he just wanted to be student council president at Kunpeng Academy.
"I'm meeting a friend!" Cheng Gang said excitedly, "When I arrive, I'll introduce you."
A friend? At Kunpeng Academy? A new powerhouse?
President Cheng Yi's eyes lit up. His father was a Supreme; his friend must be at least a Grandmaster?
Meeting a Grandmaster excited Cheng Yi, making him forget about Xiao Ye.
Grandmaster, Great Grandmaster, Master, Grandmaster, Supreme. Each major realm has ten sub-levels.
"Sure, Dad, let me know when you arrive, and I'll be right over!" Cheng Yi was thrilled.
Cheng Gang laughed, "Alright! But you'll have to make a good impression; he's a good brother of mine!"
Cheng Yi assured, "No problem!"
After hanging up, Cheng Yi boasted to the student council:
"I'm going to meet a Grandmaster later. You guys eat; I'm going to change and prepare a gift."
The council was envious, exclaiming:
"Wow, a Grandmaster? Amazing!"
"No wonder he's the Supreme's son; the boss is powerful!"
"Boss, introduce us too!"
President Cheng Yi dusted off his clothes and left the cafeteria under envious gazes.
Meanwhile, Xiao Ye, wandering the academy with the beautiful Nangong Siyao and Cheng Bingxi, received a call from Diamond Supreme Cheng Gang.
A warm, excited voice said:
"Young man, I'm here!"
