Chapter 28: No Powers?

Gwen gently lays Alex on the ground, concerned, and asks, "What happened? Why did you suddenly fall from the sky?"

Alex, with impeccable acting and precise control over his body using his Six Eyes, shows no flaws in his expression or movements, saying, "No, no, why have my powers suddenly disappeared?!"

From a distance, Prowler hears Alex's desperate words and bursts into laughter, "Hahaha, you didn't expect this, did you? We've acquired a mutant suppression device secretly developed by the military. Your mutant abilities will be suppressed for at least an hour! During that hour, you're no different from an ordinary person—a single bullet can kill you! And I, will be the one to kill you!"

As soon as Prowler finishes speaking, he charges towards Alex at high speed, but Gwen intercepts him.

Seeing Spider-Woman blocking his way, Prowler's expression turns cold. "You again, Spider-Woman. This time, I'll kill you and the White-Haired Demon together!"

The two engage in battle, with neither gaining the upper hand in the short term, but this balance won't last. In the distance, several figures are rushing toward them—more of Kingpin's henchmen.

Alex recognizes a few familiar faces among them: Tombstone, a supervillain with impenetrable skin. Scorpion, wearing high-tech battle armor similar to Prowler's; and Doctor Octopus, a female version with four high-tech mechanical arms welded to her back.

Gwen also spots the approaching supervillains. She kicks Prowler away, ties him to a lamppost with webbing, and then grabs Alex, swinging away to escape.

"How long until you can recover?" Gwen asks, trying to shake off the pursuing supervillains, but she can't put much distance between them due to the constant gunfire from suddenly appearing gang members.

Alex responds with a playful smile, "I don't know… maybe it'll take a while, or it could happen at any moment."

Gwen is frustrated by Alex's nonchalant attitude and considers dropping him, but she remembers that this bastard once saved her. Her kind nature keeps her from doing so.

"Can you be serious? If they catch up, you're dead!" she scolds.

Alex replies innocently, "I'm telling the truth!"

The mutant suppression device can only suppress Alex's mutant abilities. Except for energy absorption, all his other abilities are still intact and usable. Moreover, his energy absorption is recovering rapidly and should be fully restored within five minutes, far less than the hour Prowler claimed.

So Alex wasn't lying to Gwen—he could regain his abilities at any moment. Gwen, unaware that she's being toyed with by the mischievous bastard, focuses on the approaching villains.

Suddenly, Prowler, freed from the webbing with his allies' help, catches up. He throws a knife, cutting Gwen's webbing and causing both Alex and her to fall to the ground, surrounded by the supervillains.

Gwen feels the pressure but remains optimistic, saying, "Oh, this is bad. I have no idea what to do…"

Alex, still in her arms, cheers her on, "Believe in yourself—you can do it! And if not, I'm still here!"

Before Gwen can respond, Prowler mocks, "Brat, without your mutant abilities, you can barely protect yourself, let alone others. You can't protect anything!"

Scorpion, covered in exoskeleton armor, looks at Alex and sneers, "So, this is the White-Haired Mutant? Not so impressive! Little Spider, White-Haired Kid, it's time for you to die!"

Scorpion's mechanical limbs extend as he charges towards Alex and Gwen. His tail needle lifts and strikes down towards Gwen, intending to kill both her and Alex. Gwen narrowly avoids the tail's strike but is then hit by Doctor Octopus's mechanical arms, sending both her and Alex flying apart.

Alex lands smoothly with his ordinary physical abilities and immediately looks to the sky. With his Six Eyes, he sees a helicopter hovering ten kilometers away. At that distance, even his Level 3 Six Eyes can only make out a vague shadow. If not for his intuition telling him that he's being watched from afar, he might not have noticed.

Growing impatient, Alex realizes that the helicopter has been there for a long time and is unlikely to come closer. Meanwhile, Gwen, overwhelmed by the combined attacks of several supervillains, is losing ground and can no longer protect Alex.

Prowler, seizing the opportunity, approaches Alex with a menacing grin. "The arrogant White-Haired Bastard is about to die here. This will surely be the fourth news story to shock the world!"

Seeing Alex still ignoring him and instead looking into the distance, Prowler feels a surge of anger at being dismissed. "Such arrogance… but it will make your screams all the more satisfying!"

Prowler lunges at Alex, but before he can get close, Gwen appears again, standing between them. "Maybe you won't get the chance to kill him!"

Noticing Gwen's injuries, Prowler smiles cruelly, "No, you're both going to die here!"

A purple light glows under Prowler's feet as his already impressive speed increases further. He rushes towards Alex and Gwen. Gwen tries to pull Alex to safety, but her previous injuries suddenly flare up, causing her to freeze momentarily. In that brief pause, Prowler reaches her, his sharp claws aiming for her abdomen. "Die!"

The claws are too close for even Spider-Woman's agility to dodge. She can only watch as the claws approach, about to pierce her abdomen and kill both her and Alex.

But then, Gwen suddenly feels a blur in front of her and sees a tall figure appear, blocking her. A deep, irritated voice comes from the man in front of her, "Looks like it's not coming any closer… How boring. What a waste of time."

Gwen then sees the White-Haired Mutant extend his hand forward, and Prowler's body freezes in midair. With a casual wave of his arm, a powerful repulsive force blasts everything in front of him away, including Prowler, who is crushed into a bloody pulp.

Gwen stares in shock at the fan-shaped swath of destruction stretching dozens of meters in front of them, swallowing hard. She then hears Alex muttering to himself, "Tsk tsk, they're trying to escape? That won't do. I need to wrap this up quickly."
