Castle Black

(Rhaegon's POV)

"So it's been a while, huh?" I said as Ed took us to the library, "I didn't know about this."

I wasn't told that Jeor Mormont died, it would've been nice if Father mentioned it. Then again, Father and I haven't talked a lot as of late.

"Yea, well, I would assume a man of your position is quite busy sometimes." He said

As he opened the door to the library, I walked in as I was followed by the girls, who were merely shivering. I noticed that the room was filled with many texts and books, placed in shelves as dust gathered on it.

"Hm." I said as I stood there

I then heard the shuffling of feet as some pages fluttered, "E-Ed?" I heard a voice

I saw Ed walk up to a large young man, who was nervously shifting his feet as he looked at us. His gaze was switching between me and the Sand Snakes who stood behind me.

"Sam." Ed said, "Where's Maester Aemon?"

"H-He's in his Quarters." He said shakily as he looked at me, "Uhm...I....He didn't feel well."

"Shit, I brought Ser Rhaegon here to see him." Ed said, "Oh well, can you take him to see him?"

"Uh....y-yea, sure." Sam said

I heard a chuckle from Nymeria, "Look at this one. His round and gentle face is different than the rough ones outside." She said as she walked up to him, "Bet he's real warm, eh?"

"Be nice." I said rolling my eyes

"Uhm..." the large young man said, "T-Thanks?"

"What's your name?" Nymeria asked with a chuckle, "Take it easy. You're not from the North, are you?"

"I'm Samwell Tarly, I'm from Horn Hill." He said

I raised an eyebrow, "Tarly?" I said, "Samwell Tarly? Randyll's son?"

He nodded, "Y-Yes, Rhago-Ser Rhaegon..." He said as he looked down

"What in the hells are you doing here?" I asked as I walked up to him

"M-My F-Father sent me to the Night's Watch." He said, "Well, he didn't like the kind of man his eldest son was so he gave me a choice; The Wall or Death."

I scowled, "That son of a...." I growled, "I always thought of him as a stuck up prick, never thought he'd go this far. Next time I see him, I'll punch him in the throat."

"How cruel." Nymeria said, "If my son were like you, I'd still love him. You may not be a warrior, but there other ways a son can be useful to the House."

"Should I kill him?" Tyene said, "This Tarly guy."

"No." I said

"Heh." Obara chuckled

"W-Well, here in Castle Black, I feel more at home." Samwell said, "I like to read...and all..so I learn all types of things."

"Sam." Ed said, "Take them to Maester Aemon. I have to go to the Outlook."

"O-Okay." He nodded, "Uhm, Ser Rhaegon, m-my ladies."

"We're not Ladies." Nymeria said

"Well..." He said, "Follow me, then."

****************************

"Jon!" Samwell said as we walked through the doors of the Maester's quarters, "You're here?"

I saw that on a bed, an old man laid, sweating slightly as a familiar face sat down next to him.

Jon Snow looked up at us with surprise, "Well, I'll be damned...." He said as he stood up, "If it isn't Rhaegon Baratheon..."

I walked in front of Samwell and smiled, "Jon Snow." I said as we shook hands, "It's been a while."

He returned the smile, "Been too long that is." He said, "A lot of things have happened since we last saw each other."

I nodded, "I can tell." I said, "You joined the Watch....and well, you ended up its leader."

He nodded and glanced at the girls behind me, "And I've heard about your...." He started, "Situations."

I nodded, "Yes, well." i said, "These are the Sand Snakes, they're with me."

He nodded at them, "Pleasure."

"This one is Jon Snow?" Obara said as she walked over to him, "He seems a bit capable."

"Quite a nice sword." Tyene said, "Can you use it?"

"Yea." Jon said

"Who's there?" The Old Man said, "Jon?"

Jon turned around, "Maester Aemon." He said, "Uhm, we have a visitor. I don't know if you know him, it's Rhaegon Baratheon."

I walked over to the edge of the bed, looking at the old man. He had clear white hair and his eyes were faint purple. He was a Targaryen alright.

"Rhaegon Baratheon..." Aemon said, "Ah, Shaena's boy.....right?"

I nodded, "Yes. You are Maester Aemon Targaryen, I take it?"

He nodded, "Forgive me, Ser." He said, "I am afraid I am bed-ridden for the day, I would stand and greet you properly."

I shook my head, "There is no need." I said

"Would you mind if I touch your face?" He said as he slowly lifted his hand

I sat down in the seat where Jon was sitting, "Sure."

I felt as he gently ran his fingers over my face. I know that blind people do this to feel the features of the face.

"Ah.." he said, "Your hair? What color is it?"

"Black." I said

"Your eyes?" He asked

"Blue." I told him

"A Baratheon feature." He said with a chuckle, "But your blood is of the Dragon, since you are Shaena's boy and you ride a Dragon."

I nodded, "Yes."

"Your face is that of a handsome and strong young man, I can tell." He said as he lowered the hand, "Tell me, Ser Rhaegon, what brings you to Castle Black? I know it's not to see this decrepit old man."

"Part of it is." I said, "I have questions. Questions I need answered."

"Well, do ask." He said

"There's a lot." I asked

"I know a lot of things.." He replied

I nodded, "Okay then." I said, "Can I ask you this, then? What do you know of Aerion Targaryen?"

There was a slight smile that appeared on his face, "Aerion, The Mighty." He said with a bright tone, "Only but one of the greatest warriors to ever live. The Warrior Incarnate they called him. My Grandfather, Daeron II, told me that his Uncle, the one I was named after, worshipped that man. The Dragonknight had an idol he modeled himself after, becoming the better version of Aerion Targaryen."

"Hm." I said, "I've heard that story."

"Well, there's a lot more I know about Aerion Targaryen." He said, "He rode Vermithor, the Bronze Fury, but you knew that. He single-handedly beat down his enemies with tremendous fury, scaring the Greens during the Civil War. Aerion Targaryen was arguably the greatest man to ever live, so they say. But one thing I do know about him, that is probably the reason you're here; He once ventured beyond the wall."

I looked at him, "You are smarter than I thought." I said, "What do you know of it?"

"Heh." He chuckled, "Aerion Targaryen did in fact venture beyond the wall. According to our records, a Ranger that went by the name of Jorah escorted him and a man known as Willam Royce, to search for thieves that killed one of their cousins. They returned to Shadowtower, completely shaken up. Aerion's dragon, Vermithor, did not cross the Wall. And when Aerion went back south, he never spoke of what he'd seen."

"He saw it." I said seriously, "The Army of The Dead."

"Uh..." I heard Samwell speak

I glanced at him, Jon gave him a silent stare which prompted him to shut up.

"Yes, so the records say." Aemon said, "Do you believe in that?"

"I don't know what to believe." I said, "I want to hear it from you; is it true?"

"The White-Walkers...." Aemon said, "They're real. As real as the Giants and Mammoths that Mance Rayder has in his army. While Death looms beyond the wall, the current danger we face is not the Dead or the White Demons. It's Mance Rayder and his 100,000-strong army."

"I see." I said

"You caught us in a bad time, Rhaegon." Jon said

I nodded, "I am aware." I said as I stood up, "I would like to speak to you alone, then."

"There's something I wish to show you."
