Chapter 18: A hangover is a scary thing?!!

The next day, neither Wen Jiexi nor Li Lingmeng had classes in the morning. However, when the clock struck five, Wen Jiexi's eyes snapped open. She changed her clothes and went out for a light jog. Since some of the blue missions were set at a fixed amount every day such as jogging, which was only once a day, Wen Jiexi always made sure to accept and complete them in the morning.

She returned to the dorms around eight and feeling that it was too early, she didn't wake Li Lingmeng. Then he lifted dumbbells for another hour before taking a shower. She made herself some porridge for breakfast with some meat and vegetables. After eating two bowls, she left the rest for Li Lingmeng.

Done with her morning routine, she turned on her computer and looked up HIOC. It was indeed a medium-sized sports company. Although it couldn't be compared to foreign brands or some of the more famous brands in China, there sports equipment, clothing, shoes, towels, and everything else is considered decent. They also had many reviews praising their products or their good customer service.

All in all, it could be considered a good company. She also noticed there were several hiring notices and their deadline to apply was approaching. No wonder the lady from yesterday was so excited when she agreed, it was understandable, but….for a company like this, shouldn't there have been many job applications already? Why did they want her? However, since she already agreed to their invitation, she decided she would ask them in person.

And Wen Jiexi liked the new line of products from HIOC. Although the design and styles were simple and light, it wasn't plain at all.

"Jiexi, why are you looking at these things? Are you not going to watch the dramas anymore?" Dango floated beside Wen Jiexi and saw that she was looking at shoes, sporting goods, etc. They were things that Dango had no interest in, but the dramas, on the other hand, were fun to watch. In Dango's opinion, although humans are fragile and can be crushed like a bug in an instant, they were very creative.

"Don't you remember that a certain someone called me yesterday? They called because they wanted to talk about these things and so I felt that I needed to understand it first before I go. Otherwise, every time they open their mouth I will have no idea what's going on."

"Hmmm….ah, you mean that schizophrenic woman from yesterday."

Pffft- Wen Jiexi almost spit out the water she was drinking. Schizophrenic woman? Eh….one moment she was careful and the next she was over the moon, could this be considered schizophrenic? Actually now that Wen Jiexi thought about it….cough cough

Lin Youjia: QAQ! I just didn't want to scare you in the beginning and I got a little bit excited afterward. How is that being schizophrenic?!!

"Oooof…" Suddenly a low groan sounded out. Wen Jiexi turned to see Li Lingmeng holding her head in her hands and frowning. It seems no matter how good alcohol tastes if you drink too much, it was inevitable to get a headache the next day. A hangover was something nobody can escape from.

"You're awake? Here, drink some water." Wen Jiexi poured some warm water into a cup and walked over to Li Lingmeng.

"Wuuuu….ah, my head hurts…" Li Lingmeng complained.

"Well, who told you to drink so much." Wen Jiexi said helplessly.

"Hehe, can you blame me for being a kind hostess?" Li Lingmeng scratched her head embarrassedly and gratefully accepted the glass of water from Wen Jiexi.

"Are you going to take a shower? Yesterday I wiped you down but I still think you should take a shower." Wen Jiexi could still smell the heavy stench of alcohol coming from Li Lingmeng and advised.

"Of course I'm going to take a shower." Li Lingmeng nodded violently, then grabbed a set of clothes from the closet…growl….her stomach let out an embarrassing sound. She then looked towards the table to see a bowl of porridge on it.

"Oh, Little Xi you made porridge! Wait for me and I'll join you shortly."

"This bowl is for you. Take your time, no need to rush." Wen Jiexi smiled at Li Lingmeng who was still so energetic even during a hangover. She picked up the bowl and went to reheat it. She wondered about the other people who, like Li Lingmeng, drank to their heart's content. One had to wonder if they were like Li Lingmeng right now, rushing around violently and bumping into everything.

After Li Lingmeng finished breakfast, it was already eleven. Since it was so late, Li Lingmeng wouldn't be able to eat anything for lunch even if she made something. So they decided to meet each other later for dinner after their classes.

As a result of last night's party, at least three floors' worth of people did not attend class. However, most of the girls were still okay and almost every one of them still made it. After all, most of the drinkers were male and more than half of them were absent….and the last few who arrived were in a sorry state. They still had the messy bed hair, the dark circles under their eyes, and of course the heavy stench of alcohol on their bodies. One could guess that these people probably just woke up and merely threw on a sweater before hurrying to class.

When the professor saw this, her face darkened. The credits for this course were very important for their major and so the teacher paid close attention to the attendance. Wen Jiexi silently prayed for those classmates of hers who was probably still lying unconsciously in their dorms. She hoped that they didn't fail this course because of their drunken mistakes.

On the other hand, Li Lingmeng felt quite guilty. Not everyone is like her who had a roommate that was willing to take care of them. She believed that even if she slept until twelve, Wen Jiexi would slap her awake and get her to class on time. However….for those whose both roommates were drunk…ugh…she knew she shouldn't have listened to those people who told her that drinks are a must at a party. Now if they failed because they were passed out, wouldn't she be held responsible?"

However, those who did not show up to class didn't care and even typed in their group chat,

"Is the Exterminator shooting daggers with her eyes right now? I'm still hungover so if I see her face right now I might just puke."

The Exterminator was what the students called their professor in private.

"Hahaha, I second that. It's so much better to be lying in bed! I see her face every day and even without drinking I feel like throwing up."

"As long as you do well on the next test she will overlook your laziness this time."

Seeing the last message, Li Lingmeng's expression brightened and she returned to her usual self.

In the cafeteria, they ordered two bowls of white rice, meat and one bowl of soup and sat in the corner. They didn't order much because they still wanted to go out to eat dinner later.

Wen Jiexi ate in small bites and then told Li Lingmeng about the phone conversation yesterday. She told her about the company's information and hoped that she would come along with her to the appointment.

"Huh? So people from HIOC called you and said they wanted you to help them shoot some commercials?" Li Lingmeng's eyes widened. Whether it was real or not, for such an opportunity to sudden fall from the sky was a little too surreal.

"Yeah, apparently it's because they saw me at yesterday's basketball game." Wen Jiexi smiled bitterly.

"Well, what are you hesitating for? And don't worry, I will accompany you and act as your agent." Li Lingmeng said boldly and patted her chest confidently.

"Hahaha, is this how one becomes an agent? Don't you have to start by being an assistant first?" Wen Jiexi stuffed a mouthful of vegetables into her mouth and shook her head helplessly.

"Hey, the legendary Agent Wang also started directly as an agent. I want to be just like her." Li Lingmeng muttered.

"Yes, but it's because she had the ability and skills to do so. It is very difficult to manage and work your way through the entertainment circle without at least two to three years of backbreaking work." Wen Jiexi didn't want to splash cold water onto her friend's dream, but not everyone can become a legend. If becoming a legend was easy, should one even be called a legend? Then it wouldn't be legendary, it would be just normal.

"Hmmm…" Li Lingmeng bit her chopsticks, a sad expression on her face. She waved her hand,

"Forget it, I'm not even contracted with a company. However, Little Xi if you really want to step into the entertainment circle, at least let me be your assistant. Maybe in the future when you get famous, I can borrow some of your fame." Saying this, her face was full of longing and she looked over at Wen Jiexi like she was looking at a future superstar.

"How can one become famous that easily as you said? I just wanted to try it out, I haven't decided if I want to devote myself to it yet." Wen Jiexi filled a bowl up with the soup and set it in front of Li Lingmeng.

"Have some confidence in yourself! Since this opportunity has already fallen into your lap, as long as you grasp this opportunity you'll be good. A commercial isn't like a poster or magazine. It's on TV which means everyone will see it and it'll be good exposure for you." Li Lingmeng analyzed, fullying immersing herself into the role of Wen Jiexi's assistant. Wen Jiexi didn't know whether to laugh or cry and said,

"Alright, alright, I will listen to Little Meng. I will do my best, but I must trouble you to accompany me first."

"Ok, ok, I will help you."

Later that night…

The Blue Coffee cafe had a quiet environment, but its design was nice. They played pleasant music and had several small private rooms. The reason it was so quiet here was that the walls were soundproofed, so nobody's conversation could be overheard.

The other party said they booked room three for the appointment and so Wen Jiexi and Li Lingmeng told the waiter this information and he led them to their room. Inside, there was no one there yet so they decided to order something first. After all, it was embarrassing to sit inside a shop without ordering anything.

Wen Jiexi glanced at the menu and ordered a cup of hot milk with a slice of Schwarzwald cake. Li Lingmeng went for the cappuccino and chocolate waffle meal. Once the waiter walked out, Wen Jiexi looked over at Li Lingmeng,

"Little Meng, I remember you ate two full sets of Shanghai dumplings. How are you still able to order an entire chocolate waffle meal?"

"Hahaha, Little Xi you don't understand, but I have two stomachs. One for sweets and one for other food, so they don't affect each other at all." Li Lingmeng laughed.

"Yes, yes, everything you say is right."

"Heng, how half-hearted."

The waiter walked in with their food, followed by two unfamiliar women. One looked stable and calm, wearing a pair of glasses with a slight crease between her eyebrows. The other woman beside her looked only a few years older than Wen Jiexi. Holding a leather briefcase, the younger woman seemed to be grumbling about something to the other woman. However, once she saw the two sitting at the table, her eyes lit up and she hurried towards them,

"Hello, I am a team member from HIOC, Lin Youjia and this is our team leader, Zhao Ya."

"Hello, I believe this is the first time we've met. I am Wen Jiexi and this is my friend, Li Lingmeng." Listening to this woman's words, she believed that they were directed at her and smiled, stood up and introduced herself.

"Sorry to have kept you waiting." Zhao Ya stepped forward.

"Don't worry, we just arrived ourselves. Would you two like to get something before we start?" Li Lingmeng handed a menu to them.

"Hot chocolate and cheesecake for me."

"One latte for me."

They waited for the waiter to carry in their food and then did they begin the negotiation.
