215. Invitation

Paige understood. She would preferably fight guns while having a cigar between her lips too; however, she had to stay locked up. But just because she understood didn't mean she liked it. What should she do if Lance would be injured or worse? 

Maurice took a chocolate out of nowhere and gave it to her.

Paige looked at it, and it was hazelnut-flavored.

Looking at Maurice in askance, the other promptly explained,

"Sir said to give this to you if you are upset." Maurice had gotten a few additional words in the unfeeling message Lance announced his absence with.

Paige smiled and ate the chocolate. The note she found was also like this. No, 'I love you's, but packed with words of how she should look after herself and that he will miss her, etc. 

Even if he wasn't as open-spoken as in the past, she could feel his love for her.
