"Oh! I'm sorry!" I gasped when I accidentally ran into one of the maids in the hallway.
"Please be careful, Ms. Sora. You shouldn't get hurt," The maid bowed at me apologetically even though it wasn't her fault. I repeatedly blinked to stop the tears from forming in my eyes.
"Miss? Are you okay? Do I have to call-"
"No, no... I'm fine. It's my eyelash," I shook my head while pretending to dab away the nonexistent eyelash in my eyes.
"Well-"
"Oh, don't bring me food. I already ate. Please notify the elders of my absence," I smiled at the maid and hurried in the opposite direction. I bit my lower lip when I felt my heart hammering in pain.
"Miss Sora?" The nurse looks up in surprise when I push the door to the medical room open. Huh? It's not empty?? I want to be alone!
"C-can I rest here? I don't want to stay in my room," I stuttered as a hot lump formed in my throat. Hold it in, Sora!
"Yes, of course. Do you want to lay here or in the private room inside?" The nurse quickly got up from her desk. She seems confused. I can tell she's confused as hell.
"To be honest, I'm not feeling good," I gulped, attempting to wash away the lump in my throat, but it wouldn't go away. So I clenched my fist tightly to counter the stabbing pain in my chest.
"Are you feeling nauseous?" The nurse questioned, examining my teary eyes anxiously. Fuck! Fuck! I can't cry! I couldn't say anything but nod at her as a single tear slipped down my cheek. I quickly look down and wipe it away.
"Oh! Please don't cry! I know it's uncomfortable. Please rest," The nurse gasped, pushing the door to a dimly lit room open for me. She helped me onto the medical bed and handed me a pill.
"Thank you," I weakly smiled at her before swallowing the pill with a cup of water.
"I'll be right outside if you need me," The nurse smiled as she walked towards the door.
"No visitor, please. I just... need to be alone," I whispered as I leaned against the pillow.
"As you wish," The nurse smiled and left the room. I slowly laid back against the bed head in exhaustion. Suddenly, wave after wave of pain tore through my chest. Streams of tears came rushing down my cheeks... it felt as if I was suffocating from the pain.
"Yoongi," I whimpered in distress. The way he turns to smile at me before beckoning me towards him. I can hear the cold wind blowing around us... accompanied by the sound of waves crashing against the beach. My chest churned and twisted at the memories we made together.
"It's all gone now," I sobbed while hugging my knees to endure my pain. The happiness I had in Busan is gone now. There's nothing left. He was all I had to keep me going... now he's just gone. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't, so I let out a voiceless scream and bit my palm in agony. The pain was so intense- I felt as if my eyes were gonna burst out of the sockets due to the heavy amount of tears rushing out of it.
Fuck! How did all of this happen?! I lost everything. I came back for him! I returned to the goddamn society for him! But he's going to abandon me like this?! How can he do this to me!? I repeatedly smacked my chest, hoping to contain the pain, but my heart wouldn't stop weeping for him. My entire world is collapsing around me, and no one seems to notice it. Usually, Yoongi is here with me... to be my shield and pillar, but who do I have now? No one. I'm crushed by his betrayal.
I rested on the bed and cried endlessly as my inside fell apart... piece by piece to the point my pillow was soaked with my warm tears. After a while, I had nothing left in me. I was devoid of any emotions. I rested on my side... empitily staring at the wall... no tears... no emotions. I'm just... numb. Slowly... my eyes started to lose focus. There was nothing left for me.
"Fuck," I cursed, sitting up in difficulty when I felt the soreness in my throat. I rubbed my eyes sleepily before glancing around the room. Oh... it wasn't just a dream. The waves of pain thundered against my aching chest the instant I remembered the harsh truth I had to endure. This is the reality I have to face, huh? The reality I can't avoid.
"I need water," I sighed, crawling off the bed and drew open the medical room door. The nurse was dozing off on her desk. I shouldn't wake her. I carefully searched the room for water, but there wasn't any. So I decided to head to the kitchen. I quietly made my way down the empty hallway, trying my best to ignore the throbbing pain in my chest.
"Ah! You scared me!" Someone shrieked when I turned around the corridor... coming face to face with Jimin. He jumped back in panic when he walked into me.
"I'm sorry," I weakly smiled at him.
"It's alright. Are you feeling alright?" He asks while scratching his head.
"Where are you going?" I asked when I noticed the way he was dressed. He's dressed in tight jeans and a black hoodie.
"Ah... nowhere," Jimin gulped, shifting his eyes away uncomfortably. He's lying, isn't he?
"You're dressed to go out. Not as an alpha. Wait, are you trying to sneak out?" I whispered when it struck me. That's how he dressed when we went to the mart together.
"Shhh! It's just... I'm craving ramen," Jimin immediately covered my mouth.
"You can't sneak out. That's impossible," I muttered as I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. The mansion is heavily guarded. How the hell will he leave the property without being caught?
"I have my ways, don't worry. Just please don't tell anyone. Please?" Jimin pouted while holding on to my arm. Is he trying to bribe me with his cuteness?
"It's a huge risk. You know your life is valuable," I stared at him anxiously. He's the only child, and if something happens to him, then his parent won't survive in the game.
"I always do it. I'm dressed like the average person. How can anyone recognize me? Oh? Please do me a favor and don't tell anyone," Jimin begged while swinging my arms back and forth like a little kid.
"Let me go with you," I sighed. I need some fresh air. Maybe I can heal a little. This mansion is suffocating me.
"What- Sora, you're hurt-"
"I won't tell anyone. You said no one would recognize us. Please?" I pouted, staring at Jimin sadly. Jimin bit his lower lips anxiously and tried to make up his mind.
"Araso. Put on something warm. Meet me near the ball house. And make sure to avoid all the guards and maids. Oh, and go through the back door of the mansion. There's no camera there. It's a blind spot," Jimin finally smiles at me before walking off. How does he know about the mansion, even the camera angles? Wow, impressive. He must've snuck in and out a lot of times.
I quickly pushed the door to my room open but immediately stopped when memories came flooding back into my head. Yoongi- Sora! Stop it! Hurry up now! Shaking the thoughts out of my head, I quickly changed into comfortable clothes and pulled on my jacket. I quietly made my way down the hallway and out the back door.
"Fuck," I quickly crouched down when a guard appeared in the garden with a flashlight to examine the area. I clenched my fist tightly. I can't get caught.
"Thank god," I whispered in excitement when he disappeared from my sight. I hurriedly raced towards the ball house located behind the mansion and pushed the heavy wooden door open before slipping into the large venue.
"Jimin? Where are you?" I called as I walked pasts the tables and chairs. I scanned the darkroom carefully, but no one was there. Did he leave me? Did I take too long? Or did he get caught?
"Who's there?" A female voice spoke from the far end of the room, causing my body to turn cold. I quickly crouched down again and crawled cautiously between the table fabrics.
"That's weird. I'm sure I heard someone," The maid whispered. She started walking in my direction, making my heart thump in fear. I quickly crawled across the floor- making sure not to create any noises and managed to reach the opposite side of the room when- CLING. I accidentally bumped into a tray, causing it to fall and crash onto the floor.
"Who's there?!" The maid snapped and rushed in my direction. FUCK FUCK FUCK!
I quickly dashed away from the tray in a hurry. The maid was quicker than I expected, so in a panic, I jumped into the shadow of the wall where she couldn't see me. She was only a few feet away from me as she examined the mess on the floor. I stood stiffly with my hands over my mouth. My heart was racing so fast I couldn't help but pants heavily from the dread I was in. I stood staring at her with my eyes wide open. If she turns to look in my direction... she'll see me, but she was too busy picking up the utensils to notice my presence.
"ARGHHH!" The maid suddenly yelped when a little rat scurried across her. It ran towards me, and I swear I almost peed my pants. I stumbled backward in panic and was about to scream as the rat approached me, but I bit my lips in fear and held back the urge. I held in my breath with my terrified eyes trained on the rat below my feet.
"How did it get in?! Aish, I need to inform the manager," The maid pats her chest and walks off in the opposite direction.
"Fu-fuck," I cursed, exhaling deeply when the maid disappeared from the room. That was close. Suddenly, I felt a pair of hands on my shoulders.
"ARGHHHHH!-SHPSHPSH," I let out a loud scream, but the person immediately covered my mouth and tugged me into a dark storage room.
"Shh- Sora, it's me!" Jimin whispered, keeping his hand over my mouth as he pinned me against the wall. I shakily breathed while staring at him as we stood in the quiet room. Jimin slowly let go of me and carefully pulled the door open to peek outside.
"Come on," Jimin pokes his head out of the door and pulls me out of the room. We quietly tiptoe down the kitchen and out of the back door.
"You go first. There's a tree branch on the other side of the wall," Jimin carefully lifted me up. I grabbed onto the wall and towed myself over the brick wall. I grasped onto the thick tree branch and carefully lowered myself onto the sidewalk. Jimin quickly climbed over the wall and jumped down beside me.
"How did you-"
"Years of professional experience," Jimin smugly smiles at me.
"You scared me back in the ballroom! I almost got caught," I chuckled and smacked his arm as we made our way down the empty street.
"I'm sorry, I had to," Jimin chuckled as we crossed the street. He walked over to this old alley and started to disassemble a stack of old cardboard.
"What are you doing?" I curiously watched him.
"Are you up for a ride?" Jimin turned to look at me after pulling the cardboard apart to reveal a mini white scooter. I turned to smile at Jimin in surprise as he excitedly grinned at me. Jimin owns a mini scooter?! Hidden in an old alley?! An alpha?!!
