The next day, a massive explosion rocked the eastern part of Gujarat, sending shockwaves through the region.
The MOTH base in Rajasthan, where everyone had been anticipating the birth of the Fourth Herrscher, was caught off guard.
The power readings of Honkai energy were off the charts, indicating that an evolution into a Herrscher was nearly complete.
Kevin felt a chill run down his spine as he realized the truth. This world was not the previous era he had known.
His worst fears were coming true: the gods had succeeded in deceiving him.
Frustration surged through him, and he sighed deeply, recalling Elysia's words of encouragement.
With over 20,000 points in his possession, Kevin searched the system for anything useful.
To his relief, he found a skill that caught his eye:
*Elemental Resistance*, which blocked elemental damage by 30%. It cost 4,000 system points to acquire.
"Don't you have any skills that can actually increase my power?" Kevin asked the system, hoping for something more offensive.
The system then presented
*Burst*, a skill that would double his physical stats at the cost of consuming a large amount of energy.
It was exactly what he needed, albeit at a steep price of 15,000 points.
"That's more like it," Kevin muttered. He decided to also purchase a healing potion, the strongest available, which could heal wounds by 40%. It cost him an additional 1,000 points.
The system then suggested, "Host should place a piece of the Honkai beast, codenamed Vishnu, into the system space to acquire more skills and increase stats."
Kevin raised an eyebrow. "So, I have to eat Honkai flesh?"
"No, Host," the system corrected. "With the system's help, you only need to place the flesh in the system space. It will grant you its power. However, consuming the same type of flesh again and again will not improve your stats ."
"Why is that?" Kevin inquired, curious about the limitation.
"That's the drawback of Vishnu's ability," the system explained.
Kevin quickly formulated a plan. He explained to Elysia that they needed to prepare bombs and be ready to deploy them at his signal. As they discussed the details, Kevin received an unexpected call from Mobius.
"Lab rat, we have bad news. The Fourth Herrscher has appeared in Gujarat, and an eruption is currently wreaking havoc in the western side of India," Mobius's voice crackled over the line.
"That bastard destroyed one of our major bases in Gujarat and absorbed a large amount of Honkai energy," Mobius continued, her tone laced with anger.
Kevin's mind raced. "So that's why the evolution sped up so much," he thought.
"I'll move out soon," Kevin said. "But can you send me some Honkai beast Vishnu flesh?"
Mobius hesitated. "Why do you need it?"
"Let's just say my bloodline has genes from these beasts. Consuming the flesh might unlock dormant powers within me," Kevin explained.
There was a pause on the line before Mobius replied, "I'll send it in four hours. But in return, I need some data from your body. Survive this disaster; I don't want to lose my precious lab rat."
Kevin chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. "Oh, come on, just wish me good luck properly. Don't be a tsundere, Mobius."
But before he could continue, she hung up, leaving him with a smirk on his face.
Kevin sighed and shook his head.
Elysia placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "We'll get through this, Kevin. Just remember, you're not alone in this fight."
Kevin looked at her, appreciating her unwavering support. "Thanks, Elysia.
With everything set, Kevin and Elysia prepared to move out. Kevin could feel the weight of the upcoming battle, but he was ready.
In the aftermath of the massive explosion in Gujarat, the MOTH forces found themselves facing a dire situation.
Two Emperor-class Honkai beasts had emerged in the zone of the eruption, one particularly powerful entity known as the Eye of Storm, which was wreaking havoc in the northern part of Gujarat.
Its path left a barren wasteland in its wake, devoid of even a single blade of grass.
"Boom
boom
boom."
Cannonballs thundered through the sky, their explosions a futile attempt to halt the beast's advance.
The soldiers were giving their all, desperately trying to prevent further destruction. Above, a swarm of dense, purple-hued Honkai beasts, like a malevolent cloud, descended upon the city.
"Fire!" a MOTH commander shouted, his voice barely audible over the chaos. A volley of missiles launched towards a griffon-like Honkai beast, their trails streaking through the sky. The explosion that followed was deafening.
Boom!
Yet, as an Emperor-class Honkai beast its defenses were formidable. It effortlessly repelled the assault, flapping its wings to conjure several white tornadoes, scattering debris and sowing further chaos.
Despite the best efforts of the MOTH soldiers, the beast's forcefield remained unbreached, and it continued its rampage, leaving ruin in its wake.
Before the special team arrived, several cities had already fallen, consumed by the relentless onslaught of the Honkai beasts.
Kevin, having just joined the fray, quickly assessed the battlefield. His eyes were drawn to the Eye of Storm, a swirling vortex of destruction that seemed almost invincible.
As Kevin moved closer, he spotted a young man charging toward the Eye of Storm with reckless abandon. "No! Get back!" Kevin shouted, but the wind and noise swallowed his words.
The young man, undeterred, pressed forward, his face a mask of determination. He was Kosma, a vigilante determined to protect his home at any cost.
The Eye of Storm, sensing the intruder, lashed out with a powerful gust of wind. Kosma was flung back, skidding across the ground.
Just as the Eye of Storm prepared to deliver a finishing blow, Kevin intervened. With a surge of power, he propelled himself forward, scooping Kosma out of harm's way.
"Are you crazy?" Kevin snapped, setting Kosma down gently. "You can't fight this thing alone."
Kosma, breathless and shaken, looked up at him. "I couldn't just stand by... my home... my family..."
Kevin placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "You've done enough. Let me handle this. Get to safety."
As Kosma reluctantly retreated, Kevin turned his attention back to the Eye of Storm. His expression hardened, and he drew his longsword, infusing it with flames that danced along the blade.
With a powerful leap, he closed the distance, targeting the beast's eye—a known weak point.
"Time to end this," Kevin muttered to himself. He brought the fiery blade down with immense force, striking the Eye of Storm dead center.
Baaang!
The resulting explosion was immense, a brilliant burst of flame that illuminated the battlefield like a firework.
The heat was intense, and for a moment, all anyone could see was a massive ball of fire.
The Eye of Storm shrieked, its form writhing in agony as Kevin's attack penetrated its defenses. Despite the intense winds generated by the beast, Kevin's active forcefield shielded him, allowing him to stand firm.
When the fireball dissipated, the Eye of Storm lay defeated, its massive body crashing to the ground with a resounding thud.
Kosma, watching from a safe distance, was stunned. He had never seen such power and precision.
Kevin turned to him, a slight smile on his face. "Go to safety," he instructed.
Kosma, still in awe, nodded and hurried to the medical scouts, where Elysia and other medics were busy helping civilians and injured soldiers.
As the battlefield began to calm, Kevin retrieved a piece of the Eye of Storm and placed it in the system space. The system immediately responded.
*"Report:
wind Manipulation ability.
10,000 points awarded.
Kevin Template increased from 5% to 6%."*
Kevin felt a surge of energy as the system integrated the new ability.
he then made his way to Elysia, who was busy coordinating the evacuation efforts, he couldn't help but reflect on the battle.
"Elysia," Kevin called out, catching her attention. "How's it looking?"
Elysia looked up, a tired but relieved smile on her face. "We've evacuated most of the civilians. The injured are being transported to the nearest medical facility. You did great out there, Kevin."
Kevin nodded, his expression serious. "The Fourth Herrscher... it could be worse than we thought."
Elysia's nodded.
Kevin felt something bad will going to happen.
