Chapter 215: An Easy Job

Upon hearing that nearly everyone on the island had superpowers, Sara was taken aback. She felt that as an ordinary person, it wouldn't be easy to fulfill her duties.

After landing the spaceship, Sonia led Sara toward the temple.

"Who is this woman?"

"Is Sonia personally escorting her?"

"I'm not sure; maybe she's Kassadin's new housekeeper?"

"Unlikely; she looks quite weak."

Members of the Void Church gathered to watch as Sonia brought someone with her.

Feeling the curious gazes from those around her, Sara anxiously clutched Sonia's arm.

It was nerve-wracking to be an ordinary person in a place full of superpowered individuals.

"Don't worry; they're just curious about you and won't harm you," Sonia reassured her gently, sensing Sara's anxiety.

Hearing this from Sonia calmed Sara's nerves a little.

As they approached the temple, they were met by over two hundred members of the Void Church who had gathered to witness the event.

After all, it had been a while since they last saw Sonia leading someone, and the last time was with the wealthy Tony Stark.

While Tony's abilities were noteworthy, his contributions to the Void Island were undeniable.

"The Void Church now has over five hundred members, each with extraordinary abilities and the capability to venture into outer space," Sonia began, addressing the crowd.

"To better manage the Void Island and keep track of everyone's whereabouts, we'll need to record who comes and goes. This way, if difficulties arise, we can respond quickly."

"When you leave or return to the island, simply inform Sara about where you're headed and the estimated time of your absence."

"This is merely a record, not a permission slip, so you aren't required to seek approval to come and go freely."

"This isn't a doctrine or a law; it's not mandatory, and you can choose to adhere to it or not."

"This is Sara, and she'll be responsible for recording the comings and goings on the island."

"If you choose to comply, just give her a heads-up when you leave or return."

"Just a heads-up?"

"Only when leaving or coming back? That doesn't sound like much."

"It's no big deal compared to the small task of saying hello."

"I'm more curious about who this beauty is."

The members of the Void Church listened to Sonia and seemed to have no objections to her proposal.

Since it was merely a minor addition to their already free movement, it didn't feel restrictive.

"This rule will take effect a week from now, so please relay this information to the other members of the Void Church," Sonia instructed, satisfied with their response.

Afterward, Sonia led Sara away to another villa where Kassadin was not present.

Since the role of recorder would be permanent, they needed to select a suitable location to build a luxurious office for her.

If Sara passed the trial, she would become accustomed to that space and be more willing to stay.

If she failed, it would provide a good living environment for anyone who came afterward.

"Do they all listen to you?" Sara asked curiously as they walked together.

"On the Void Island, aside from revering Kassadin, the members don't have strict hierarchical relationships. They're all considered equals," Sonia explained.

"Your job won't involve additional tasks beyond recording, so you won't hold any special privileges."

"But why do they seem to respect you so much?" Sara questioned.

"Because I'm Kassadin's housekeeper and one of the few who can interact directly with him, my status is a bit special in their eyes," Sonia explained.

"So they choose to trust and listen to me more."

"But just because they listen doesn't mean they're entirely under my control," she added patiently.

"Do I only need to record their activities?"

"Then how many hours will I be working each day?"

Sara realized she hadn't asked about the work hours yet.

"Considering your condition, we'll set it for 8 AM to 8 PM," Sonia decided.

"Members usually leave for outer space in their spaceships or battlecruisers after lunch in the afternoon.

"Their return times vary; some may arrive unexpectedly at midnight."

"Initially, they might forget to inform you, but once they get used to it," Sonia continued, "even if they come back late at night, they should make a point to greet you the next day."

"There's no need for you to feel pressured. When you're working, if you need to take a break or explore the island, just set up a notice board to let others know where you'll be."

"This way, anyone looking for you will know where to find you," Sonia suggested, glancing at Sara thoughtfully.

This work aimed to subtly shift some of the rules on the Void Island, encouraging members to get into the habit of communicating with the recorder.

To ensure that if Sara earned Kassadin's approval in the future, she would find the job more enjoyable and less likely to seek a more relaxed position.

"I only have to work twelve hours a day, and I can go out?"

Sara was surprised to hear about the work schedule, not because it seemed long, but rather short.

Having worked at the elite hotel under Sonia's guidance, she was accustomed to long hours, sometimes up to eighteen a day.

"Of course, you can go out," Sonia confirmed. "The island is equipped with various entertainment facilities and delicious food for everyone to enjoy.

"But you shouldn't be out all the time; it'll be problematic if others can't find you."

Sonia chuckled at Sara's astonished expression.

It was indeed expected for Sara's role to involve some leisure time since building relationships with other members was essential to the job.

This would encourage members of the Void Church to voluntarily communicate with Sara before embarking on any journeys.
