After several exhausting rounds of confrontation, Charlie understood just how powerful the enemy was. The massive resetter had already proven itself to be a nearly indestructible opponent. Even with the Avengers working together, they couldn't gain the upper hand. It wasn't that they couldn't win, but it was clear that victory would require an enormous amount of time and effort. And time was something they didn't have.
The resetter's unique abilities, combined with its tough outer shell, meant that it could withstand almost anything thrown at it. Whether it was finding a weakness to exploit or wearing it down bit by bit, this was shaping up to be a grueling battle. Charlie knew they couldn't afford to drag this out any longer. Reinforcements were the only option.
"Are Bat and Lightning available?" Charlie asked, switching his view to Iron Man, who was in the middle of firing repulsor beams at the enormous machine while dodging its attacks mid-air.
"The last round of improvements just finished, and they're both ready, sir," Friday responded.
"Good. Activate the teleportation system and bring them here. We need more firepower on this battlefield."
But before Friday could confirm, her voice shifted into an alert. "Sir, multiple new objects are approaching."
The radar on Charlie's display lit up with warnings. Moments later, his view filled with massive shapes descending from the sky. They looked like meteorites as they crashed into the ground with earth-shaking force. When the dust settled, Charlie saw what they were—three more resetters, identical to the first. Each one was enormous, their hulking forms stretching hundreds of meters. The sounds of energy humming and machinery grinding filled the air as they activated, their presence loud enough to be heard for miles.
"Three additional resetters detected!" Friday said urgently.
"I can see that," Charlie replied, narrowing his eyes as he stared at the screen. "Mark their locations on the map."
In a moment, three markers labeled A, B, and C appeared on his tactical display. Charlie quickly formulated a plan. "Send the Iron Legion to sectors A and B to slow them down. For sector C, activate the satellite and deploy Iron Man 6."
The orders weren't designed to eliminate the resetters—Charlie knew that the Iron Legion wasn't nearly strong enough to deal with enemies of this caliber. Their job was to stall, buying time to prevent the machines from causing more destruction while Charlie prepared for a decisive move.
Four resetters now loomed over the battlefield, their sheer size and impenetrable armor making them nearly invincible. Conventional weapons had already proven useless. It was clear that only the heroes Charlie controlled could make a difference. If they were going to win, he would need to take a risk.
"Friday, how many hero points do we have?"
"Twelve thousand, sir," Friday answered.
Charlie didn't hesitate. "Use them all. Every last point."
This was the moment he'd been saving for. Hero points, which took a long time to accumulate, were meant for situations like this. Each draw cost three thousand points, meaning he could summon four new heroes or pieces of equipment. What he drew now would decide whether the rest of the battle was winnable or impossible.
Switching to the summoning interface, Charlie let the Avengers hold the line on auto-pilot. He focused all his attention on the screen. Taking a deep breath, he pressed the button for the first draw.
First draw: Valkyrie.
A strong but somewhat underwhelming result. Valkyrie was a powerful warrior from Asgard, chosen by the gods themselves, but she wasn't a game-changer. She was skilled in combat and tough to beat, but in a fight like this, her abilities wouldn't tip the scales.
Charlie frowned but didn't let it discourage him. He pressed the button for the second draw.
Second draw: Venom Symbiote.
This was classified as equipment rather than a hero. The symbiote would bond with Charlie himself, giving him Venom's powers. While the symbiote was incredibly strong in the early stages, it didn't scale well against tougher opponents. It wouldn't make a huge impact on the current battle.
Now, only two draws remained. Charlie could feel the pressure mounting. He needed something extraordinary, an S-rank hero who could completely shift the tide of battle. Taking another deep breath, he pressed the button for the third draw.
Third draw: Superman.
Golden light exploded from the screen, filling the room with a dazzling brilliance that seemed to light up everything around him. Charlie's jaw dropped as the legendary "S" emblem appeared. Superman, the ultimate superhero, was here.
For a moment, Charlie could hardly believe what he was seeing. His breathing quickened as he read through the hero's description.
Superman's abilities had changed throughout the years, depending on the era of the comics. This version was from the Black Iron Age, a modern and slightly weaker iteration of the hero. While not as overwhelmingly powerful as his Silver Age counterpart, this Superman was still an incredible force to be reckoned with.
During the Golden Age, Superman was only "faster than a bullet" and "stronger than an engine." His strength was impressive but limited. By the Silver Age, his powers became nearly godlike. This Superman could drag planets across space, sneeze away galaxies, and perform feats so outrageous they defied all logic.
The Black Iron Superman, however, was a more balanced version. His abilities were still extraordinary. He could survive planet-destroying explosions and fly across the solar system in seconds. In one notable example, he heard a gun being fired at Lois Lane in the Middle East from Metropolis and managed to block the bullet before it hit her—within a fraction of a second.
Though this version wasn't the strongest Superman in history, Charlie was more than satisfied. This was exactly the kind of reinforcement he needed to turn the tide. The final battle was about to begin.
