Story 314: Dance of Survival

The massive creature charged with terrifying speed, each thunderous step shaking the ground beneath Zara’s feet. Its spines glinted in the dim light filtering through the trees, and its glowing red eyes burned with malevolent intent. Zara inhaled deeply, centering herself, her twin blades glinting as she prepared to meet the monstrous foe.

“Mia, Andre, flank left! Callum, cover fire on my signal!” Zara’s voice rang out clear and commanding, snapping the team out of their terror.

The beast lunged, swiping its colossal arm toward Zara. She dove to the side, narrowly avoiding the blow that shattered a nearby tree trunk into splinters. Rolling to her feet, Zara slashed at its leg, her blades slicing deep into its tough, leathery hide. The creature roared in pain, but its momentum barely slowed.

“Callum, now!” Zara shouted.
