After finishing her breakfast, Wen Jiexi returned to her room. Despite the episode she just had with Zhong Liwen, her mood was not in the least bit affected and she began stretching leisurely.
"Dango, go outside and stand guard. Report back to me if you see Sister Su."
"Why? You're just completing the missions, there's no need to hide." Dango floated lazily in the air and replied in a disapproving tone. However, he was immediately defeated by Wen Jiexi's calm (intimidating) gaze but still haggled for a compromise,
"Fine, but I want five bars of chocolate for my hard work!"
"Deal." Wen Jiexi replied calmly. The five bars of chocolate would only cost her 50 points, so it was a deal that benefitted her greatly.
With Dango hovering outside the door, Wen Jiexi began to do her stretching in earnest. Dango shouted out the contents of the mission while standing guard at the door and she started completing missions as quickly as she could.
She learned her lesson from last time and now followed Su Chenyu's 'teachings' meticulously by resting for about ten minutes between missions. First, this is so she can prevent any muscle soreness or tightness. Second, no muscle fatigue meant no 'heavenly' massages and third….well….to get rid of her guilty conscience of going behind a certain goddess' back….
"Whew….how refreshing…." Wiping her sweat with a towel, Wen Jiexi opened the minifridge and grabbed a bottle of juice. She downed the entire bottle and an icy cold feeling spread over her body.
If it was like before, I would've coughed like crazy because the cold would've hurt my sick body. Nut now I only feel refreshed all over! She thought happily. Everything was going great today, and she had not wasted this day off as the golden mission was only a silver away from being done.
"Jiexi, Jiexi, she's back, she's back!" At this moment, Dango flew through the door and yelled frantically at Wen Jiexi.
"Ah? Oh!" Wen Jiexi froze for a second but immediately recovered and dove to the side. She quickly grabbed a change of clothes and then rushed into the bathroom. Before closing the door, she poked out her head to make sure she didn't leave anything behind that would incriminate her and then hurriedly closed the door after seeing the coast was clear.
Just as she turned on the water, the sound of a door closing and opening could be heard. Straining her ears, she heard no noise from the person who came in. Only after that did she increase the amount of water flowing in the tub and began undressing so she could take a bath.
Su Chenyu threw the papers in her hand away and looked around the empty room. Everything was quiet except for the tranquil sounds of water splashing coming from the bathroom. Is she taking a bath?
She looked around the room and found that almost nothing was moved and it even seems that the little sheep had deliberately cleaned up the room. Su Chenyu could almost smell the guilty conscience but she could only shake her head helplessly. She had expected that Wen Jiexi would not obediently obey her words.
She stopped near Wen Jiexi's bed and stared at the sheets neatly lying on top. She recalled the unique scent she had smelled, a light smell that made her feel warm and at ease. It really made her want to roll around in the bed to soak up that scent.
And so she did just that. She unceremoniously laid on the bed, a little amused by her rather childish impulse. Then suddenly she heard the sounds of water in the bathroom suddenly increase. She raised her eyebrows. Such an obvious change meant that Wen Jiexi knew she was back.
The corners of her mouth lifted and her mood soared. The little sheep was actually paying special attention to her.
If someone was here to witness the current scene, they would be stunned and amazed. A rare and genuine smile spread across Su Chenyu's face but unfortunately the only person who could see such a rare scene was hiding in the bath.
After lying there for a while, Su Chenyu got up. She leaned down and carefully smoothed out the bed so that not a single trace of her presence would be left. After making sure that there were no wrinkles on the sheets, she went to sit on her own bed and took out her phone. She slid to the trending searches section and frowned slightly.
#Xingle's newcomers are so arrogant! They actually scolded a veteran actor and made her cry!##
The poster was the same person and there was only one video this time. There were only two protagonists that faced each other and their features were blurred out with mosaics. However, from this angle, some of the facial features could be seen and one could tell that the video was secretly shot.
There was no sound in the film and so it was entirely just visuals. One of the protagonists seems to have their head lowered and was crying while wiping their tears but the other person treated them coldly and did not make any moves to comfort them. There was no sound, but the tension in the video was very serious that people could easily make out what was happening.
OP (Original Poster): I never expected the crew that is already so bad to have artists that are of this low quality. Is this because Xingle is a big company and they think they can do whatever they want? Is there any god left in this world?! A newcomer can even dare to scold their seniors and make them cry? How have the heavens not smite them yet?
Comment #1: Damn, I heard that Xingle is a major company but how come in a blink of an eye they became so dirty? Everything's such a mess that it makes me speechless.
Comment #2: I agree with the comment above. It seems that Xingle's recruitment bar is getting lower and lower every day. They even let someone who can't even respect their seniors into the showbiz. I really don't understand the entertainment industry nowadays.
Comment #3: The top two searches right now are all about Xingle, but why haven't Xingle come out yet? Even Guanghua has made their move, yet why is Xingle still shying away from the fight?!
Scrolling down a bit more, one can find that people have dug up the identities of both protagonists. One was Zhong Liwen and the other was Wen Jiexi. Zhong Liwen's Weibo was once again maxed out with comments that were filled with words of comfort. On the other hand, Wen Jiexi's Weibo was the complete opposite as the curses and insults were rather unpleasant and got worse as time went on. As she read the comments, Su Chenyu's face became colder and colder.
Ka-da….
The bathroom door opened and Wen Jiexi waved at Su Chenyu:
"Sister Su, you're back….ah…." Wen Jiexi noticed the dark expression and looked around warily. What's going on? Did I mess up somewhere?
"You ran into Zhong Liwen today." Su Chenyu raised his head and looked at Wen Jiexi.
"Uh, yes. When I went downstairs to get breakfast, she blocked the corridor and then told me I should go help out Ye Xinxin. She said Ye Xinxin is a kind-hearted girl and made it seem everything was my fault. As if she doesn't exactly know who's actually responsible for Ye Xinxin's fate. Don't worry, I contacted Sister Xue immediately after I separated from her." Thinking about her encounter with Zhong Liwen this morning, she complained and whined bitterly to Su Chenyu.
"You should take a look at your Weibo. It seems that you were secretly being filmed. Although I don't know if it was Xhong Liwen who's responsible for the filming, it definitely has something to do with her." Su Chenyu said and pointed at Wen Jiexi's phone.
"Heh…" Wen Jiexi already knew that Zhong Liwenwas filming their interaction secretly and she had told Sister Xue about it too. However, when she was the comments and posts on Weibo, she laughed derisively,
"This is truly too shameless. They deliberately distorted the truth."
"They probably used an incredibly small camera otherwise they would've been able to pick up the sound if they used a phone or something. But without the sound, it allows the person to fabricate any story they want." Su Chenyu said coldly.
"Don't worry, Sister Su. After what happened yesterday, I had a tape recorder in my pocket at all times. So of course I have everything recorded right here." Wen Jiexi smiled and pulled the small tape recorder from her pocket and put it on to the table. After pressing the play button, the sounds of the conversation from this morning played out.
"You should probably give it to Sister Xue and let her give it to the company." Su Chenyu glanced curiously at the tape recorder. She never expected that the little sheep was smarter than she thought. At the very least, Zhong Liwen would've never had imagined that Jiexi was actually recording their conversation.
"Then should I leave everything up to the company like before?" Wen Jiexi asked hesitantly.
"Yes. After all, this did happen because of the original accident. Therefore, the company will see this as an extension to the main problem and handle it as well. Also, you shouldn't care about what those people are saying because they are mainly trolls or followers of another artist. In the entertainment industry, these things are common. You shouldn't waste your time reading their comments." Su Chenyu patted Wen Jiexi's head and then picked up the phone and stood up.
"I'm going to make a call outside."
Wen Jiexi watched as Su Chenyu opened the balcony screen door and walked out, closing the door soundly behind her. The sun was setting and now SU Chenyu was covered in a warm glow of orange light. It was such a beautiful image that she stood there for several seconds before lowering her blushing face to read a sudden text message. It was from Li Lingmeng.
"Little Xi! Ignore those haters! Those people are just too much! I just went to see Sister Xue and she said that the company will take care of it. They'll find the owner of the account and then bring them to justice. Although the internet has made it easy for someone to post anonymously this is still considered a crime of defamation and they could get charged and fined."
"I understand. Don't worry, I'm fine, I won't read any of that stuff."
After Li Lingmeng was a bunch of text messages from Chu Heling, Wen Ting, Yan Haocheng, Lan Yuyan, and a few other artists she got along with. They all sent their condolences and advice, causing Wen Jiexi's heart to feel warm. After thinking about the whole matter, she realized everything was because of Verity's hurtful words. Wen Jiexi felt that someone like this who could write such falsehoods would definitely not be a good person. Don't they know that words like these could ruin someone's life? She looked through the previous posts from this account and found that every single one was criticizing someone, exposing someones' private life and then claiming that what people did was either wrong or right. These kinds of people were the most annoying.
Feeling rather helpless, Wen Jiexi understood that she was now one of those people who was being targeted. Naturally, she now had strong opinions on this matter.
She took a deep breath and then opened her Weibo. She blinked. The state of her Weibo was not as tragic as it seemed as she actually gained a lot of fans.
Comment #1: This girl looks beautiful and pure, but I never expected her to be such a snake-hearted and terrible person! She is no little sheep, more like a little viper!
Comment #2: Hey, to the comment above me, fu*k off! What can a silent video prove? This is just spreading false rumors, stop trying to stir up drama!
Comment #3: To the person above me, you're just a crazy fan! Some people are so bad and yet you are so blind like you've purposely blindfolded yourself! Sure enough, the fans always take after their artists!
Comment #4: That's exactly true! Wen Jiexi, this little bit*h should just get run out of showbiz!
Comment #5: Hey now, don't go too far. This person and I used to be classmates and she is a really nice girl. You have never even interacted with her before and can only shout and curse here. Hmph, scum like you are always unreasonable.
Comment #6: Wow, the comment above me, so what if you've used to be her classmate. What if I said I was her classmate in kindergarten? And then kept saying she's great? However, does that actually make her a good person?
Her Weibo was so noisy that some people even posted pictures of her from elementary school all the way to university. Everything she did was dug out and posted. Except for information on her families like her brother, father, and mother, her entire life was laid out online. Other than being a sick child, it seems that she has never done anything bad. And after getting this healthy body, she had often helped others out of both her own volition or because of the missions told her to.
However, this part of her past was ignored and people mocked her previously poor health instead and the noisy comments got even more intense.
Comment #289: Her body used to be in poor health and she painstakingly got better and even dared to enter the showbiz business! She's so great!
Comment #290: Hmph, if I had a daughter who finally got better but then started doing something dangerous like acting instead of staying at home, I would've to beat her up! What kind of unfilial daughter is this!
Comment #291: Hey, mentally retarded scum above me, this person is proudly pursuing their dreams unlike people like you! Stop crapping over their efforts, you hateful troll!
Comment #292: I agree! Get out of here scum! Little sheep, ignore these idiots! Jump into this sister's arms! This sister will protect you from the tigers!
There were countless more comments like these and Wen Jiexi could only sigh and turn off her phone. Her dreams and her parent's worries did come in conflict but they had supported her in the end. But why were they still attacking her! Thinking like this, she pouted a little.
Outside, Su Chenyu held her phone a good arm's length away as the person on the other side roared.
"Those bastards! I must find them and then kill them!"
"It's useless to rant to me and even more useless for you to get angry. Tell me, how are you going to solve this?" Su Chenyu asked lightly.
"Eh? Do you not feel angry too? Do you not care about their baseless words? Why are you acting so weird today?" Wen Linshu was taken aback and asked in surprise.
"These past few days I've been getting along well with Little Xi. Did you not know that she and I are sharing the same room?" Su Chenyu raised her eyebrows, unaware that her voice was taking on the tone of a person showing off.
"What? You and….y-you and my Little Xi in the same room! Goddammit…" Wenling Shu almost jumped up and slapped the table, but thinking about how the person on the other side would just ignore his outburst, he restrained himself. He could only grit his teeth and say some curse words to express his dissatisfaction. When he was younger, he would hug his soft and sweet little sister to sleep (when they were younger his parents were busy working and he was the only one who could look after her so his parents thought it would be more convenient if they shared a room.) Now that she was older, he couldn't even sleep in the same room as her. Wuwuwu….I'm so envious.
"That's not the point right now. I asked you how you're going to solve this." Having both the upper hand and a sense of superiority, she only cared about this mess and making the little fellow wouldn't get swept up in this.
"Of course I'm going to give Zhong Liwen a good meal. Before it was only porridge and some side dishes but this time I will give her a full banquet that she can't refuse! Don't you worry, what I have in my hands will be enough to keep her in prison for decades! Drugging people, unlawful intimidation, spending money to buy illegal contrabands, she really has done everything. For this woman to climb so high, she has exhausted so many means! I really don't know how those dear friends of hers would say to her when they see all this." Wen Linshu laughed mockingly as he looked down at the data in his hands.
So maybe Zhong Liwen wasn't the dirtiest among the entertainment circle, but she has used the most diverse methods. Shaking the reports in his hands, he stood up and looked outside at the traffic below.
"But I was thinking, aren't we letting her off easy if we only get her locked up for a few years? Won't it be best if she experiences the 'baptism' of public criticism? It will be impossible for someone like her to commit suicide because of this but she might have to flee to another country or something."
"Just let her rot in prison." Su Chenyu whispered softly as she leaned against the railing. "Don't you worry, she won't have a fun time in prison, trust me."
"Huh? Alright, I'll listen to you. You can do anything, I just don't want her to make any more trouble. My eyes hurt too much to have her keep showing up before me." Wen Linshu shrugged. Although he wanted to teach Zhong Liwen a thorough lesson, he acquiesced. The firmness of Su Chenyu's tone let him know she meant business. He couldn't ask Su Chneyu why she was so sure Zhong Liwen would be miserable in prison but well….if the punishment is too light, he didn't mind adding on some extra misery later on.
"And what about Verity? Are you not looking for him as well? From what I can remember he has exposed a lot of Xingle's secrets before, right?" Su Chenyu asked.
"Indeed. Before I had not paid attention to such a small fry but he has touched my bottom line this time. I have people under me who are tracking him and I am confident they will find him soon. If I remember correctly, this Verity is an expert hacker and it will be difficult to find tracers of him. However, not anymore. Most of the other companies want things to calm down, much less Shangri and Guanghua, two major companies that all have ties to me. They might actually be grateful to him for now since any type of fame, even infamy, is good for business, right?" Wen Linshu began to pace back and forth.
"There is no shortage of expert hackers and other computer experts in our company. Let's see if he can escape the combined might of hundreds of them. I even put out an offer. I told those computer geeks that whoever finds him first will receive 100,000 yuan for their year-end bonus. It seems to have worked as they are now full of energy."
"That's rather generous."
"What? Do you have an opinion on this matter?" Wen Linshu said with a cold snort.
"Of course not. Work hard, I'm leaving first."
"Hmph, make sure to take good care of my Little Xi.' Wen Jiexi said with pouted lips. Later he would learn that he would regret this sentence for the rest of his life for he had given away his little sister with this casual sentence…..
"Of course." After saying so, Su Chenyu hung up. Take good care of Little Xi? Of course, I'm going to take good care of her. I will kidnap her if I have to. She turned off her phone and walked back into the room. The moment she walked in, she found a pitiful Wen Jiexi rolling on the bed while holding a pillow.
"What's the matter? Are you sad?" Su Chenyu walked over and directly sat on the other's bed without asking.
"Bo…it's just that some people have dug out my past and now they're saying I should've stayed at home and continued to take care of my health. Hmph, why do they care what I do!" Wen Jiexi pouted and looked up pitifully as she rolled over to Su Chenyu's side. Her expression was a lot like Su Chenyu's dog, Big White, who also liked to act silly and throw tantrums like a baby.
So, without thinking, Su Chenyu reached out her hand and rubbed Wen Jiexi's head.
"Wu…." Wen Jiexi shook her head, but the hand on her head did not stop. She could only compromise and stay still. This made Su Chenyu feel amused.
"That's just what those scum on the internet do. If they can't find anything to attack you with, they instead poke at your most sensitive spots." Su Chenyu happily patted Wen Jiexi and moved closer. Her other hand moved down to rub Wen Jiexi's bath soothingly. How should one put it….it was like she was petting a dog….
"By the way, Sister Su, when will you finish filming your drama?" Wen Jiexi raised her head and asked.
"We're close to the end, we only have a few more closing scenes left. They estimate we should be done in a week." Su Chenyu replied.
"Oh…" Wen Jiexi pursed her lips, feeling an inexplicable sense of loss. She was running out of time that she could spend with Su Chenyu.
"I believe your film should take another month, so work hard." Su Chenyu helplessly patted the back of the person who now had their face buried in their blankets.
"After we finish filming this drama... I have to go back to school and catch up on my studies. I told my mother that I would keep my grades up if I can continue being an actress. Otherwise, I'll have to wait until graduation to work in the industry. My previous ranking was in the top three for my year. From what Little Meng sent me, I might have to hit the books seriously. After this filming is done, I will only have one month left before the exam." Wen Jiexi said helplessly, feeling that being a student wasn't as fun as it was before.
"Good luck. Since this is the path you choose for yourself, you must at least reassure your parents, don't make them worry. Studies are important in the entertainment circle as well. Many people who have not graduated from college are often made fun of by the trolls online." Su Chenyu stood up and took out two cans of juice from the fridge, handing one to Wen Jiexi.
"For as long as you stay in the entertainment circle, your slightest insufficiencies will stay with you forever."
"So serious?!" Wen sat up and accepted the drink.
"Of course. Make sure to work hard." Su Chenyu popped the tab on the can and drank a sip of the juice.
"Does Sister Su have anything planned after this film?" Wen Jiexi asked. Maybe she might be able to meet up with Su Chenyu afterward!
"Nothing yet, but I will probably pick up something after I go back." Su Chenyu considered the question and answered.
"Oh…." Wen Jiexi's calculations fell through and she felt disheartened. She really wanted to roll around again in her frustration.
"Don't you have my phone number? If you need anything from me, you can just call me." Su Chenyu looked at the mopey face before her and couldn't resist reaching out and squeezing Wen Jiexi's cheek.
"Ahaha…." Hearing Su Chenyu say this, Wen Jiexi laughed sheepishly. She could never tell Su Chenyu that she had thought that the number Su Chenyu had given her was fake and had not taken the little piece of paper to heart at all. After all, even if she did save Su Chenyu, would a big star actually give a random stranger their number? She didn't know where the piece of paper went either and for all, she knew it could be in a trash can by now. She never thought it was Su Chenyu's real number! Now she felt deep regret for losing it…..
"I can give you my number again. But you won't get another chance after this." Su Chenyu said gently, seeing through Wen Jeixi's thoughts.
"Ok!" Wen Jiexi happily exchanged phone numbers with Su Chenyu, even Wechant and then said confidently,
"I will definitely not lose it this time!"
Su Chenyu watched from the corners of her eyes to see Wen Jiexi assign her as 'Pretty and gentle Sister Su' in her contacts. She nodded happily and reached out to pat Wen Jiexi's head again.
